Unfortunately, my experience with StraightLine did not go well. We were remodeling a 1700 square…read morefoot home as a long term space for my folks. We finally split after 14 months, an enormous amount of money and very little progress. We have spent over $100,000 to correct poor workmanship by StraightLine, on top of the $380,000 we paid them. Electrical was significantly underwired, hot wires were left exposed. A new header was supposed to be installed securely and was not, causing the ceiling and a truss to crack. Sheetrock was placed over necessary spaces, but not over actual holes. A sub contractor backed into the newly added garage and cracked it to the roof. Interior was painted before walls were patched. Trusses, cabinets and tile were all ordered (and installed) incorrectly. Tile was crooked with grout lines uneven. Cabinet space left for fridge was too small. Lot was not graded prior to the garage addition and water flooded into the garage and laundry. Exterior board and batten was done with untreated wood 2x4's which would soon rot. OSB was used in soffits, not plywood. And those are only a few of the issues. Would definitely do it differently if I had to do it again. (Staff was lovely, work was not up to the quality and standards I know they would want.)

Their designers are great at giving you a visual of the bathroom and your own selections included. The process is excellent the whole way through with someone checking in regularly and a group text so you can always get ahold of someone. Highly recommend.

Their communication with us was constant and we were able to track the progress and access their schedule online, which was great. As with any full remodel project, glitches come up and GKB got an A+ in problem solving. We will be recommending GKB to everyone we know. Thank you Gainesville Kitchen & Bath!

So after all the happy reviews on here, here is one on the opposite end of the spectrum. We…read morecontracted with them to remodel our kitchen and master bathroom. We contracted with them in the fall of 2021 and they started work at the end of May 2022. So, here is just a few things that went wrong... 1. They never told us they would be working only one maybe two days per week. They showed up Jun 1, 2022 to demo the kitchen and bath. They never mentioned that when the demo was complete two days later that no one would show up until the following week to continue. They had a schedule but never bothered to let us know what it was. 2. I tried calling the supervisor to ask where the workers were on the third day of construction using the number from his card with his instructions for me to call him anytime I had a question and he never called me back the entire day. I called the main office looking for our sales rep and she never called me back. I received a call from someone else within the company and was basically told that we are lucky to have someone come one day a week as we lived all the way out here in Mcintosh. After a few choice words were spoken the conversation ended. Great customer service..sheesh!! 3. The electrician showed up to rough in the new electric. They wired in a three way switch that did not work. They wired in a light in the shower area and did not wire in an on/off switch and left the light on. They used a circuit breaker in the breaker box that i had disconnected and did not tell me it was active again. They cut the cable that went to the internet outlet. The wired an outlet wrong that went to the microwave and it was not working. 4. They measured three times for the new kitchen cabinets and when the new cabinets were installed they were wrong. There was a 6" gap from the last cabinet to the wall instead of the planned three inch gap. There was a two month delay getting the new cabinet in. Of course they could not install the kickplates or crown molding until the new cabinet came in and once it was in there was a week delay until it could be installed. 5. We had a reverse osmosis system on the kitchen sink. When they went to install this system under the new sink they did not know how to get it working. I had to get it working for them. 6. When they install the new kitchen lighting system one of the lights was going to be right in the middle of the crown molding over the refridgerator. They did not plan out where the lights should be, The electrician just winged it with no regard to where the cabinets and crown molding would be. 7. The cabinet installers could not install the stove cabinets because the stove exhaust vent was installed in the wrong place. No measurements were taken. When they went to install the overhead AC vent in the kitchen, they did not measure the existing vent cover and made the hole the wrong size in the ceiling hole. 8. We had a new shower planned in the master bath that included a handheld as well as the main shower head. When they installed it they did not put in the handheld. The wall had to be cut open to fix this problem. Then after it was done and the wall plastered and painted it had to be opened up again as the diverter valve did not work for the handheld. Our hope was that after opening the wall one again they would test the system to avoid the wall being open yet another time. 9. The guy who measured the shower door for the new shower measured it wrong and when he went to install it, it did not fit. They had to reorder a shower door and that took three weeks to get the new one in. 10. The tile guy for the bathroom installed two chipped tiles. We had three extra boxes of tile and he did not consider using another tile. He went and installed and grouted two obviously chipped tiles. We had them replaced. 11. Our sales rep told us she was going to check in weekly to see the progress, never happened. She showed up maybe twice the whole time of construction. 12.Whenever something went wrong, which was often, there was the usual blame game going on. The contractor blames the sales rep, the sales rep blames the contractor or they blame the sub contractors. My honest impression of these folks was this was actually their first remodel because the mistakes they were making were basic errors that someone in the business for any period of time should not make. Two different people measured the same area for cabinets and yet they were wrong. Plumbing missed that was listed in the contract. Features ordered in the contract that were not supplied. 13. The project was complete on Sep 2, 2022. While the end result of the kichen and bath are acceptable and nice, the hell we went through along the way to completion should not have happened. A lot of errors were made that a company that has been in business as long as they have should not have been made.

The short of it is that building with House Craft Homes was the worst experience of my life. It…read moretook 21 months for them to finish our home. The whole company (or should I say family) is full of liars and are unprofessional. Not only did it take an outrageous amount of time for the house to be completed but there is so much poor craftsmanship or unfinished work that we had to fix/finish ourselves after moving in. Avoid at all costs. For those who are interested in a more in depth review, see below. If you want to look at your new construction home and think "Wow, I could have watched a youtube video and done it better myself" or "I guess I'll just have to fix that after we move in" then House Craft is the builder for you! You will also get to watch your home be built at a snail's pace while other builds in the area get started after and finish far before yours. Building a house with House Craft Homes has been the worst experience of my life. House Craft Homes is an utter disgrace to builders everywhere. To start, Larry is a snake oil salesman. He is a cunning fast talker who lures unsuspecting victims onto House Crafts sinking ship. He will tell you anything you want to hear, pretend to "throw in" extras that were already included and make the deal sound extra enticing to get your deposit and the contract signed. Next, there is absolutely no scheduling or communication within this company. They don't communicate with each other, they don't communicate with their subs, they don't coordinate subs with each other and they don't communicate with you (the purchaser). On the rare occasion you do get a response from Stephanie (the owner of House Craft) she is rude and spiteful. Stephanie will refuse to meet with you in person to answer questions you have and then rudely email you things like "If you know so much why didn't you get a contractors license and why you didn't build your own home". The 6-9 months timeframe for completion outlined in the contract is a LIE that they have no plan on sticking to. As we approached the 6 month mark on our build the only thing completed was a concrete slab on the ground. When I asked Danny (the General Contractor) for a schedule that they follow to ensure things are being completed in a timely manner he informed me that they don't have one and if I wanted to help out he "would really appreciate it"... It took 21 months to complete our home (I actually had to start calling subs and scheduling them myself to get the job done). It took so long that our builders' loan EXPIRED and we had to refinance months before the house was complete (in case you were wondering, yes there are additional closing costs associated with refinancing and our interest rate increased significantly making our monthly mortgage payment about $700 MORE EVERY MONTH). They also charge you for things on top of the agreed upon amount outlined in the contract without your consent or prior knowledge. On top of that, when you can get one of House Craft's subs to the house to work; their craftsmanship is terrible.I can't even tell you the number of contractors and subs who quit halfway through each step of our build because they couldn't work with House Craft a second longer. There are many things that we just did or fixed ourselves because House Craft wouldn't fix it or couldn't be bothered to make an attempt to come out in a timely manner. If you would like more detailed examples of the hellacious experience we went through with these builders feel free to reach out to me. I am astonished that this company is still in business. My sincere hope in writing this review is that I am able to save someone from having to go through this same awful life experience.
