It is within walking distance of the town square and all the venders in the downtown area. The daily rate of $32.00 seems reasonable. The couple who operate the park are friendly and helpfull. The park is attractive, there is laundry facilities (we didn't use them) & bath and shower facilities if you need them ( we didn't use them either). Now the NEGATIVES: If it rains very much the park turns to lots and lots of mud, which it did the week we were there. The park is older & was designed for older RVs, ie 20-25 ft. long & only needed 30Amp hookups. We tripped the breaker a couple of times. We also had electrical problems with the park hookup as did another RVer, his kept going on and off one day. The park is owned by the operators father who if you have a problem refuses to come to the park. He shows up long enough to create a problem then leaves and the couple who run the place are stuck trying to solve what he caused, she says "you'd just have to know my dad", not a good answer. Two of the 3 entries are difficult to maneuver thru if you have a newer (and longer) RV such as a big 5th wheel. Half the park is on the LOW end of the park and if it does rain very much it becomes a real mess, one guy had to spread hay just to pull out and he didn't have a big trailer either. We had a 4 wheel drive Dodge or we probably would not have been able to pull out since we were on the low side of the park. One guy hit the metal corner post at the entry with his trailer ( mostly his fault but still it is a real problem where it's at but it's protecting the power pole that's also located at the entry) not good either. I gave this park 3 stars mainl because the couple who run it are nice and are "stuck" much like we almost were otherwise I'd rate it a TWO !!If you do reserve a site request one on the high side of the park and you'll be better off.

I thanked my brother for not killing me but I suspected the runway had to have been pretty good for him to land on it. Used for private and corporate use, they offer fuel and maitenance services to all. They also have training for those who want to get their private pilots license but I know its not cheap.

It was a comfortable bed and had everything you would need to stay for a night or more. If i can give any advice for anyone, do NOT skip out on the drunk tank. Spend some time with Trina and you'll have a night to remember and a night full of laughs. Trina had us rolling in laughter the whole time we spent there. It definitely made our weekend. The Drunk Tank is an experience like no other. It's located in the basement of an old jail house in…read moredowntown Rockville. There's nothing fancy about it. Concrete blocks with names written in marker and smells of a musty basement, but the wine flows and the entertainment is like no other. The wine likely is whatever is on sale at Walmart, but I promise it doesn't matter. The bartender, Trina, will make sure you have one hell of a time. She may sit at the piano and play a little song, tell some jokes, or pose you for photo shoots. I've been a couple times now and it's always a great time! If you're in the area, it's a must stop at place!

The Fountain County Courthouse is amazing, jaw dropping, a true experience. Like most in Indiana,…read morethe Courthouse sits on a large Square. From the outside, the courthouse looks modern, though built in 1936. Inside, after passing through security, the first floor is filled with cases of historical artifacts from each of the townships in Fountain County. On the second floor begins the most phenomenal collection of murals. The showcase murals flanking the entrance of the building were painted by the famous muralist, Eugene Savage. Turns out that Savage grew up in Fountain County. Then there are murals covering all the walls of the second and third floor that capture the evolution of Fountain County. The artwork is amazing. There is a pamphlet that walks visitors through the history of the murals or an audio tour can be pulled up on your phone. People were walking through the halls with their kids explaining local history. There is a sense of energy and community pride here. In addition to the art, the building is incredible, filled with art deco shapes. A central large atrium is naturally lit by glass skylights. The marble staircases and columns could be out of a Gatsby movie. The building was designed by Louis L. Johnson and Walter Scholes (Lafayette). We were lucky enough to meet the court clerk. She let us in to see the (all original) courtroom. The courtroom is immense with lots of beautiful wood. (Photos are not allowed.) The clerk, who is second generation clerk, also told us that this is the fourth courthouse. One of the previous courthouses burned down shortly after it opened. She also told us stories of the ghost that visits the Courthouse. The staff is knowledgable, friendly and interesting. A visit to the Fountain County Courthouse is a great experience. There is history, government, art and many friendly staffers. Put a visit on your Indiana bucket list. Parking is free.

This free exhibit (donations are accepted) can be self-guided by picking up a brochure in the main lobby of the first floor. If you would like a more group oriented tour, a docent from the Fountain County Art Council, Inc can be scheduled through the Auditor's Office (765-793-6243). In a time right at the end of the Great Depression, many artists were provided opportunities to paint murals inside the post offices of the state. Though the Covington PO did not receive a mural, the local leaders of the town decided to have muralist Eugene Savage organize an enormous mural covering 2500 square feet, which includes the entryway, and the interior walls of the courtyard on the first and second floors. The majority of the artists who assisted Savage were women (including two of Savage's nieces. Though Savage is given credit for both sides of the entryway, the rest of the murals were done by the ladies. Beginning in 1937, there was a 2-year process of planning and organizing the works which began in 1939. By the time the works were finished in June 1940, the cost had reached $90,000. As time passed, the murals needed attention to preserve them so in 1983, with a cost of nearly three times the original price, the local groups raised money to preserve the murals into their excellent state that can be seen today. The style of the work is very fitting for the times. Depicting time periods of the history of the area, the artists mix images of different aspects of life for the period juxtaposed with same era, but not necessarily images you would see together in a more realistic setting. The images have a softened look, looking more like caricatures in a flat 2 dimensional style than trying to look lifelike. Very similar in style to period artists like Thomas Hart Benton and Grant Christian. I like that each section of mural identifies the period and the artists associated with the paintings. I also like that the folks of Fountain County realize that they have a piece of history quite unique in its scope and preservation efforts. It is truly worth stopping by if you are in the area to view this massive art installation in person. Review #949

I must confess, I didn't know Montgomery County had a visitor's bureau until I was almost through…read moremy visit. I had walked right by the building, but didn't notice a sign. So once I saw the Bureau on the historic downtown map, I went back over to check it out and pick up information. The name is a little confusing as on the wall, it's called visitor center and on the map it's call visitor bureau. The inconsistency makes it tough if you are searching Yelp based on name. The center is quite nice for a small town with coffee and restrooms available. The staff was friendly and was working on a project when I walked in, but stopped to talk and answer questions. They have flyers and maps that were helpful. There is 2-hour street parking available. The Bureau is directly across the street from the Courthouse.
