When you place an order, they appear to be nice and helpful and always willing to understand should a product not work. They are not. In trying to purchase compression stockings for my 93-year-old mother, I was told "We are always here to help in case the $73 stockings do not work." First try the calf high stockings would not stay up. Second try the stockings were not sheer and to heavy. First time there was not an hassle with the return label. Second try I was told I had been given a one time courtesy and this time $6.95 for the postage on the return. When I complained, the agent said she would go ahead and issue a full refund for the very last time. Keep in mind that I had just spent $125 on a new order going back to the knee high 15-20 compression. BEWARE! read more

They need a -0 star... since April when i order online a pair of socks which quality is bad.. and I must returned in the same bag they sent it; sent proof of everything the asked in their return policy. Is July and these people just keep asking for proofs like we are playing a game? The point here is : they'll do whatever trick they have not to reimburse your money. While my initial review was completely accurate and I did give Ames Walker several opportunities to provide me with a acceptable solution, in the end they were very accommodating and helpful. The problem is getting a quality product. If you get a quality product, it's pretty good. But out of 4 identical items in an order, 3 of them are trash. When returning them, they might send more trash. If you return those, they charge you. They used to be pretty reliable but not anymore. I've ordered their products for years but I just can't seem to get any good quality from them anymore. Poor value and poor service. read more

Disappointed with customer service. Placed an order and USPS lost the package and no updates were made for over 10 days. I asked customer service to reship after several emails and they would only do so if I agreed to sign for the package (as if it's my fault and tracking shows it is lost in USPS system). I work and couldn't guarantee to be home and really needed the products I've been waiting for. I requested a refund and was just told to ship the package back if it's ever received. Clearly they don't care about first impressions, as this was my first order. So, I ordered a replacement on Amazon and the package will be received today. read more

I do not recommend this company due to their customer service. I bought two pairs of the same boots in two different sizes in two different orders. I ultimately sent both back due to fit issues. One of them got lost in the mail and was actually somehow never scanned into the postal service's system. I had contacted Ames Walker via email asking them if they don't have insurance for such an instance, and they said no, not without a tracking number, which didn't exist because the package seemingly vanished off the face of the earth. A decent company would have corrected this to maintain customer goodwill, but not them! I disputed the charge with my credit card company, which was denied because they said they had refunded me, using the proof of the pair that was sent back and not lost. I called the credit card company, and they reopened the dispute on the other charge, and again, this unethical, greedy company submitted proof of the refund on the not lost, returned and refunded pair. I called my credit card company again, frustrated and upset, and finally they understood what was happening, that Ames was attempting to pull the wool over their eyes and cheat me out of close to $260! They told me that it's on the merchant for such an instance and is the cost of doing business. They should refund me with interest as they held onto my money for several months! They do have nice shoes, and I have problematic feet, but I will never ever buy anything from this merchant ever again. read more

Bought products from the company. The products were okay. I got an email from them asking for a review so I reviewed a product with 3 stars - it had good compression but was sized wrong so it didn't fit correctly and hurt (was too long so I had to fold the top of the sock over). I did use the sizing chart on their webpage to pick the size. Someone messaged me from the company when they received my review telling me that I could exchange them - I asked how much it would cost me and how to do that. A few emails were exchanged where she told me how to measure (I'd done that) but she NEVER told me how to exchange or what it would cost so clearly that isn't an option even though she was the one that offered. Then I went back to their site and saw that they had blocked or not posted my review. So this company lies. If they don't like a review of a product, they simply block anyone from seeing it. How is that helping customers to make sure they get the right fix and quality? Their products have great reviews because they don't post the honest ones. For $30 for a pair of compression socks - I'd expect them to fit properly AND to not have the company block and lie about reviews. read more

I've bought support stockings for my varicose veins. They are good quality, very reasonably priced, and they have excellent customer service. Shipping is also very efficient, and low or no cost. I have no complaints. They send out periodic emails, if you register for their email list. They will notify of specials, which make their good prices even better. I recently bought some wrist supports, and a knee support. Good quality, and saved some money from buying them at a local brick and mortar. I purchased a Doctor Leg Rest pillow from Ames Walker for my use following knee replacement surgery. My doctor told me that the pillow was inappropriate for the surgery since my leg needed to be straight after surgery and the pillow forced it to bend slightly. The pillow did not arrive with a return label as is advertised on the Ames Walker site. When I contacted the company they told me they would not pay for reshipping. I told them I could not find this information on the site. It took customer service 10 minutes to locate the language in very fine print. The pillow was costly ($80), and with a doctor's notification, I would think such a site would accept returns on medically-related items. I will not patronize this company again! read more

Outstanding customer service from Melanie Cole who went above and beyond to help me. The truform toe free anti embolism knee high stockings are great quality and priced well. I have not removed them since my June 20 surgery, even shower while wearing the knee high stockings, thereby eliminating struggle to get them off and on with a sore back. This also has the added benefit of hiding hair growth on legs that are normally shaved daily. Exit shower, simply pat with a towel and stockings are completely dry within 10 minutes in our extremely dry summer desert climate. I will recommend Ames Walker to my surgeon's staff. read more

Such a Shame! For years I purchased my JOBST knee highs and willingly paid $39 for a pair and always purchased 3 pairs. I was always a good loyal customer. It seems that it doesn't matter anymore. I just got off the phone after a really crazy conversation with one of there customer service people who tried to convince me that a KNEE HIGH COULD BE 28' INCHES LONG AND STILL BE A KNEE HIGH ? If you ever have a return to Ames Walker, good luck. When the shipment is sent , it has a return label which states there's no postage necessary. When the return gets to Ames Walker. They charge you for the shipping. I told them I wasn't paying and the label also stated postage not necessary. I then told them to keep their product and refund my order. Got a email back from Ames Walker they're going to credit my charge card, minus the shipping charges. false advertisement and fraud in my opinion. I will be pursuing legal option. Yeah it might cost me some money. But it's worth it to expose this kind of business practice. Oh and customer service won't answer my calls about this. But response to the email. Great stockings but company misrepresented their overnight shipping. I placed an order and didn't receive my stockings overnight for my trip. I called to ask for the shipping to be refunded. They told me my order was placed too late, after 2pm when you would think 5pm would be the cut off time. I placed my order at 4pm so they will not refund me. I've bought from the best local surgical supply stores, and spent the most, and sadly found their owners to be sorely lacking. The opposite is true with Ames Walker. Their line of compression-grade and lighter hosiery is as good if not better than the well-known and far more expensive brands (which they also sell at an allowable discount as per each manufacturer), and holds up with no end in sight after countless launderings by hand and machine. (I do use "hand washable cycle" and air dry on rack and plastic clip hangers, to be clear). Orders are sent out immediately with double or triple confirmation, received earlier than expected, and customer service is professional, courteous and flexible. Their full catalog is a click away and their size charts are 100% accurate and easy to follow. The company's one drawback: they don't promote themselves enough! That's where we come in: Tell your surgeon/doctor about them, as their competitors need to get a leg up - after purchasing their products! read more

I was so pleased when I found Ames Walker many years ago and have used their brand exclusively with no issue for many years. They have provided really great service and quick shipping, etc. A year ago I placed an order and every sock I bought developed holes - most on the first wear or even while putting them on. I contacted them and after three attempts was just told they believed they changed their yarn. No offer of any resolution for having unusable products. I then thought they must have other complaints so ordered again - this time two different types of products so whatever happened with the first product I had been using for years may not be present in these. The shipment arrived and on inspection two pair had holes in them before even starting to put them on the first time. Others wore holes on first wear and two pairs have been almost as good as I have experienced over the past years. I contacted them again and after multiple requests to customer support I received an email with an apology. No offer to replace those that had not even been tried on or anything. I could tolerate a bit of a hiccup if their customer service was interested in protecting the brand but aaparently they do not want me as a customer anymore. They got their wish. read more

This company lacks business ethics, customer service, and professionalism. They do not live their values as represented in the "Ames Walker Promise" and do not fulfill their value proposition. I ordered stockings that I needed to address a complication after surgery. I needed them asap so paid for the UPS Air Overnight. Note: my order was placed at 11:43 am When my purchase did not come the next day I called customer service to follow-up. I was told they don't carry that item, and it was drop-shipped from Jobst. The may not carry the item however I was able to order it from their website, and they happily took my $ 29.95 overnight shipping fee. The customer service agent claimed it was out of their hands and a Jobst issue. She even had the audacity to "apologize on behalf of Jobst." I have ordered in the past with this company, but you can put a fork in me because I am done with Ames Walker's lack of integrity and unfair business practices. read more
