Normally I have a good experience with this practice, I have been seeing the same doctor for years…read more She is not the focus of this review (maybe incidentally). I have surgery coming up in two weeks so naturally there is a bit of a time crunch. Pre-Operative testing and blood work needs to be completed by next week. Strike one. I take in the paperwork the surgeon's office had given me to give to them. Oh, no, it has to be faxed, we don't accept written orders. Ok, (insert trouble with an entire phone system crashing taking precious time). Then the doctor's office faxed the orders as requested, they told me the time of day that they had been received. I called to confirm that they had arrived. No, nothing in the fax machine. Okay, I called back in the afternoon and the person (the same one I had spoken to in the morning, by the way) said that the doctors were all taking care of patients and they would review the fax at the end of the day. Why on earth, didn't she tell me in the first place? So do you wonder when I got a call back? Two days later. So I told them forget it I had the work done elsewhere. So, perhaps they could work on their communication skills?

After a terrible first visit to this place where the only thing that was established was body…read moreshaming by the doctor, I gave the practice another chance today. They don't get any more chances from me. The receptionist was quite rude, and clearly put out by me having an appointment, and although finally assuring me that my appointment was fine and someone would be with me shortly, she came back 30 minutes later and told me they didn't have anyone who could see me. Clearly they are not ready to deal with patients on a human level and I'd have to say organization is severely lacking. If people are coming to your medical facility, most likely, they're not having the greatest day they could be having. Perhaps a little bit of compassion and empathy would go along way with people. I will say I have had wonderful interactions with both Melissa and Jessica. Outside of them, the practice has nothing going for it.

After having had a pretty nasty chest cold, and running a fever between 101°-104°, I finally went…read moreto my local urgent care facility. The Nurses were kind, responsive, and showed genuine care and concern. They got me right in for a chest x-ray, which i learned showed nothing of concern. Dr. Joan Venerosa, PA, however, was dismissive, condescending, and glib from the moment she walked in. She was argumentative, dismissing my symptoms as insignificant because she "didnt hear me coughing", and that my ongoing fever was only slightly elevated. (102.6° at the time of my visit). Ok, so you dont think I'm sick. But to treat your patient like they're a bother, or overdramatic ? To make them feel uncomfirtable or like they need to prove themself to you? You chose this profession, Dr. You chose to provide care to those who are seeking it. Where in your handbook does it state that you are to dismiss and shrug off someone who is asking fir your advice and expertise? Is it your goal to have your patient think, "Wow. That was a waste of time"? Do you encourage this dismissiveness? Do you hope that next time, i dont bother to seek medical attention? Customer care and service are the most important part of most any industry - medical included.

I talked to United Health Care and was told that if she had gone to Emergency instead that Emergency is required by law to let you know whether or not the provider on duty is in network but that Urgent Care is exempt from this law. I notified my local federal and state legislators of this loophole. Meanwhile I can not recommend St Marys Urgent Care as I felt that even though probably legal the billing practice was unethical.
