I think I have had 18 officers an 6 EMS professionals at my house in the last 10 weeks. I will say that to my surprise there wasn't an asshole in the bunch. They are literally PAID to do a job they either refuse to or are completely incapable of doing and instead of owning up to that fact and finding careers better suited to them they continue to victimize the generally good-natured and law-abiding, instead of the real perpetrators, to project some illusion of progress and control. Most of them are obese, which is insane. They couldn't even chase down a shoplifter, let alone bring real and dangerous criminals to justice. If their bodies are any reflections of their minds we are all SCREWED. When people's lives and welfare are concerned and you all are MORE than amply compensated there is no excuse for such blatant and profound weakness and ineptitude. Everyone makes mistakes, I get it. But when a department not only continually makes them and not only does NOT correct them, but does everything in their power to try to cover them up and save face, yeah, that is no okay and I will continue to criticize them until they become a force for good in our community. Being personable and hosting little community events with free food and activities for children (which I'm sure WE are still paying for) is not going to cut it when we are paying them more than sufficiently for doing jobs they aren't doing. Mental health and narcissistic abuse are still crises in our society and we pay these people to show up to complex and loaded situations with guns and knowledge of psychology and interpersonal dynamics comparable to that of your average 3rd grader. Where are all of our tax dollars being spent? Because it certainly isn't on effective training. I self-educated on these topics because I wanted to be able to help myself and those around me. That is the least that all of you could do if you actually want to be of service to the community. There is so much free information out there, there is no excuse for such ignorance. Craig Bully-Me is not what West Des Moines needs. We need someone with emotional intelligence, empathy that outweighs personal pride and gain, intuition, and integrity. You're telling me in all the applicants for police chief there was not ONE that had these qualities? I'm a cynic and even I find that hard to believe. Good and capable people exist. Stop throwing our tax dollars at these self-serving, narcissistic, inept men that know how to talk a good game. Their results, or lack thereof, speak for them. Are you suffering abuse, in fear for your life, or in need of general help? They absolutely do not care and will not even pretend to, I promise you. But criticize them? THAT is how you get their attention. Pride and self-preservation are the dominating forces in Craig Bully-Me and WDMPD and it SHOWS. Yes, they will help, but only when the cost of not doing so would be too great to them. The only reason they have ever helped me is because they all would be out of jobs and likely in prison if they hadn't. And, if you ask me, that's exactly where they belong. After everything I may just become a police officer, because I actually give a sh*t and want to help people. Finding a non-corrupt department is the challenge. How are you going to ACT like you care when your department looks like a sampling of random individuals from the Iowa State Fair and you have no knowledge of psychology and interpersonal dynamics, when virtually every single event you respond to involves them? WDMPD- If you can be honest with yourselves for 2 seconds you know how many missteps you've made and what all of them are. No, I'm not going to hold your hand and walk you through everything so you can save your jobs and face. I have enough to deal with and I'm rooting for massive department and societal change that likely will involve all of your dismissals. You want to keep bullying me? Fine, but it's not going to save your jobs or reputations, I can promise you that. No amount of bullying and harassing me is going to convince anyone you are doing your jobs. Only, you know, doing your JOBS will do that. No one else, absolutely NO ONE else would have survived what West Des Moines and Ankeny police have put me through with their carelessness and ineptitude. They all should be thanking me PROFUSELY for my bravery and strength, because it is the only reason all of you aren't in prison as we speak. I shouldn't have to be this strong, but thankfully for me and all of you I am. And, genuinely, I hope the guy who shot at one of your officers gets off. You take already horrible situations and escalate them to gratify your own egos and need for power. Maybe I'm wrong, but I would bet good money that situation could have ended peacefully had there been proper training for that officer and/or had they been a decent and empathetic person. How many people have landed up in prison thanks to your insatiable egos and need for relevance?
