If your expecting some sort of beautiful looking Buddhist temple you will be disapointed when you…read morefind yourself outside the Buddhist centre, but I can assure you it gets better inside and is a very tranquil and peaceful place. I got into yoga a while ago and wanted to learn more about meditation and buddhism. They do lots of courses here as well as drop in sessions and the doors are open for anyone to wonder in during the week if your in need of peace. I felt very welcomed and they encourage you to ask questions and explore the faith as opposed to pushing down your throat.

This unassuming building houses a centre for learning about Buddhism, and also for practising yoga,…read moremeditation and breathworks, or attending their occasional weekend retreats. Their six week introductory course on Buddhism covers all the spiritual basics and aims to help participants to develop greater awareness, kindness, and wisdom. It also teaches practical methods such as meditation - so for those new to Buddhism it's a good, all-round introduction. If you're just curious about the centre, however, and don't want to commit to a course, you can still visit the centre because it's open to the public on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 2-5pm. You can see the shrine rooms and yoga studio, browse the bookshop and the library, and visit the shop which sells Buddhist-related paraphernalia such as incense, jewellery, singing bowls, meditation cushions, Buddhist statues, artefacts and malas. The people you'll meet there are genuinely friendly and happy to talk to you about what they do and what the centre offers, so it's an ideal first port of call for anyone who's curious to learn more about Buddhism.
