I like this place; have stayed here several times now over the past few years. It's one of the…read morequietest places I've ever stayed, even compared to those at 3x the price. No slamming doors from automatic door closers, no 2nd floor neighbors stomping around above you (single-story bldg.), no construction workers shoveling ice into their giant cooler at 4am and sounding like you woke up in a hail-storm, etc. and you have to turn the a/c *off* to even hear the faintest of traffic noise passing by. Black-out curtains with no split in the middle keeps the room dark for ideal sleeping, even at sunrise. Staff is courteous too. Doors to the room open into a hallway, then the hallway opens up into the outside. This ingenious design makes an air-lock that makes it 10x quieter than any other motel I've ever stayed in, and quieter than most every hotel too for that matter. And the price is great! ($49/night). Rooms are clean and freshly painted. Older construction, but kept up well. Very basic; no room svc., no in-room coffee makers, no free breakfast (most of which are all a joke these days anyway, so . .) but if you want a decent *quiet* place to sleep, at a very reasonable price, I haven't found anything in Sealy that can touch it. They hardly ever answer the phone, but no reservation is needed; just drop in and ask for a room. About to travel to Sealy again, and will be staying here again (for the 4th or 5th time now) . .

BlissWood Bed and Breakfast Ranch - Luxurious jetted tub in the bedroom of our Enchanted Cabin

BlissWood Bed and Breakfast Ranch

I have been curious about Blisswood for awhile. I like getaways with nice tubs and hot tubs. This…read moreone seemed to foot the bill being close to Houston. I was on the fence as the pictures made it look nice but was it dated? Too country? I wasn't sure. So...headed to Wimberly, I decided to break up the driving and try this place out. So, now I'm thinking Blisswood is running out of bliss. We arrived at night and let me tell you, it is hard to find at night. When I called the owner about getting inside since the gate was shut, she explained we had to open the gate (manually)...odd for such a large operation. Forget food...it is quite far for food. We wound up eating breakfast for dinner as we did bring breakfast items. The bed seemed comfy as far as sheets were clean but pillows were all soft and old. Not one firm pillow. If you go, bring your own. It did not feel antiquish. It felt garage sale-ish. Everything was very dated and just tired. The curtains really tripped me out. They looked like rags and did not even match. The shower had gross caulking that looked like mold. The cabin had a moldy smell and just looked like it was built of the cheapest possible scraps. The hot tub...see photos. We kept on one side only. It smelt like tons of bleach. The hot tub surroundings were a rickety hazard. The step down into the bedroom...another hazard. I'm sure people have fallen as it blends. Maybe I'm spoiled from my recent Round Top stays but this place needs a serious "redo." I saw the owner's story one day I believe on YouTube and wanted to support her cause. Maybe it's good for the activities. I want to believe that's where it shines. If you really love super rustic, super dated spaces, this may be ideal for you. Also, the kitchen light did not work. Bulb was out. Doesn't someone make sure the cabins are ready? Obviously not or the hot tub would not have looked like that. So, for a romantic getaway, I would keep looking. There is much better out there and even cheaper. I don't get how they charge what they do here.

A great place to explore and get away for a while…read more We came to this ranch as a bit of an escape from the city life and rest our heads. We were going to do the safari tent but the tent got damaged. So we ended up in a little cabin in the woods instead. The cabin itself was simple, but had plenty of modern amenities. A stovetop, microwave, indoor bathroom and shower, hot water, hot tub, electric fireplace, and whirlpool bath. The space was small but intimate, clean and furnished but aged and worn. It's not luxurious living, but it has a ton of luxury items that one would not normally find in a venue like this. We booked some horseback riding and wildlife safari excursions. The horseback riding was fun, slow paced but as I never rode a horse before it was enough to get the feel of things. The wildlife safari was actually quite entertaining as well. You get up close and personal with deer, buffalo, bucks, donkeys, emu, and antelope. They very much know you got food, and watching a pack of stampeding buffalo barrel towards you for food is a very cool experience. The space is large and varied, there's plenty to see and lots you can do. It's a great space to take the family to and live as simple as you would like. The girlfriend dealt with logistics, but every interaction with staff or the owner was professional and friendly. Every part of the booking, modifying, and check in process was easy and everyone we interacted with was very hospitable. This was one of the highlights of our trip, and although our weather was not ideal we did make the best of it. It's a nice place to stay and worth the trek if you just want a respite

What a dump! I refused to stay here. If only I could give zero stars, I would. It was The…read morescariest hotel I have even been in. I took a look around, and left after 15 minutes. You know how when you pull up to the hotel and you can park under the overhang and drive thru to your parking? The clerk parked his car on the other side of the over hang , so no one could have shaded parking while they went in to check in. That should have been a red flag, that the property owners didn't care about the customrs. I went into the lobby- the clerk was behind a bulletproof wall. Where the 'free breakfast' area was - there was a nasty sideboard with prepackaged Honey Buns, a very small microwave, and a dirty Mr. Coffee coffeepot. That was my second red flag. I asked 2 or 3 times, is it safe here? and the clerk said, just lock your doors. I said because it's just me and my sister, will we be safe? He said it will be ok. I also noticed there was a big sign that said, Our rooms have been renovated with granite countertops! I asked if I was getting a newly renovated room and the clerk said, "maybe......." So I drive on the gravel rutted parking lot to my room - 354. I noticed that there were a lot of transient looking people hanging out - car hoods up like they are working on their cars - laundry hung out and flapping in the breeze - open windows to the hotel rooms (it was warm and humid) and semi truck drivers pulling up and parking for the day. My room was conveniently located next to the freeway and on the side of the train tracks, just like what you see on Forensic Files. Inside, door jambs were very dirty, the slabs of plastic looking granite that were on the walls of shower/tub were not flush and there was a gaping spot in the corner where the slabs did not meet. Looked like a great hangout for spiders and roaches. I did not see bugs, the TV looked not very new but it was on the wall. You can see the old office push button phone in one of my pics. I started my customary wipe down of everything but within 10 minutes, I heard so much banging and shouting that I decided I could not stay here. I I had a bad feeling in my gut, and I knew I had to get out of there. I don't mind an old hotel but this was ridiculous. I was only able to take six pictures of what was wrong with this place, but there was so much more. There was a chain hanging from the door but no lock on the other side to slide chain lock into. Speaking of chains, have you ever seen a chair cushion chained to the chair? Me neither. The place was so dirty, sloppy, and depressing looking. The carpet was badly stained, the bathroom fan made a horrendous noise, the sink faucet did not have a screen on it, so when I turned on the faucet, the water came dumping furiously all over me. I called my friend who lived in the area and said, I think I will get murdered here and she let me stay at her house. I get to my friend's house and her brother said NEVER stay at his hotel - it's a NoTell Motel. And it is where transients live. It is not safe at all. The rooms look NOTHING like the website. I called the clerk, and said,I'm not staying here. I'm leaving the cards in the rooms. He offered to switch rooms, and I told him I did not feel safe, and that the rooms were not very clean. He said OK. That was it. It was not even worth going into the sad looking lobby to return the cards, or even tell him that I wasn't staying. I just wanted to get out of there. This is an awful place! My husband called hotels.com thru which we booked our room, and we got a voucher worth twice what I paid for the room. I wouldn't send my worst enemy here!

Let me start this review by saying I would give it zero stars if possible. I am not the type of…read moreperson to complain about a place to stay especially if it's just for one night but this place was TERRIBLE. My mother, girl friend and I stayed here while attending a wedding in Belleville and made the unfortunate mistake of booking online. When we first pulled up to the hotel, I couldn't believe it was actually open. The outside looks REALLY rundown and trashy. To the point where I literally thought it was out of business and we had made a mistake. There were no makings for parking, there were sections of the stairs marked off with caution tape, there were boards on some windows, and even more worrisome there were some rooms that were missing doors and marked off. We were very hesitant but we could afford to try and find anything last minute as we were already running late. The interior smelled old and was very musky. The toilet took a LONG time to refill before it could be used again and the plugs were practically non existent. The bed was missing support? I know that sounds weird but when you go to lay down and you literally tip and fall off the bed... it'll make more sense. To make a long story short, we locked every door, constantly checked on the truck, and barely got any sleep. Will NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN.
