I did…read morenot need to be assessed while at McLaren but they asked and said it was optional and I figured it would not hurt. I was wrong. This crook kept me for an additional day at the hospital because he said a Dr. had reported they heard me making statements indicating I was homicidal. I was not even suicidal much less homicidal. He was trying to railroad a mental health nurse to inpatient care because I guess maybe he was behind on his car payments. He asked me three times during the first interview what I did for a living. You think he would remember if someone told him they were a mental health RN but not this genius. I was in for pain and CMH did a mental health screen and cleared me. Then the NP later told me since Mark assessed me he could override the CMH recommendation. Of course they did not tell me this prior to seeing this liar. I will never step foot back in a McLaren as a patient. I will be going to Munson in Gaylord or Traverse city. I find it hard to believe this guy has so many good reviews, I question the veracity of these reviews. They cannot possibly be real. He provided substandard clinical performance with clearly questionable medical judgement and honesty to be frank. He was dismissive of my statements and he talked at me more than to me trying to build his BS case for homicidal ideation. He lacked professional conduct as his approach to medicine was highly questionable and unprofessional, he actually called me a liar when I denied homicidal ideation and told him he was a quack. He yelled it as the nurse was pulling the monitor away from my bed. His dismissive attitude and unprofessional conduct compromised the patient-physician relationship. It was all BAD, it is as simple as that. I honestly cannot say one good thing about him. I only saw him twice but he made and cancelled multiple appointments throughout the day and I saw him LATE. UNACCEPTABLE! Even my nurse said he was horrible. The NP that was caring for me overrode this MOMO's recommendation and I was discharged to home at the end of the second day on the trauma floor. I have patients on the behavioural health unit I work on tell me that ER nurses and doctors as well as psychiatrists and CMH screeners lie about what they say all the time, I was skeptical regarding this possibility but now I know this definitely happens. What is way more common though is the patients telling me that ER staff tell them they can either get out after 72 hours or they can leave whenever they want. Then once they get on the unit they find out the truth. This is exactly what happened to me. I was told I would leave the next day after a MRI was performed but this was not the case. This experience has made me change my specialty in nursing as I refuse to work for a behavioural health unit, I do not want to be any part of the broken mental health system in this country. You have been warned.

While this company may have been a decent option for patients and employees in the past, recent changes to their programs have exposed a disturbing lack of consideration for the well-being of patients and staff (in my opinion). This location became short-staffed because over half the employees quit in a short period of time and clinicians' caseloads doubled. Consequently, it was difficult to meet patients' needs. On top of that, when all the staff in the child/adolescent program quit, they forced a new therapist from the adult program (who had no clinical experience working with kids) to take charge with little to no training. Some would say these decisions fall below ethical standards and are not in the best interest of the patients. You deserve better. If you are looking for an IOP or PHP program in the area, there are several other options.

Frustrated with being stuck waiting in little rooms for hours on end, my son was easily agitated. Rather than allowing me to intervene as he escalated (they insisted I "disengage") they allowed him to pick up objects which he then either threw or held up in defense mode, leading them to give up on him - obviously he was set up for failure. They also allowed him to run around hallways and ESCAPE from their secured area, leading to a 30-minute hunt for a 9-year-old boy throughout stairwells that lead outside near a very busy street. During discharge, they suggested a more aggressive medication for the sake of "calming" him, and suggested places out of state to send him to. Then they had the gall to charge me hundreds of dollars for THEIR negligent treatment of my son, and our family's further life disruption by keeping him kicked out of school. Fast forward to a year later, and we found a great local school for our son - a therapeutic day school that is designed for autistic kids. Thanks to a school that knows what they're doing, our son is thriving there, and he very obviously did not need to be institutionalized or over-medicated. Rogers... how dare you give up on a boy who needed help, suggesting that he needs higher-level institutionalization and more aggressive medication, and setting him up to have had his schooling delayed. DO NOT SEEK HELP FROM ROGERS BEHAVIORAL.

Because the staff is primarily composed of Caucasian women, they responded as Caucasian women usually do, They did not take the time to impartially investigate the situation in its entirety. My trauma reaction was to refuse to leave the room, so the group session could be continued. So the staff decided to move the session to another room and the Caucasian woman agreed to go. This is another white power structure play, the white power structure will favor those who will play their game of feigned-surrender; meaning because I was refusing to give up my seat to another patient and refused to leave the room - I was deemed the problem. I was so triggered I was unable to request tools to help me to calm down. I have experienced over five decades of white supremacy and was in treatment for a myriad of reasons, one of which was workplace bullying at the hands of Caucasian women, so yeah in that moment I struggled to calm down. Eventually I was asked to leave because I yelled and cussed while speaking with one of the medical site directors. I take full responsibility for my yelling and cussing. I wish I did not raise my voice and cuss because treatment should be a safe space for all. Staff needs to address their racism, which plays out in how they treat clients and respond to crisis situations. My previous post was removed by Yelp because they stated it was not detailed. Well here are the deets!

I do not recommend Gwenn Waldman for reunification therapy…read more In my experience, this process lacked structure, accountability, and meaningful progress. Over many months, my daughter remained highly distressed and aggressive during sessions, yet I did not see effective intervention, a clear treatment plan, or measurable improvement. Instead of helping de-escalate conflict and rebuild trust, the sessions often felt like a place where emotions were allowed to spiral without enough guidance. I repeatedly asked for updates, a treatment plan, or some type of status report so I could understand what the goals were and whether any progress was being made. I was told there were no written reports and that communication was happening verbally with others. As a parent, that left me feeling excluded from a process that was supposed to help my child. I was also concerned by the inconsistency in communication and scheduling. Important questions often felt unanswered, and at times the process seemed improvised rather than clinically directed. From my perspective, the therapy became one-sided and did not create the balanced, safe environment that reunification work requires. Even during one session, the GAL commented that the therapist appeared one-sided, which only reinforced my concern. Most importantly, nothing improved. My child became harder to convince to attend, the conflict with the other parent continued, and I left feeling that the process caused more frustration than healing. This was an expensive and emotionally difficult experience for my family, and I cannot recommend this provider based on what we lived through.

She will make sure your therapy is court-ordered so you cannot end it even after reunification is achieved. I had to file a motion to end it finally. If each session had some type of goals or purposes, I might have felt differently, but there was no sign she was following any therapeutic plan professionally built and implemented for the two. She also tried hard to throw me into the therapy accusing me I was too close to my child, but I got out of it because it was not the real problem. She also worked with a group of other therapists and pushed all three of us to have a therapist for each, which would've cost three times more! I also got out of it, but it took me so much time and stress emailing back and forth so many times with our attorneys and child rep. If your gal/child rep recommended her, don't just accept and give her your credit card info. Instead do your own research. There are many other reunification therapists who have better qualifications and focus less on money making.
