Dr. Wu seems quite two-faced. When I first met her for nasal symptoms, she was very respectful. However, she kept telling me to take a month of antibiotics for my symptoms. When I went to my general doctor, he was shocked and asked if I had misheard, and told me that isn't good for the body. After I kept refusing, she became very rude and didn't suggest other methods. I wish I had read some of these reviews before going to Dr. Wu. The staff who took my history asked me about the reason for my visit and also my occupation so I said I was a nurse Practitioner. When Dr. Wu walked in the room she never introduced herself or greeted me. She just started asking me how long I have been an NP and where I work. I thought that was strange that she wanted to know so much about my personal info. Nevertheless, I was courteous and answered her. Then she looked at me and said "Are you a nurse practitioner or a nursing assistant "? Obviously she was being sarcastic. If I already told her staff who took history that I was a Nurse practitioner and she walked in asking so much about my work as a nurse practitioner why would she ask that. I went there for something mild and she did a scope on me that was not necessary. It's pretty obvious the reason she did this was for billing purposes only. She even gave me a referral to an audiologist and put hearing loss on the referral but I never complained of hearing loss. Dr. Wu wanted me to follow up with her for more treatment which I thought was strange as well. Despite this I went to the audiologist who said everything was normal. I still wonder why she referred me in this way, was there some financial agreement between the doctors for referring patients? So I went to another ENT who read Dr. Wu's report and told me I do not need to go to her again and there is no need for me to have a follow up with her because I have no symptoms that warrant the treatment she wanted me to get. I was treated with no gentle manner nor respect in my six office visits including a nasal septum correction surgery. During my consultation I asked if the surgery by any means could improve my nose look, she said: "Nobody would look at you since you are such an old man". Each time she inserted into my nasals an endoscopy, her movements were fast and abrupt without caring my pain. During my surgery she kept telling me to stop face muscles' tense look, which was natural reaction that I could not control, and kept threatening to terminate her surgery process. The office sterilization was doubtful. What was visible was no disposable protection cover of any kind on the patient seat for medical inspection and surgery (the latter supposed to be a bed). As a comparison, I had much longer post-surgery bleeding days with this clinic than my two jaw cyst surgeries by Israel Hospital. The worst part was the doctor's Billing Department that insisted to demand my immediate $40 copy each time I visited, not including a special fee for the surgery. I have double medical insurance plans with Medicare as primary and Empire BlueCross BlueShield as secondary. The BlueCross representatives called the doctor's office as well as the Billing Department three times to notify them that my copy was waived and no need to collect any copy. The Billing Department, however, insisted their collecting and did not refund me until three months later, after I contacted them multiple times. They even demanded that I send them insurance statements twice that I received showing zero copy, as if they never had the same information. read more

For students studying out-of-state, regardless of their age, summer vacation is a good time to focus on going home and visiting doctors for check-ups. This summer my daughter and I visited many doctors and several testing centers. Only Dr. Amy Wu otolaryngology gave us sad and terrible experience. A lowest and cramped waiting area and sloppy reception made us frown. What surprised even more was that at the third visit, I found my daughter's name in their system was still wrong. Unbelievably, It took more than a week to just issue a sleep test application to test appointment center only because they use e-fax instead of buying a cheap Fax machine. Her female PA was annoyed about my urging calls and rudely hung up for several times. They seemed not willing to smoothly transfer medical documents to my daughter's PCR upon our request, because their reception said previous medical documents had already e-faxed to PCR except that day's, but We never asked for it that day before, PCR also answered no document he had received before. We had to stay there for 3 hours to waiting for their e-fax but they just gave us a waiting sheet that day. Inefficient and cold attitude made us doubt their professionalism and team management. They ignored PATIENT TIME because that was not their time. I would not recommend to anyone, just for your reference. read more

I have been under the care of Dr. Amy Wu for nearly a year now! I originally found her for one chief complaint of ear ringing and selected her services because of proximity to work location at the time. Dr. Wu and her staff left such an impression that despite numerous moves, I entrust her with my care and commute from Passaic County, NJ. The wait times are relatively short (usually 15 minutes maximum). The doctor and all support staff are so understanding. Dr. Wu is knowledgeable, compassionate, sympathetic, and understanding. She took the time to listen to me and take appropriate action. She promptly explained to me numerous differential diagnosis for my complaint with use of diagrams and models. She took the time to educate me and walked me through all the necessary testing and referrals for further imaging (otherwise could have been very stressful). She was thorough and efficient with her initial diagnosis but did not stop there - she addressed numerous other underlying conditions such as chronic sinus infection which was causing years of frequent headaches and difficulty breathing. She is extremely knowledgeable with insurance providers which was essential to ensure appropriate coverage of all treatment options to reduce any stress on my experience! She has my highest recommendation. She is diligent in making sure my health is the best it can be. Thank you, Dr. Wu. If you need an ENT, don't hesitate to contact her practice! I went to Dr. Wu after going to 2 different urgent cares and Grand Central ENT for a case of vertigo. After spending over $300 in unnecessary CAT scan and hearing test (I told them my hearing was fine) no one could tell me how to fix my problem. She is a wonderful practitioner who has solved my issues when other doctors including the allergist was firm that my severe runny nose was due to "seasonal allergies", and it caused difficulty breathing. She suggested surgery right away after finding the issue on a scan. After surgery, I felt like a new person who can take on any intensive sport! What an awful experience. Will never come back here again. I took the afternoon off from work to make this appointment and came from all the way across town. I sprinted from the train to make it for my 4:30PM appointment. The receptionist checks me in and tells me I will owe them $150 for my visit. I knew that was incorrect as Dr Wu was within my network and I had already hit my deductible for the year. Both attendants were incredibly rude and continued to argue with me. One of them even told me, "You should really be aware of your personal health plan before making an appointment". I told her I couldn't pay that much money and she rushed me out the door. A few minutes before 5PM, the receptionist calls me back to tell me that I was right. She was looking at the wrong chart and had made a mistake. There would not be any fee for my appointment. However, since it was 5PM, their office was closed and the doctor would not see me today. The receptionist had mentioned the Doctor had to leave before 5PM, which makes me think it's possible she just didn't want to see me and asked her receptionist to get rid of me. read more

If you're suffering from persistent sinus pains, or feel like the right side of your face is throbbing/underwater (like I did) make a "tele-appointment" with Dr. Wu. She is extremely knowledgeable and was able to alleviate all of my symptoms after only two visits. Her staff is extremely reliable and a pleasure to deal with. She is quite prompt with all her appointments and by the end of the appointment you feel as though she has the diagnostic experience as well as expertise to truly help. Considering my "visits" were all via video chat I believe I've only scratched the surface of what she is truly capable of during a formal examination. I'm honestly surprised she has good reviews but I can only comment on my experience. I traveled abroad to Africa and was concerned with my hearing and was looking to get my ears cleaned by a professional instead of going into a Spa that can potentially make the matters worse. The wait was not long and In no more than 5 minutes I was out of the office. To me this is concerning because as a first time patient Dr. Wu brushed off all my concerns took a look at my ears and then just let me go. She interrupted me when I was voicing some of the issues I was having and said that all she could do was to send me to get my hearing tested. On top of this brief visit I got a bill from them stating that I had a payment due. This comes to a surprise to me because I myself work on the medical field so before entering the office I had the receptionist make sure that my insurance will cover what ever test she will be doing. The receptionist stated that I was cleared and my insurance will cover all. This is also alarming because all Dr. Wu did was look at my ear which I can go to a primary care provider for. If anything I spent more time getting my blood pressure and pulse taken. I am disappointed because before going I did my research and tried to find someone that will understand my concerns and this visit was not matched with what everyone says about her. read more

I've never been treated so poorly by a doctor in my life. I went in with a sinus infection. Dr Wu scoped and cultured my nose and told me I would be called if it came back positive. I started feeling better so I thought must just be a virus, a few days later all my symptoms were back and worse. I had to check on my labs myself and found out I needed antibiotics. When I called to ask for an rx, they wouldn't write me one without coming back in, even though I had already been in. The receptionist explained this was their fault completely for not calling me and that they are working on their communication. A few weeks later I get a certified letter in the mail saying there was a "serious disruption in the doctor-patient relationship" and that I wasn't welcome back effective immediately. Yes, there was a disruption, I was neglected and mistreated and left sick for a month. I also just found out they sent my culture to the wrong lab, not under my insurance. I was told by my insurance provider that if the doctor accepts my insurance it is their responsibility to know where to send the labs. AVOID completely. read more
