It's so sad, this was an A+ company with excellent, I mean Excellent Customer Service. We've been with them for 20 years. If you had a question, you could call, they'd answer it in 5 minutes. And it was the right answer, not a made up answer - or something they thought you just wanted to hear. I even recommended then to a local business - who subsequently hooked up with them. Loved them. Then came Covid. They closed, for the most part, their regional locations and created a central answering, help, order delivery hub. Wait times are HUGE. We got a propane fill in late October, 2020. Although we have been customers for 20 years, they somehow changed our address, so we did not get a bill. A month later, only due to an awesome mail delivery gal, we got our LATE bill, still with the wrong address, the charge per gallon was wrong & it included a late fee. Called our local connection Sue Lin---, who has been working with us for 5 months - 11 emails thus far - to help us get the pricing corrected and pay our bill. Shout out to Sue!! If you're a business looking for an amazing customer service person, she may be searching. LONG story short. Per company policy, Sue was not allowed to accept payment. The online bill had the wrong amount, so I wouldn't pay there. The billing department never sent a corrected bill - we requested this at least 3 times. Called their billing center, explained all I wanted to do was pay our bill. After being on the phone with then for 57 minutes & 17 seconds (shows how annoyed I was by this time - including the seconds), they still could not figure out how to accept my credit card! At this point, I TOLD them that I was done wasting my time trying to pay the bill. It was THEIR responsibility to either: send a paper bill or call ME back when their system was working, and I would pay over the phone. It's 2-16-21, we will need a propane refill within a couple weeks. I have not received a paper bill or a call back. They may not refill because we are such lazy slackers and haven't paid our bill! I usually write reviews that uplift and promote great businesses; this review was very hard to write. I hope Amerigas reads this, take it seriously and becomes the company they once were. read more

Bunch of crooks. Finaly picking up their tank after I called several months ago to have them pick it up after switching to the much better Excel company. Now they are trying to charge me for picking up their own DAMN EQUIPMENT. So glad I switched companies...bunch of ripoffs read more

Had them for about 8 years. Last two years paid $2.50 per gallon. Changed to Excel, charged $1.19 gal for 1st year, 1.69 later. BUT just got a bill for $69 for picking up tank which was below the 5% required. I'm contesting the charge. Not happy. I would not recommend them. read more

I was a customer with Amerigas for a few years. They pushed the online ordering. My online account would not work. I tried to reset my password but they never sent the link to my email account. I tried to call them because I was about out of propane and everytime I tried, the message said there was an 88 min. wait time. I was about out of gas. I then got a bill in the mail saying I owed for tank rental. If they would answer their phone or fix my account, I would have bought the gas before the deadline. Many more calls to get my tank filled ended with an unreasonable wait time. At this point, I had no other choice but to sign a contract with a new company. I still couldnt get thru to let them know to pick up their tank. I ended up sending them a return receipt letter explaining all of this and telling them to pick up their tank. There was no propane left in the tank. I then got another bill with the tank rental, a pick up service fee and a pump down fee and late fees. They couldnt have pumped down my tank, as it was empty. They are charging me for services that they never gave me. I paid the bill of over $450.00 of B.S. charges, because I dont want this on my credit report. I will be looking into some kind of legal action for theft of services. read more

I had been a customer for 6+ years with Amerigas and things were ok to start.....when I started going to Florida I was unable to use the 330 gal. tank of gas in the years time. Then the true color of Amerigas reared its ugly head. $129.00 tank rental was charged but I paid it unhappily! When I found a supplier with a 100 gal. tank and no setup charges and gas prices quite lower than what I had been paying, I changed. I called Amerigas to ask the policy for picking up the tank and was told it had to be 5% or less gas in it and then they would pick it up. I ran the tank down to the required % and called them. I must have waited 2 months for them to get their tank when the company was only 7 miles from my house...then they proceeded to charge me 59.99 for their tank. They are in this business only for the money! Please check prices on propane suppliers in your area including setup and removal. Their are many good ones and their name is not Amerigas. Martin L. We had Amerigas for over 3 years. Upon finding a cheaper rate, we decided to switch companies and did so. They unhooked the Amerigas tank and put in in my driveway in an easily accesible area. Approximately 3 months after they came and removed their tank, I began recieving bills for varying amount due on the account, which was always paid cash, on an as needed basis, we had been paid in full at the time of the tank pickup. I called today (04/26/2017) and was told by a customer service representative that the amount due on the account was 377.31, and the breakdown was as follows. 125.00 Tank rental for 1 year, 3 account Late Fees @ 36.00 per, 149.00 "pump-out" fee, and a 59.99 fee to dispatch the truck to come pick up the tank. I'm not disputing the validity of the 125.00 tank rental, I only ordered 140 of the 160 gallon required to have that waived but the remaining fees are not only exhorbitant, but I feel as they are predatory. My contract was good for one year, I fulfilled it with no issues, and never resigned anything as the account holder stating any other terms. They've never provided any proof that the tank was over their 5% threshold for moving propane tanks ( it was empty, thus why we changed in the first place to a new company) and then to charge me to come pick up the tank feels as though they are depriving me my right at a consumer to find a better price at a better company. The company has been completely unresponsive to any sort of a settlement on this bill with the exception of offering to remove 2 late fees if I paid the account current, and I don't feel I'm responsible as I didn't receive a product or a service from them after I had the new company set their tank. read more
