A very very long wait for walk-ins. It would be smart to get an appointment. There was only one person ahead of me when I came in but it took an hour to get into a chair, apparently because several other people came in with appointments. Considering it's a straightforward barbershop with no shampoos before cuts, the haircuts are very slow. A simple haircut takes longer here than any other place I have seen. While I was waiting, the average time for a cut seemed to be around 30 minutes. Some of these did involve a little beard work, which obviously takes more time than a haircut alone. It also might be because it appears that some of the barbers cannot talk and cut hair at the same time, but do a lot of taking. However, once my turn finally came I received a haircut that I was quite happy about. Make an appointment, or bring plenty of patience, but Amici is a great barbershop in Miami Beach. read more

These guys are honestly really great. They go out of their way to make sure you get what you want, make sure you got great hair on the way out the door. The prices are super reasonable which makes it easy to tip big, which always makes everyone feel good. Last time I was there, we got into a discussion of Cuban pastries just sort of conversationally. Well, after the cut, the barber went to the refrigerator and came back with three of these really awesome hard-shell Cuban dulces -- one for him, one for the assistant and one for me. :) It was a pretty awesome bit of sharing that I really appreciated. AND I left with a great cut (and went across the street to get a cortadito to wash it down!). ALSO -- you can book appointments online. I really don't like giving bad reviews, I feel it's bad karma but this is again another below average quality haircut in Miami with basically no service so it wouldn't be fair not to say that. It was a quick cut made by Oliver, who's on the good side a very nice and kind person, so nothing personal here. I've asked for only scissors which I saw him using for a few minutes then straight razors on long hair both on the side and on the back. I mean STRAIGHT RAZOR on long hair..everybody knows it's the perfect recipe for split and dry hair. Back end mixed with electric razor and straight razor, no shave foam for ending part, no disinfecting at the end. I came out with zero styling, which is not a big deal but the fact that I've run my fingers through my hair to check length and he just let me walked out the door with messy hair without even fixing the look a bit, that speaks about lack of care or simply poor service habit. It's not his fault, it's the general culture here that is not inclined to high quality. And quality is not luxury, it's simply care for what you do in whatever form or price level. Park in the small street-level lot and take the ascending staircase to the right. II. SERVICE Even though there was a language barrier, because folks in the area, and Miami in general, mainly speak Spanish, I was able to convey what cut that I wanted. Roly cut my hair exactly how I wanted and was efficient with his time. I loved how he used a tiny blade to cut the tiny hairs that I didn't even know I had. He also greased up my hair, so I could look like a G. Stellar, man. Stellar. III. AMBIENCE/ DÉCOR It's kind of confusing once you're inside. There's a waxing studio on the left and the barbershop is on the right. Also, there isn't a host to greet anyone. It's an updated barbershop with plenty of seats for waiting and a few monitors to watch TV. IV. PRICES So, I would say that my haircut fell on the pricier side, but it's not too bad for the quality of service. Here's the breakdown: -$25 for the cut. -$14 for their recommended pomade. -$7 tip. V. OVERALL I literally traveled all the way down to the Southwest part of South Beach to get my cut at Amici, and I think it was well worth the time and money.
