However, I'm really disappointed in the quality of the boots themselves. This is probably my 7th pair of Docs and my 3rd pair of Jadon Max boots, so I'm very familiar with the brand and what to expect. However, this is my first pair of the vegan version, and the quality just doesn't compare to my previous pairs. I've only had them for around 8 months and don't wear them every day, yet the sole has already developed a large horizontal crack (around 10cm long). It's quite significant, and it honestly feels like it's only a matter of time before the entire sole rips off. For the price, I expected them to last much longer, so unfortunately I don't feel the quality matches the cost.

This store finds the impeccable equilibrium of rebellion and order. Maintaining its roots in the subculture while understanding there must be method in the madness. While a half-basement, this store provides plenty of lighting and an eye catching window display. The staff are some of the coolest people I got to meet in Brisbane, happy to chat and joke around while providing expert knowledge and assistance. So it's great to see that after years of only being able to get Sass and Bide in selected retailers/department stores, a few stand-alone shops have sprung up. This is my fave for the simple reason that it's the most convenient for me to pop into. And I love the huge white space, with the main focus of the decore being the beautiful, eclectic clothes on the rails. Which, currently, have an ethnic vibe with loud, but fabulous patterns, amazing shapes with statement-making accessories like neck, arm and waist cuffs and divine handbags. I'll forever grateful to S&B for giving style-starved Brisbaneites some hope that things would change. And they did.

For these reasons I often find that even if I'm not looking to buy anything I can't stay away from these shops. I was near Garden City in Mt Gravatt when I wondered across the road to the Overflow which had a whole bunch of storage containers outside for fewer than 20 dollars. I had to go and check it out so I walked in and was amazed at the sheer size of the place. It looked more like a ware house than a shop. This sadly was great news for me and I must have spent the next 30 min looking at everything from picture frames to tools to kitchen ware. This however hardly made a dent. I am definitely heading back there because its perfect for party supplies, storage solutions and more importantly silly gifts. I would recommend that people who love a deal go and check it out.

So thank God for Novo which ticks all my boxes. Most shoes are around $79; they take note of the trends (my current faves are the sky-high, colour block, suede wedges in pink and red) and even the fash pack rate them (there's rarely an issue of a glossy mag that doesn't feature at least one pair of Novo pretties). And they don't mind if you mess up their shop either. I got a little giddy at the site of a heavily sequinned tote bag ($69.99) and left it all, including the cardboard inserts and plastic stand, sitting on top of a pair of shoes as I couldn't be bothered putting it away (naughty, I know). But the lovely manager just swept it all away with a smile, saying "lovely bag huh?" without even a hint of annoyance at the fact I'd messed up her shoe display. Novo, you are indeed the Patron Saint of heavenly high street shoe shops.

The different clothes sections (Women's, Men's and Children) are separate to one another in a very deliberate way, the change rooms are managed efficiently and there is a good variety of clothes without it being too overwhelming. I found the staff to be reasonably nice, though the person at the door may not let you in if you are holding a drink. The main issue that I had with the store was that XL sized stock was either non existent or hard to find, when going through the different sizes. I am not sure whether they stock less larger sizes, or whether it was simply a popular size for men. I would definitely recommend giving H&M a visit at least once, and seeing whether it is your cup of tea.

They have great prices and great quality stuff. Out of all the times i have been here i dont think i have ever walked out empty handed. I only just the other day walked out with a fantastac large handbag and nice rope chain bracelet and only paid $35 all up. You tell me where you can go with a great bargain like that. Not only that but the girls that work there i find always to be really friendly and welcoming and never pushy.
