I was there yesterday and after waiting for 30 to talk with someone about a repair on a diamond ring, I was totally disgusted with the persons I talked with. We had the prongs on the diamond replaced in November and now in March, one of the prongs had broken. They informed me I would have to pay $270 to do the repair. Came in with my girlfriend to find an engagement ring she would really enjoy on her hand. We have both been married before and we don't need all of the traditions of engagement/wedding planning to be really happy. So we had a little twist to a traditional engagement, we flew into San Antonio for a quick weekend trip and ate good Mexican food and shopped together for exactly what my girlfriend wanted. It was well worth the trip, this is the largest diamond jewelry store in the US. The diamonds are all natural and all are certified, mostly GIA. The diamonds here seem to have a better sparkle than what I see at other jewelers and at the end of the purchase, I feel like I'm really getting what I thought I was buying. No high pressure commission based sales people. Just knowledgeable and very helpful associates as you consider all of your options. We walked out both very happy with our experience and she left with a ring that made her smile and blush a little. I highly recommend going to Americus Diamonds versus the internet for such an important purchase. Their prices are just as good or better for the same quality you find online and you get to look at a lot of diamonds and settings to make sure it's what you really wanted or thought it was because each diamond is unique and you have a high chance of being disappointed when purchasing without inspecting the diamond. Stay far far away. Horrible customer service. I came here last winter and I waited to write this review because I was extremely annoyed and didn't want to write out of anger. I feel like jewelry stores in general are awful. And I hate them. I'd rather stand in line at the DMV/DPS. But this particular visit here , they made me feel extremely unwelcome. I came here to spend $$$$. I walked up, the officer buzzed me in the door. As I walked through looking around, the officer informed me that they were not open yet. It was 3 minutes till they officially opened. He continued and said he accidentally let me in and said I had to leave because they were really strict about the times. Apparently they don't like making sales. I had to leave? For 3 minutes? Are you kidding me? Absolutely ridiculous. Would have been better not to let me in at all and I would have had no problem waiting three more minutes. But if you're going to mess up and let someone in three minutes early, that's on you, at that point you should have just let me keep browsing for three minutes. I thought he was joking. But nope he was serious. I was upset, and said nope! I took my $550 to a different jeweler. Though that experience wasn't the best, at least I felt welcomed. My husband purchased my engagement ring from here, with me, about 2 years ago. Yesterday I finally had a medium sized diamond fall out of the setting and I was unable to find it, one of the prongs damaged and the other bent to hell. I was frantic, and called and was told no info over the phone. Fine, I live down the street. We went in, had to wait, they were busy and it was a Saturday. Anyone who has worked in retail/customer service should clearly have some patience when visiting a high end jewelry store that has a handful of employees and a full show room ... anyways. They were sympathetic about my ring, and while I'm disappointed they don't have a warranty, I was able to trade in my engagement ring even with a missing side diamond. After all was said and done Michelle and the other nice lady (sorry I don't remember!) helped me pick out a beautiful same K quality diamond that was bigger, ( i wanted an upgraded diamond anywhos) and exactly what I wanted with no more medium side diamonds and prongs. I looked at it under the microscope, and received the new diamond certification before even getting my new ring, which I believe really says something about their integrity! They offered to sawder my new engagement ring and my original wedding band together which I wasn't offered at my original purchase (I didn't even know that was a thing, thank you Michelle!) It was a lengthy process but out the door only had to finance an extra $900 whereas to get the missing diamond repaired, it would've been $400 or more. I traded in my old diamond and band, while it's still gorgeous and sad to see it go, they really helped me out. They were patient with me and my husband and 1 year old daughter, and gave us snacks and drinks! I get my new trade in ring today, and will post an update. :) Also UPDATE- I found out at my first meeting of Americus diamond that they DO NOT get paid commission! They also have long hours, and are open just about every day.. have some patience with the employees! read more

I really have had nothing but awesome service at AD. I never had an engagement ring, we had our little plain gold wedding rings when we eloped. So on our 10th anniversary my hubs bought me a beautiful radiant cut engagement ring at AD. We went back to get it sized and we changed the setting. Let me start by saying my fiancee purchased my ring here in 2012. Why no review? I was saving it to give my full range of thoughts since buying the ring and what I have found since. We picked the ring out together. We found the loose diamond a radiant cut 1.21 VVS1 G colored Radiant cut diamond. Beautiful it does come with the GIA certificate. The diamond was priced about $7500. Online by searching the certificate number it was listed at about $2-2500 cheaper... but who knows when that was published originally. But I can certify that GIA is a real place in Carlsbad, CA where i used to work (in Carlsbad, not GIA) it is very close to Legoland and it is a very real very serious place to be. They search their employees on the way in, and on the way out. Not allowed to leave with anything in you pockets. etc. On to the ring: We were told to examine the ring under the microscope. Great! I've always wanted to do that. Unfortunately ive never seen a real diamond under a microscope so to me it means absolutely nothing to me bc I have NOTHING to compare it to. During the purchase process we enjoyed a setting that had an emerald cut in it (a halo setting) and we could remove that diamond and put the new one in but it would take several hours if we did decide to buy it and come back to get it since we live in Austin. They were still trying to sway us so they had their "gemologist" come out to talk to us. A very young Hispanic guy comes out...as soon as he started to speak I knew he wasnt a gemologist. He started asking the original sales girl where we got the diamonds from... what country? he didnt know any specifics about must of anything. Also: they do not allow pictues. Something to do with that they create all their own settings and they wont allow anyone to leave with their "ideas" unless you have already bought said ring.lol. Ok. no pics. EVERY WHERE ELSE allows photos, found it odd they dont. CLEANINGS: sometimes it takes 15 min. 20 min. 30 min, 45 min? one time it took almost an hour. I was shocked. But I was told my ring was very dirty. You know I'm sitting there on that sofa praying they arent switching out my diamond right! But I know that diamond now like the back of my hand since we paid almost $13,000 for it. There will be no mistaking the setting, the diamond , none of it. NEW RING: I went in the store one day to browse the mens wedding bands for my love. Loved one, but it was an eternity band and ran about $3,000+.Well he didnt like the diamonds going all the way around. He just wanted it to be halfway. I asked if I could get a price on that. sure... no problem. NEVER heard back. ok. Called one day and explained this situation. Asked if I could get a price quote on it and call me back. She seemed very put out by the request and said that when he was sized it was a 10. I told her he is an 11. She said but it says 10. Ok, lets meet in the middle and price it at 10.5? She argued back that its best if he just come in and get measured again b/c the price she will quote me is only valid for 48 hours. Ok.... What does a quote good for only 48 hours have to do with measuring him??I'm telling you what I want a price for ... is it possible to get a quote on that? Begrudgingly she agreed to call me back. Never heard back again. Saddens me bc that was his #1 pick. We moved on from there after he quit working in SA so much and has been back in Austin full time - thank God! We ended up ordering his ring from somewhere else. I went in there about a week ago and got my ring cleaned. It looks good but I can still see a big spot in it. I needed it cleaned for the big wedding day and all the photos so instead Ive just been wearing it as little as possible and trying to keep it clean. Looking back I wish I had bought the ring in town... these folks didnt seem to want my business all that badly... RINGS: with all that being said, they still have very beautiful rings here folks. more selection than I thought... and you can ask to see many different loose diamonds. the grading is specific unlike box stores (zales, kay, etc) but the diamonds are cut beautifully so they do sparkle even though they could be filthy. Keep em clean, get them inspected and stay on top of it. Explore your options. read more

Really upset with these guys. Way back in 1991 we bought my engagement ring here. Now 2018 the stone fell out of the setting. Amazingly I found the stone , brought it in and I mentioned the warranty. I was asked for my receipt( good good 27 years ago!!). I asked" isn't that in your computer?". I was told no since it was so long ago it would be on paper as they have not entered receipts before a certain date. I was advised to go home and look for my receipt. I kindly asked the woman to please go and Check to see if she could find the receipt in their storage. She left for about 15 minutes and came back and told me that she couldn't find it. Then I was told it really didn't matter because the warranty would not cover putting the diamond it the setting and I would have to pay approximately $190. When we bought this ring in 1991 we paid over $2000 and when you pay that much money for anything you remember warranty info. So yes I should have kept better records of my purchase but really America's diamonds, you have not enter the purchase receipts into your computer since you have been in business?!?! read more

Have been to many many different jewelry stores in and around San Antonio and abroad. Most are in it to win it on commission. However, these guys definitely are not in that ballpark. Whenever they purchased the diamonds, they are purchased and marked up at the current time and will be the same price even if you come back eight months later for the same ring. Upon informing this to Rachel, she was quick to show the ring to the designer who returned with Rachel to inform us that Americus Diamonds was capable of replicating the same ring we had purchased prior. Not only were they going to replicate the ring exactly, but they were going to add more gold than the ring we had purchased already! We were so ecstatic! Great diamonds, terrible salesman. The sales associate, Enrique tried to scam us by accepting our trade-in but saying the new purchase didn't qualify for the full trade in value. Even when questioned he was wrong. He finally saw the "light" and got the trade-in policy right! He was grumpy, telling us he was tired and hungry. He was not a good listener either. Upfront, I told him that we wanted diamond studs of the same or better quality than the studs we were trading in. He brought us gems of lower quality.
