There is a choice of roast beef, roast pork or roast chicken. You can have small portions of the beef of pork but the chicken is just the regular size serving. The service is friendly and very good. Do make reservations as they are very busy on Sundays even during the off season. The roast is served with oven roasted potatoes (delicious), stuffing, Yorkshire pudding (large), crackling, gravy and a very nice assortment of vegetables including cheese topped cauliflower. The roast is nicely cooked. It is a way to start the day, some time over a glass of wine, people watching and enjoying a very well cooked roast. We came here for the roast twice. We also came for breakfast one morning as my husband had a craving for a proper breakfast. They had a special of eggs benedict with spinach and mushrooms that included a glass of orange juice. I opted for this. My husband had the pancakes and bacon. For those of you from the US or Canada be forewarned that the pancakes here are small (about the diameter of a teacup) and the order came with only 2 slices of Canadian bacon. My eggs benedict did not come with any hashed browns or potatoes. My eggs benedict were delicious with a very generous amount of spinach and mushrooms and I was full but I did miss having hashed brown potatoes with it. My husband was disappointed in the size of his serving. We would definitely return for the Sunday roast but don't think that we'd return for breakfast.

They served 4 large shrimp and a large bowl of the beef and potatoes. More than enough for two people. Our bill for two beers, two glasses of wine and the food was $43 US. The beautiful music has been replaced with loud disco and rock music and the once great food is not as good as it once was. To their credit they have kept the same menu. A bad meal or two can be forgiven as there can be problems with kitchen staff but the way they destroyed the ambiance, which was the cornerstone of the establishment, can not. I could hardly finish my meal with that music blasting. Back in the day it was difficult to get a reservation but now you can just walk in and get a table. It's easy to see why. We were in pretty early (by Portuguese standards at least) for lunch during the off-season, so we had no issues getting a table for six upstairs with a view. During the busy season I would expect this place to fill up quickly though. Service was friendly, and as usual the servers spoke both Portuguese and English (and probably a smattering of French and German if I had to guess). The menu also comes printed in all four languages, which makes life easier. The food was generally very good; the artichoke tapas was basic (cool artichoke in olive oil and garlic), as was the octopus (grilled and chopped). The chicken piri-piri was excellent; cooked well so that the skin was crispy but the meat was still moist, and with just the right amount of heat in the butter sauce dabbed over it. Overall a good meal in a great location, we would certainly return.
