Nice appliances beyond what you might expect. The room has a Keurig coffee maker, a fridge and microwave, an iron and ironing board, even a blow dryer! Though it may appear from the outside to be your typical motel, it is anything but. Good air conditioning and clean fresh bedding were well appreciated. There's a bar and grill right next door with good food, willing to make up carry out orders if you prefer to eat in your room. Overall, I recommend Rumorz, it's a perfect vacation spot in a very charming lake community.

Lots of fruit, cereal, yogurt, bread/bagels, etc. If you're on Mason City, it's impossible to imagine a better option than this Holiday Inn Express. Other than that room was comfortable & good weekly rate of $225/wk in off season (was there in Nov,). Internet service was not very good in Rm25, disconnected a lot then reconnected. Rm25 is great corner room with extra windows & good views! They also have a patio area with BBQ grills, pizza oven, microwave, stove/oven, all utensils & plates/cups, you can use any of it & leave it there & they wash everything.....this is a very generous thing of the owners to do, so please don't steal stuff & ruin it for the rest of us honest people. Came back at 8pm and nothing had been done. Complained to the desk clerk (different person) who found me a new coffee maker. The TV remote was not working, because the remote sensor on the TV had fallen off the TV and down behind the TV -- I jury rigged it to work. Clearly no one was checking these things as they prepared the room. The room was supposed to be serviced every other day, but they missed my room, so had same towels and trash accumulating for 4 days. The elevators and hallway carpets went uncleaned (trash and dirt on the floors) for the entire time I was there. I'm complaining to Hilton and I won't be going back there.

Bathroom in the king suite - Large bathroom (for a standard hotel) with larger than average closet space. I liked that the shower head was on one wall and the control knob was on the opposite wall. New hotel with modern feel. The staff was very courteous and nice. I got my requested room type and location. Good location. Within walking distance to several eateries (a few of them basically share the same parking lot) and a HyVee grocery store with a Starbucks inside is right across the street. This location has 4 or 5 dedicated Diamond member parking spots. What I didn't like/needs improvement: Cleanings- More attention to detail needed. I found one too many hairs from the desk to sheets to shower. And when I moved the mini ottomans (to clean them), I found a bunch of crumbs from the previous guest (I assume). Breakfast- Not a lot of options. Vegans had fruit (orange, apple, or banana) or oatmeal (the lady said she only uses water; no milk). There was cereal but they only offered cow milk. Parking- Every day, several employees were taking up the Diamond member parking spots. Regular spots were right there. (idk why this peeves me so lol) USB ports- the ones on the desk didn't work. (However, there are 2 more on the nightstand so it really wasn't a problem for me.) Kitchenette- I wish the suites would be upgraded to include a full-size fridge.

It's not a dump; I've stayed in worse places than this, it's clean and all that but I'm disappointed in Wyndham for keeping this place on their roster. To wit: The room is cramped. There is a desk, but the desk chair cannot be pulled out comfortably because it collides with the bed. The desk surface is higher than standard writing height and the hydraulic chair does not raise up enough to compensate. As a result, I'm typing at almost shoulder level. There is no convenient place to plug in the power cord for my laptop, unless you consider crawling on hands and knees, under the deck, to reach a power strip "convenient." There is a shortage of outlets, and task lighting is just a notch above darkness. There is an ironing board and an iron, a microwave, and a refrigerator that has no freezer compartment. (Which means my freezer packs will be useless tomorrow and I'll have to rely on the ice maker down the hall.) The room is equipped with one of those toy "I want to be a Kurig when I grow up" coffee makers, probably from the same people who brought you the Easy Bake Oven. (And the coffee is just as bad as you might think it would be.) Bath linens are old and dingy. I washed up last night with a wash rag that looks like a farmer used it last and it didn't get laundered. Oh, it was laundered, it's just tired. So were my other linens. The outside security door is not secure. Someone taped the panic bar into the open position so the door never latches. On top of that, the peep hole in my door is broken and plugged with tissue. I suppose if someone knocks on my door, I'll just crawl out the window. The bed was comfortable and I slept fine. The property is smoke-free, negating the complaint from three years ago. If you're desperate for a place to stay, you might pick this place. It's right off I-35 and it's clean, it just wouldn't be my first choice.

I was assigned a room on the third floor and when I first walked in, everything looked in order. The room appeared to be clean, but once I pulled back the sheets, a used paper towel fell to the floor. After a closer inspection of the paper towel, I called the front desk to let them know what I found. The lady on the phone asked what I would like done and I told her I would like to have housekeeping change my sheets and she said they were gone for the day. I then asked if I could have a new room. She told me to come back to the desk for a new room card. Once downstairs she had my new room card ready for me and I was now on the second floor. Again, everything in the room looked in order. The room was clean and had a king-sized bed. It had a work area with a satellite TV. There was a refrigerator, coffee maker, and ice bucket in the room. In the closet there was an iron and ironing board. In the bathroom there was a bar of soap and makeup remover towelette on the vanity and in the shower there was shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The room was fine, it was a little tough to control the temperature in this room and all four pillows were down-filled and terrible to sleep on, they flattened out too much. Based on my stay here, I would pick a different hotel the next time I'm in the area.
