I got breakfast and lunch here, hot egg/cheese croissants, and they also have hot dogs and hamburgers. I bought my staff a dozen individual ice cream treats, nice brands like Good Humor and Klondike. Cheap gas, ok experience but beware of the unhoused individuals around the area. They are adjacent to Suter hospital. Staff is ok- nothing really stands out about them and no one really goes above and beyond. I come here regularly though when I need a pick-me-up during the day to refuel on caffeine (other than coffee) since I work at the Medical building right next door. There is always some unhoused individual in the area and often times they are requesting money. They do their best to keep it clean but nothing really stands out. That was not the case at this Arco/ampm I put the coffee in the cup then I was looking for the sugar and I couldn't find any. They keep the sugar behind the front counter so you have to ask for it. I really appreciate this AMPM. It's a bit pricier than some other in the area because it's right next to the hospital and it's right off of the freeway. Don't expect a great experience (in fact, expect the opposite) or much convenience beyond the fact that they technically have gas pumps and use you those gas pumps to put gas in your car. But when it comes to cheap gas, they will always be a step ahead of their competitors. When gas prices soar, I come here for that very reason. It is convenient in the sense that this is a big, accessible corner lot with regularly working pumps. It is also one of (by my count) only two gas stations technically within the downtown grid. With all the driving I do, that closeness to where I travel most has gotten me out of a couple running-on-empty jams. The store itself is large and well-stocked with all the goodies a gas station patron would need. However, they are busy and the downtown foot traffic only makes that worse. THE WORST AMPM AND MANAGER IN SACRAMENTO. I used three different cards (two credit cards, 1 debit) and APPLE PAY and they were all declined. The manager was super disrespectful and rude throughout the entire exchange and kept telling me that my cards are not working. I asked him to ring me up in a different register but he refused. This is to put on notice all gas stations that don't keep their air and water dispensing machines operable. Perhaps with the help of other similarly angered Yelpers, we will force these profit-mongers to abide with California State Law to make available air and water for motorists in need (and provided free to paying customers, by the way). I filled up with gas, noticed my tire was nearly flat, and confirmed this using the pressure gauge I carry in my glovebox. I had been driving around on a tire showing less than 10 psi! So I quickly parked at the air and water machine and went inside to get the attendant to turn it on (the law requires that paying customers need not pay for air and water, so save your quarters). I was summarily informed by the attendant that the machine was out of order, even though nobody bothered to post a sign to this effect. I simply replied "Well then I will have to report you." And report them I did. I called the toll-free number on the side of the machine (which appeared operable save for a vandalized water hose) which was 1-800-356-7057. A recorded message referred me to a website where I could submit my complaint on just such a matter. The web address is http://www.cdfa.ca.gov/dms/complaint.html. I've had it with this particular gas station being inattentive to customer needs. They also never have paper towels in the squeegee islands. I USED to be frequent visitor of this gas station as I work very close by. I USED to get coffee every morning before going in for work, but have now invested in my own coffee mug and bringing from home. The morning crew are the same 2 ladies, one Nigerian and one Caucasian, along with the weird manager. They ALWAYS talk amongst themselves while helping customers and have the worst customer service!
