Amy is such an amazing photographer! She took our family photos for our christmas card this year. This was our first time using Amy Millard Design and Photography, and to say that we were pleased it an understatement! I Always find it overwhelming coordinating what my family will wear in regards to style, prints, colors, etc.... I sent Amy a picture of a dress that I had in mind and she sent me a complete color design/ideas with color palette and all. I have never had a photographer do this before. SO helpful! Amy was referred to me and my now husband by our friend/wedding coordinator. My husband and I wanted a very laid back, relaxed vibe to our wedding and therefore our photographs too. Upon first meeting with Amy, she was so accommodating to our personal tastes. She had packages to suit any budget and we really loved the fact that we got a digital copy of the photos too. Her ala carte menu was great and didn't lock us into purchasing more than we wanted or could afford. Fast forward to the wedding day. Amy was great! She came early to snap a few pics of us girls getting ready and we really enjoyed having her there. I was amazed with how many wonderful pictures she captured at the ceremony and reception because we hardly realized she was there! She took the perfect balance of the "posed" pictures with family and the candid shots of toasts, tears, dancing, and laughs. After our wedding day, she sent out a link where our guests could order whatever pictures they wanted. This really simplified the process! I could not be happier with my experience with Amy. Period. Five stars is not sufficient. Finding a photographer was very difficult, bordering on exasperating. I'd find amazing pictures, send an email, get back a demoralizing and hazy answer about pricing. My first phone call to Amy was a 180 degrees from that experience. There is more to consider when choosing a photographer than I ever could have imagined. The planning phase, coordinating with vendors, rehearsal, ceremony, party, and then the anticipation of getting your photos after. As I worked through the headache of vendors who struggled to email, scan, send mail, respond to phone calls and communicate, Amy was an absolute professional without being overbearing. I really wish I had something else to hire her to take pictures of because it was such an enjoyable experience. She was up front and easy about pricing, sending me clear cut information that was beyond fair. She met with me to talk about what I wanted, and helped fill in the details where I didn't know what I wanted. She checked out the site beforehand without making my life more difficult AND without asking. (Vendors don't do things like this! No other vendor did a site visit of anything). We hired her to photograph our rehearsal dinner. She was generous with her time, had scoped out the location, and was ever present but never obtrusive. The candids that she took of the rehearsal were so much fun for this more intimate party with our family. The pictures from the church were amazing. She had us sit in a few places that didn't seem too striking at the time, but turned out to like photojournalism pics. Her talent for working with lighting was exquisite. In a dark room in the back of Café Calabria she gave us detailed photos of all of the guests and food. In rays of sunlight through the church window she made it look like time stopped for an intimate moment in the middle of this frenetic event. We took two hours in between the ceremony and reception for photos in Balboa park. I felt so comfortable working with her. She was so patient and eager to help us get great pictures. On returning to the wedding she managed to take amazing still images that captured the movement of the dancing. Numerous guests commented how they didn't even know she was there, and wished she had been at their wedding. We paid a little extra to get 10 photos back within 48 hours. I highly recommend this. We were able to put an amazing photo on custom Snapfish cards, and have them waiting for us when we got back from the honeymoon. She had an entire website with a link ready for us three weeks after the wedding. I've gotten such a great response from everyone who has seen the pictures, not only for their quality but for their quick turnaround and ease of viewing. Talented, approachable, subtle, unobtrusive. The best vendor I worked with the entire weekend, without question. Your wedding photographer search ends here. I am very thrilled with my daughters wedding photos. My favorites are the spontaneous ones taken. It captured the bride and grooms laughter and happiness of the day. One of my favorites was my daughter stopping and giving me a kiss and her husband stopping and giving his mom a kiss. Our little family of 3 was tickled pink by the lovely photos Amy took of us. Our favorite hiking spot, Mission Trails, was the backdrop and she captured our 4 year old quite well in action and on the move. Amy even managed to get some nice shots of just the two of us adults. I found out about Amy through some friends after I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had wanted to document bits of my journey through pictures but wasn't looking for just any old self proclaimed photographer with a new cannon and a good eye. I wanted someone with a background in documentary/journalism photography and Amy is exactly that. I heard about Amy through my sister who has had some photos done by her in the past. The first time we met she did my maternity photos. We met and had coffee prior to the shoot and discussed location and how everything would work. She is very personable, when we spoke I felt like we had been friends for years. We walking over to this great little path and took photos there.
