I have been coming to the Ammon Veterinary Hospital since 2017 and have had amazing service and great help through various tough issues with 4 dogs. Dr. Burr and Dr. Schrader have been amazing doctors, kind to us, and empathetic. Several weeks ago, my dog was given a minor surgery to remove a small mass on her leg by Dr. Waltz. This is our first time seeing the new vet Dr. Waltz. The direction after the surgery was to let her rest and to only do light activities like mild walks. While leaving the vet, my wife noticed that the surgery wound was bleeding and informed the staff, but they told her that this is normal. Bleeding continued and my wife took our dog back. More medication was given to sedate her. My wife went back several more times as the bleeding wouldn't stop. Our dog was generally just sleeping, rarely active/moving around only to use the restroom and eat. We didn't walk her or play with her or give her excess stimulation, but the bleeding persisted until she was given staples and wrapped in a bandage by Dr. Schrader. We were told to keep applying bandages regularly until the wound healed and provided supplies. The staples began to pull out and we returned to the vet. Dr. Waltz stated to not wrap the wound. My wife expressed the difficulty of trying to keep a dog kenneled for 15 hrs as we do not live close to where we work. We explained that we were doing the best we could given our schedules but kenneling her all day was not a viable option. This conversation was not empathetic and my wife came home in tears expressing how awful she was made to feel, as if we are abusing our children. She was visibly shaken and upset at the encounter. She felt like she was being interrogated and did not feel as if she was being taken seriously or at her word. The wound continued to bleed and the staples pulled out even with mild activity such as using the restroom and eating. I took off work to get advice from Dr. Waltz. Dr. Waltz denied being informed of many of the things my wife said she had expressed to me and also took an accusatory/condescending tone with me. She stated that I should let her do her job while I do mine, which is fair as she the vet, but her demeanor suggested she did not believe me. I don't like being suggested to that my wife is lying and I have no reason to believe she would lie about what she said about our animals to the vet. Regardless, I trusted the vet that Freya needed to be kenneled for more treatment. I stated that I would return on either Friday or Thursday if I could make it home from work. During this time, and many times in the past, I have explained who to contact and when to contact, but each time the wrong phone numbers were called to give us updates. Upon calling we were told without specifics that she was fine and that Dr. Waltz was leaving detailed voice messages with updates. We have received no voicemails. We were unaware of what procedures, medications, etc. were given to our dog. I had lost faith in the ability of this vet, spoke with my previous veterinary hospital regarding the events and medical opinion, left work early on Thursday, and then called shortly before arriving that I was picking her up. We were told the doctor was unavailable and we had to wait for Dr. Waltz to give us an update. When I arrived, I was told the same. I stated that Dr. Waltz could call me when she was free, but that I wanted my dog right now. I was told that I cannot have my dog until Dr. Waltz sees me. I stated that even in a hospital, the patient can leave if they want. My dog was in a stable condition resting in a kennel. I was told that I cannot have my dog back. I stated that I would call the police if my dog was not returned immediately. Only then, Dr. Burr, who was unaware of this situation, promptly returned my dog and helped me check out. I explained the situation to him briefly and paid. I have spent thousands of dollars here since 2017. I will not return. The staff is rude. They're condescending and I personally would never do business with an outfit like this ever. at some point businesses need to understand. The customer service is still the most important thing I would not take my vet here ever again. they also push vaccinations that your pet does not need and they push procedures that your pet doesn't need. read more

I took my pup to get neutered and they were amazing. They've been seeing both of my dogs for years now and I've never had a bad experience with them. I was so scared to have my pup neutered because I'm anxious. They made sure I was comfortable and understood the information they gave me. My pup was apprehensive to go back and the wonderful staff sat with him on the floor in between the room we were in and the back until he was calm and comfortable enough to go back with them. I will recommend them 1000000% over anyone else. They are phenomenal. read more

I have gone to this vet for the last 12 years and have always had good experiences. I feel welcome from the minute I walk in the door. This year I had to help my best friend cross the rainbow bridge. Up until that point every step was done to prolong his life and give him comfort. Even with that goodbye being one of the worst moments of my life the whole staff was so compassionate and aware of my needs. Dr Burr has always been thorough, kind, knowledgeable, and invested in all of the pets I've taken in over the years. The office is clean and smells clean, (which I'm finding is not common in this area so that's a huge plus)! The prices are the most reasonable I've found as well. read more

We had thee WORST experience!!!! We had to euthanize our family pet who we've had and loved for almost 2 years!!! Dr Schrader treated our dog like a piece of meat, our dog Aries is a female and she kept referring to her as a male, instead of having her lay down on a table or lay down on the floor and letting my daughter hold her best friends head while she took her last breaths......Dr Schrader gave Ares her shot while she was standing up and she dropped to the floor and then the Dr drug her lifeless body across the floor and then when she left she hit Ares with the door!!! My daughter is traumatized by this experience.......instead of trying to make this a loving, calm experience that Dr had no empathy for our beloved pet or my daughter. It disgusts me that this so called Vet is working with animals. We will never forget that day and thanks to Dr Schrader it was a nightmare read more

We have taken our pets to Dr Burr and his staff, since 2010. They are knowledgeable and kind. They provide our animals (and our family) with the best care. Having a vet you can trust, is incredibly important. We are so fortunate to have this clinic in our area. read more

Friendly staff and they also seemed to take good care of my fur baby, but I can only give them three stars. We went in for a quote prior to having a procedure done on our pet. We decided to go with them because they were significantly less than other places. After the procedure we received the bill and discovered several hundred dollars had been added to the original quote. They did apologize because we were apparently misquoted. I tried to explain that it is the whole reason for getting a quote in the first place, so you have an idea how much you will be paying. They did end up splitting the difference with us in the end. So if you go on for a quote of services understand they might not stand by that. read more

This was our regular vet for a while, took two cats and a dog there. When we adopted a new dog, we took her in to get spayed. When we got her back she was extremely depressed and swollen. We called the vet to ask why, and that was when they informed us that she had been pregnant, and instead of contacting us to find out what we wanted them to do, they just killed all the puppies. They admitted it wouldn't have been difficult to stop the procedure and call us, but said that it's just how they handle the situation. I will never go here again, nor will I ever recommend them to anyone for this reason. read more

This is the most wonderful vet we have ever used. Recently our baby (dog) was very ill and didn't look like it would live. Dr. Burr did everything to save her, talked to experts, set up a cot and stayed next to her at nights and gave us updates twice a day. We would visit twice a day and he would always take the time to talk to us. He got her through the initial illness, then he got her through the side effects, which either of these mean death. In the end she got a blood clot to the brain and couldn't be saved. He spent nearly three weeks on a cot by her side. The difference in Dr. Burr is he loves your pet as much as you. I would not recommend this vet for two reasons. They missed a crucial diagnosis that cost our pet her life and when I voiced this on their Facebook page, rather than own it or reach out to me or anything that showed accountability, ethics or responsibility, they hid the option that allowed users to leave their feedback which also deleted my testimony. Why cover it up? Here's Molly's story. We brought our friend to you because she wasn't eating and we wanted to eliminate anything medically wrong with her. After an expensive blood panel you said you thought she might be a diabetic but you weren't convinced. You sold us expensive prescription food and sent us on our way. You told us to come back the following week sometime in the morning so you could test her blood sugar again. You left us with the impression that although you thought she could be diabetic there was nothing else really medically wrong with her. We walked away feeling like she was just being picky. We continued to watch our friend eat and then not eat. We watched this for a few more days and were not convinced we had found the real problem, so we took her to another vet. You faxed over your blood panel to that vet. That vet did not have to look at our friend to see that something was wrong. Instead that vet looked at the blood panels and diagnosed our friend with fatty liver and advised us to get food in her, even if it meant force feeding her. You should have told us this a week earlier. Our friend deteriorated over the course of the next few hours. We had her admitted to the Emergency Vet. They gave her IV's to help her regain fluids and she began keeping food down. We were hopeful we would be bringing her home the next day and could begin helping her tackle her diabetes once we could get her liver issues under control. She took a turn later that night because we were just too late to save her and with heavy hearts we let our friend go. You charge too much and do too little. Had her liver issues been noticed by you when we brought her in to you, we could have saved her. Because you didn't catch something that another vet caught as obvious, our friend is now gone. She was only 7. Too young to have left us. I will not recommend you. You got our money, but we lost our friend. read more

We have been really happy with this place. Close to home and Dr Miller is great. All the staff are very helpful and polite no matter what we want. We have two pups who have their issues and this place has been very patient with us. Give them a try they won't disappoint. read more
