I originally signed up for AMP in 2019 and have seen an incredible improvement in my fitness. They have recently moved locations to 14th and Olympic in Santa Monica (originally on 19th and Olympic) and the additional space is superb! You have an indoor area where most of the workouts take place, locker rooms with showers and an outside area with picnic benches, coffee shop, sauna, cold plunge and even more workout equipment (if you like to get your tan on while training). AMP is great for people at any level of fitness because they offer many different types of classes and a very flexible schedule. Personally, my favorite is the Hybrid class where you first have a Strength portion either working squats, deadlifts, push press, bench etc., followed by a WOD which is usually a pretty intense workout that may incorporate some lift like thrusters, snatches, power cleans, STOH and cardio on the machines (row, ski erg, bike erg, echo bike), jump rope, box jumps or a run. But, if you're not into that style, they also have a Strength class, Open Gym, Olympic Lifting, and various workshops, like a Mobility class for example. There's workouts every day of the week. Monday-Friday starting at 5am going to 7pm usually, and Saturdays and Sundays starting at 8am. They also have special events that could be fundraisers for charity, beach workouts or their annual AMP Invitational. Above all, the best part about AMP is the community - the owners, coaches and members. Alex and Ahnna started the gym in 2018, participate in workouts, encourage you when you're struggling and give you specific tips on areas for improvement. Recently, I was experiencing a bit of discomfort in my elbow area and Ahnna told me that could be due to tight lats and showed me some stretches which has been helping. The coaches, Jake, Leah, Nick, Sarah, Danny, Amanda, Nadya, Nikita, Gus, Juvie, Zack are awesome people, very knowledgeable, they break down each movement, can help you modify a specific activity, keep an eye on each member during the workout and are also very encouraging to keep going the WODs. The members are incredibly awesome, very supportive, help each other out, pick up the weights/barbells, reset the gym before the next class and you can expect a high-five, fist-bump after going through the wringer together. I'd consider many of them friends. If you've been thinking about trying something new or already familiar with Crossfit and want to check it out AMP - you will not be disappointed!

Here is my daughter with owners and coaches. This made my summer. Forever grateful.

Came to Amp in May 2024 after taking almost 2 years off of fitness. Started at their old location and transitioned to the new spot. At 46 i have never felt stronger in my life. The classes and programming is what i never knew i needed to feel stronger and healthier than ever. And this summer they worked to get my soon to be senior in high school daughter signed up - first minor to be signed up. It took a little time to work out the details but they actually went the extra mile to make it work for me - a new member. I was really stoked. The members are all amazing and i appreciate the hard work and effort of ownership to protect their business. I highly recommend for beginners and serious fitness athletes.

Joining AMP is one of the best decisions I've made this year. We joined in May after moving to Santa Monica and it has been an absolute delight. I cannot emphasize how warm, welcoming, and badass this community is. I had 0 background in weight lifting or strength training, but it has been so empowering to learn a new skill and get stronger, faster, and more confident in the gym!! The space is clean and well organized, full of great equipment, and more importantly, great people!! There is an amazing outdoor space with a coffee shop where we hangout after class on the weekend, great swag, vending machine with protein bars/drinks, nice showers with all the toiletries, and all the equipment you need. There are a variety of classes with great programming throughout the day, so you can definitely find one that works for your schedule. The coaches are knowledgeable, kind, encouraging, and will push you to challenge yourself while keeping you safe. They're also just good people and will really take the time to get to know you. I genuinely look forward to coming every day and have met so many incredible people. I cannot say enough good things about AMP and feel that the community here is unparalleled. Thank you Alex, Ahnna, and Sara for everything you do, welcoming us in, and creating this beautiful space!!

These cool guys have expanded and moved to a new location. More classes, more community! I love them!!! I highly recommend everyone to try the variety of workouts!

Took a few classes here back in March, before the pandemic. This is not a CrossFit gym but the workouts and the atmosphere are very similar. The coaching here is pretty good, the facility is pretty small but they do have lots of equipment available. Right how's due to COVID, I believe they are offering outdoor classes and limit the number of people. As for parking, they have their own small parking lot it hey are using this space as an outdoor gym. There is plenty of parking in Olympic by the meters.

I've been a member of Amp Association for over a year now and it's one of the greatest investments I've ever made! You get a week free trial and ever since then I've been hooked. I've never felt more welcome or encouraged at a gym before Amp. The people are friendly, the coaches are so knowledgeable and give great advice/tips on form, and the owners make sure they know everyone which makes it feel like family. Amp also always has amazingly fun socials to meet other members and friendly competitions that allow you to challenge yourself every year. I've met so many new friends through Amp and hit so many personal records with weights since joining, and can't wait to continue. If you're questioning whether to join, the answer is heck yes!

I started coming to AMP in June on their free trial and was instantly hooked. I now have been a member at the gym for about 7 months. My whole life I viewed working out as a chore but after coming to AMP I can truly say I love working out. I have never been so motivated and excited to workout. Alex & Ahana have created such an amazing community and environment for all levels. AMP has pushed me to heights I never thought I could have achieved. The workouts are challenging and always dynamic. The coaches and members of the gym are so welcoming, kind, and motivating. Very grateful to have found AMP during such a hard year, thank you Alex & Ahana for starting this gym and community!

Just took my first class today on a Sunday and it was just what I needed to start my day well. It was a light class but it still felt the quick.. the trainer was very knowledgeable and sweet (which makes total diference). She kept correcting us where needed as well as acknowledging when we were doing it right. The place has great energy and the clientele seemed all very friendly (another positive aspect). We ended with a 5 minute yoga strecht that was very much neeeded. Pretty happy with my trial, definitely coming back. The design of the association is pretty nice and welcoming and the red and black gave a very nice look.

When you ask the employees, they say "I don't know, I don't really cycle". I'm not sure what that has to do with knowing how to use the equipment at the gym that you do in fact work at. The staff is the primary reason I decided to cancel my membership. They are simply bodies in a chair. They won't help, they don't say hello or greet you, they seem like they'd rather be anywhere else. They act like you're interrupting their personal conversation when you need to buy a water or ask literally anything. Cycling classes come and go without wiping the equipment. The cleaning standards here are 7/10. The best selling point here is the pool. It's nice to swim indoors, but there are only 3 lanes. Also, the cycling instructor, (Bernard I believe?) is the reason this gym gets a third star vs 1. Overall, the staff not knowing how equipment works, saying you're SOL when none of their bikes work, and being overall rude and unpleasant really kill the energy here more than I imagined. When I first signed up, I felt like it did not matter if the staff was rude- but here we are. I would rather pay less, knowing i'm going to get sub par service. If I'm going to pay almost $200, I would expect cleanliness and employees who know anything about the gym.

The Hollywood location has been my home gym for years now but discovered the Santa Monica location…read morewhen I started a new job almost 2 years ago now and it's great! This location is larger than the others so it's really spacious. At the SM location I've trained with Martine, Conrad, and Sean and, as usual, all are well trained, know their shit, pay attention, and are fantastic trainers! They keep you motivated. And it's great taking classes from different trainers because each one will give you a little tip that will land different for everyone. So something small, a slight adjustment, might change the way you do a lift for the better. Another reason I love this place. It's not cheap but it's worth it and so are you! No better $ spent than on your health!

I am a regular at the Studio City Lift Society but love visiting this location if I have to be on…read morethe Westside and love having that option. I love this gym and let me count the ways. 1. Clean facilities and everybody gets their own squat rack for an hour. Time is our most precious non renewable resource in our hectic lives. To get in a full body workout without waiting to share equipment and not spend any mental energy and time programming my workouts makes this membership a great value. 2. It's not HIIT, it's pure strength training using barbells and dumbbells. With 2-3 minutes of rest in between sets. 3. The classes are small and maybe 10 people at the most. It is more of a semi private training experience - all the attention and individualized focus of a top trainer with the social benefits of being part of a positive community. 4. Fast Results. Pure and simple. I've done it all: F45, Barry's, Orangetheory, Indoor Cycling, Hot yoga, kickboxing, etc. I am the strongest, leanest I've ever been and because my metabolism has skyrocketed by adding muscle mass, it's so freeing not to watch calories anymore.

The great feeling starts right at the door…read more Everyone at the front desk knows my name and greets me with a smile. Eder opens the door with a high five every single day, and Sydney is genuinely one of the nicest people you'll meet -- their warm welcome alone motivates me to come to the gym daily. Mike, the manager, has made this the best gym I've ever seen, even though it's not a top-tier location. The improvement since he started is drastic. All the cardio machines are brand new with huge screens, the stretching area has new mats, and equipment covers have been renewed. He also gets things done fast -- I asked him about battery banks, and two weeks later they were there. A few small suggestions that could make this the best gym ever: 1. Upholstery inspections should be monthly. Most pads were replaced, but a few cracked ones remain, and the cracks pinch your skin. (Also, the lower bike on the left ramps intensity to max on its own -- likely a warranty fix.) 2. Hair dryers are outdated. Other Equinox locations have Dysons -- would love to see them here. 3. Paper towel dispensers are manual. Sensor dispensers (like other Equinox clubs have) would be more hygienic. 4. The new cleaning team isn't quite at the previous level. Mopping starts 20 minutes before close while members are still finishing up, and for the first time ever, shower towels ran out. The previous team never had these issues. 5. The AC struggles on warmer days -- upper floors get pretty hot. None of this changes the bottom line: thanks to Mike, Eder, Sydney, and the front desk team, this club keeps getting better. Highly recommended!

I am a former member , with 6 years of continuous membership, and due to my recent injury on a treadmill on BH location , I had to cancel my membership since 2 months ago, when I arrived today at SM , I explained to this general manager that all I need is to be accompanied by one of the available employees to the back extension machine, for me to take couple of pictures. This rude , non-gentleman manager told me about the policy of the club being exclusive to members only , and refused to help me. I walked out feeling disappointed, disrespected , and betrayed. I don't think people such this guy name "Mike Smith" can present equinox club properly, instead they would make the reputation of the company jeopardized . He definitely needs to address his behavior, and instead of only following the polices , practice some leadership manners, as well as kindness and compassion. I would never visit this club again because of this general manager's poor skills of management, and terrible customer service. I strongly believe he doesn't fit the culture of Equinox club at all.

I've seen tons of complaints posted online, and I know many members have reached out directly through the website forms, emails, and phone calls. Despite all that, nothing has changed. A few people keep tampering with the sauna sensor by covering it with paper towels or pouring cold water on it so they can crank the temperature way up -- often hitting 220 degrees or more. Tuesday morning was my last time in there. I walked in and it felt like stepping into a burning oven. Another guy was there and told me someone had actually passed out a few weeks earlier because of the exact same issue. I rely on the sauna because of a medical condition -- my doctor even recommended it -- so this is extra dangerous for me. This isn't just bad customer service or a small maintenance glitch. It's a straight-up serious safety failure. Management clearly knows what's going on and who's doing it, but they still haven't done anything effective to stop it. At this point, I have to question the competence of the management team. The fact that they've let this dangerous situation drag on for over two years shows a shocking level of negligence. Honestly, the way they've handled this makes me wonder if they could even run a taco stand on the corner, let alone a facility responsible for people's health and safety. A lot of sauna users are older adults and people with health conditions. Management shouldn't be gambling with members' safety and waiting until someone gets seriously hurt. Because I'm not willing to risk my health, Tuesday was my last day in that sauna. As of Friday, I started going somewhere else. It's really disappointing that loyal members are being forced to leave because management refuses to fix a known and preventable safety hazard. I strongly urge them to take immediate action: investigate who's tampering with the equipment, enforce actual safety rules, and finally make this facility safe and responsible.
