It's clean, it's got lots of snacks, the hot food area is OK,, lots to drink, the bathrooms are clean, (although, sometimes there is a line for said bathrooms..) and the employees are friendly.... also, it's literally right there as you get off I-5. I often stop when I am passing by. So, why did I take away three stars? The gas prices. DO NOT FILL UP HERE!!! I use the "gas buddy" app to check for gas prices in whatever area I am in. I highly recommend using this app. The day I was here, , gas prices at other stations, in the area we're about $4.60 to , $4.70 a gallon. Here at the airport? $5.40 a gallon. And it's not just because of the airport overhead. They know that they are going to get the people returning rental cars, who didn't fill up before they got back to the airport. This is one of the busiest and most expensive Arco gas stations in Sacramento because it is the only gas station in Sacramento International Airport. I'm sure nobody like the high price of gasoline, but I do understand they have to charge more for their location. Sacramento International Airport has a huge waiting area for vehicles coming to the airport to pick up their friends or family. But the site is an empty field only! Another option is this Arco gas station. They have a section at the far end of the gas station you can stop for a short period. The good thing is you can refill your gas tank. You can get a soda and snack in the ampm convenience store. Of course, you can't park your car there! The Arco Gas Station in SMF is huge. Clean, safe, and convenient. While the staff at this Arco always seem friendly, the management needs to take steps toward cleaner restrooms! I stopped to get gas at 8:15 AM and used the restroom. Very unpleasant! I would figure that in the morning it would be much cleaner. Not the case! This seems to be the "norm", as no matter what time I come through its always the same. These restrooms are not gender specific and are used by all. The walls are dirty, the toilets are filthy, the smell of urine is terrible. More Love Should Be Expressed, You Customer-Jerks! SITREP "My Personal-RENTAL Gas Station" (not to be confused with my review on my "My PERSONAL Gas Station (Valero)". I rent a lot of cars from the Budget and Alamo rental agencies here, most of the time without engaging any flights. Mostly picking up a quick weekend-rental, but sometimes a week-long rental. I will typically take the Yolobus to the airport from downtown and get the rental - when done with my trips, I need to see that the tank is refilled. This station is usually where I get that done. SETUP This Arco is literally a godsend, and here's why: * Onsite AT the airport, less than a mile away from the Car Rental Terminal, it's close and it fills the tank conveniently and quickly! * LOTS of gas pumps! It makes the fill-up process QUICK since I've NEVER waited! * For a NON-membership business (ie. Costco, Sam's, Safeway, etc.) this is the cheapest gas in most of the Greater Metropolitan Area. I don't know where most of these other reviewers are using for comparisons (ie. Costco? Sam's? Again, membership clubs are NOT an honest nor accurate comparison). * Hella stocked up on all my favorite munchies! And really, for the 5-7-minute "relationship" that I give to any gas station, there really isn't more that I could ask for. [Except, what the hell with the Car Wash? Desperately needs a masking requirement and social distancing for entry. When I visited yesterday I watched a woman in a group of three unmasked tourists sneeze without properly covering her mouth and there was literally no way to get out of the spray zone, it was so packed with people. I am a ride share driver and spend a lot of time and money at the Sacramento airport and the ARCO AM-PM. I have always liked the staff at this location. However recently many of the crew has left and the new employees are NOT as customer oriented as the older ones. It is NO longer a good experience to shop this location. Gasoline is $0.30 to $0.45 more expensive so I don't fill my car. I think it is time to make sure I have everything I need before heading to the airport and a few Uber riders. read more

It is the only one near the airport and those of us with rental cars are usually forced to stop in here to pay the slightly less per gallon charge than turning a car in without being full. My biggest struggle is that as busy as this place is, there is always pumps that are down, screens that cannot be read, receipt tape out, etc. Pushing the assist button generally goes nowhere and you have to go inside, wait in line, and then head back out to the line of rentals waiting behind you. It costs time and you are always in a hurry to get to a plane. If you are going to be the only game in town, you should be on top of your game. read more

Props go to this Arco for being the only gas station near the airport. Beyond that, it's not a place I ever go for any reason other than necessity and convenience. On the good side, it's a large station with an equally large convenience store. On the bad, it's usually crowded not just with customers but people waiting for flights to come in who'd prefer not to circle over and over again. Location, location, location! Arco Gas is very smart to put a gas station by the rental car return exit. Very convenient for me everytime I rent a car at the Sacramento Airport (SMF). The rental company charges a little bit more for them to fill up the tank and the gas station is located on the way to rental returns, a plus for Arco. Besides the fuel, the AM/PM is stock with all the goodies and drink before your flight and they also have burgers and dogs if you're that hungry. The restroom is very clean, considering the traffic that comes in and out of there. So next time you're in Sacramento and you are renting a vehicle, waive the fuel charge and tell them you'll fill it up yourself.
