I had a two-hour lesson today with Henry, and it was fantastic. I have previously driven only in…read moreNorth America, and though I've been in Sydney for years, I've always been scared about driving on the left side. Henry made it so much easier than I could have imagined. He's extremely calm and confident - exactly the sort of person you want in the passenger seat when you're learning. He was eager to help with the specific issues I wanted to address, and he also quickly identified a number of ways I could improve my driving that I hadn't been aware of. His instructions and tips are clear and easy to remember, and his confidence is somehow infectious. The experience really allowed me to overcome the anxiety I've had for so long about driving here. If you're wondering if it's worth the money, I'd say definitely -- being a good driver is so important, and investing a bit of money for a few good lessons could save your life. Probably a good move even for experienced drivers who just want some expert suggestions and evaluation. I've already signed up to learn how to drive a manual with Henry, and looking forward to it! (Also, he's a really nice guy.)

I love the French and I love their language...and for years i have been struggling to adopt being a faux francophile... but somehow whilst at Alliance I had a small experience of what it would be like to be a native speaker... Once you work out what class you're in...you're off to begin your classes... The groups are very small....and you get wonderful tutelage... all the classes are conducted in French only (WHAT? BUT I CAN'T SPEAK FRENCH!) - but don't worry...you'd be suprised how much you understand with hand gestures.... Alliance is more expensive than most other places but they have a wonderful reputation and excellent teaching standards... it's a really nurturing environment and it's the closes you can get to a l'ecole (school) in Sydney... I could write in detail the weekly negative experiences I had at this Day Facility, but when I dared mention it to the supervisor he used it against me and our family and called us whingers. For the record, sent our kids to other daycare's nearby and elsewhere and never complained as never had any issues. I start by questioning whether the early learning professionals can actually speak English and whether they have Australian accreditation. Lets say they do, when I speak to them I have no confidence this is the case. Lets focus on one incident, when I picked up my child he was soaking wet and though this happens, the lack of explanation was the worse part and including Montessori making excuses about how my child peed on themselves (though they didn't bother to change him) or it was my fault when I washed his hands? Accidents happen, but playing the blame game wrongly is the worse part and this was 'endless' including when my child came home with a bruise or had to tell me he was hit by another child, its the lack of explanation or knowing when it happens is the most concerning. Your child and your money, but I couldn't pull my child out fast enough and so glad I did!!! Loads of better choices nearby and well worth the wait.
