After paying and picking up my vehicle, it didn't even last 3 miles before the check engine light and multiple warning lights came back on. I called immediately and was told to bring it back. The very next morning, the truck wouldn't start again. When I contacted the shop, they couldn't even help with a tow, forcing me to pay out of pocket just to get it back to them. Once it was there, the communication was nonexistent. No updates, no calls--nothing. I had to chase them down myself. After being told I'd get a callback (which never happened), I called again before closing and was suddenly told I now needed to pay another $1,300 for a fuse box. So after charging me $1,400 for a "fix," they completely missed another major issue? That should have been identified from the start. When I questioned it, I got no clear explanation, no accountability, and zero empathy. Just another bill. This place seems more interested in getting more money out of you than actually fixing your vehicle correctly the first time. Poor communication, careless diagnostics, and no customer care. Take your business somewhere else.

Independent shops are usually reliable as they live and die by their reputation, but often times they can be hit and miss. I can only speak from my experience but I can report to you that Dave's Auto Repair is the real deal. The shop is owned and run by Armando and his family (Armando bought it from Tim, the former owner, and Dave used to run the shop). Armando knows cars, and more importantly, he knows how to treat people right. His prices were competitive or better than other quotes I got, and he didn't try to upsell me on unneccesary repairs. He did give me a heads up on a few things to keep an eye on, which I appreciated, and he even threw in a few freebies which was unexpected and much appreciated. What's also nice is that most independent shops are only open M-F but Dave's is also open on Saturdays, which makes it convenient for those with work/school during the week. I'm very happy with my experience at Dave's and it gives me piece of mind knowing that I have a great mechanic I can take my car(s) to from now on.

My car wasn't starting and I had just replaced my starter beforehand DIY and couldn't figure out what was wrong. Within 5 minutes, King had already pinpointed what was wrong and my car was started. Unfortunately, the repair ended up taking an additional 1.5 hours because the parts that arrived were incorrect or defective. I wished they had called me as soon as they found out about the delay. I understand that mistakes can happen and that the parts supplier may have been responsible. My disappointment wasn't the delay itself per se--it was how the situation was handled. The unexpected delay forced me to change my plans for the day. I politely asked whether they could offer any type of courtesy credit or even a coupon toward a future service in recognition of the inconvenience. The owner declined, stating that it "was not our fault" because the issue was with the parts supplier. While that may be true, as the customer, I chose Midas--not the parts supplier. I wasn't asking them to accept blame for the supplier's mistake; I was hoping they would show some goodwill for the significant inconvenience caused during my visit. The repair itself appears to have been completed successfully, and I appreciate the technicians' work. However, customer service is about how a business responds when things don't go as planned. In this case, I left feeling that my time and inconvenience were not valued. It was my first time using Midas. Unfortunately it may be my last one. So much for the Midas touch.
