Representative answering phone on Sunday 8/2 insisted reservation must be placed thru Groupon, and was unwilling to take future reservation request. His demeaner was that he was being bothered by questions, and didn't want to speak on the phone. Very poor customer service!! Definitely go for it, if you have bad day planned ahead. I wanted to surprise my child with a fun activity to congratulate him with beginning a new school year. It was all nice while we were talking to Brian, who informed us that there are bunch of additional fees applied to our Groupon. Although, on the confirmation email they sent us THE BALANCE FEE SHOWED (see the photo) But the management will tell you to ignore that information and pay attention to what they demand on the spot... Etta taxes , fees and zero apologies for providing misleading information at the first place. In addition then Keith came along, with attitude of a king of the world he informed us , that unless we "bow and kiss their.." we won't be riding. Would you still ride? We had 2 Groupons. Wonderful Day! We purchased a 1/2 hour jet ski rental and beach Cabana for the day on Groupon. The staff was fantastic and made the whole experience easy and super fun. I recommend going as early as possible - we were able to enjoy the empty beach and empty ocean on the jet ski. Also, the sun wasn't as hot yet around 10-11am. We enjoyed the shade of the cabana for another few hours. The beach did fill up by 1pm! Parking is easy and free at the company address. I'm spoiled now...not sure how I'll survive another beach trip without American Watersports :/ read more

It was so much fun! I bought a Groupon for jet ski rentals for an hour. The process was smooth, you reserve it online and there is a place for your Groupon code. **make sure you reserve during special times of 11 or 1pm with Groupon. The lady is very sweet of you have questions. You really should do 30 minutes, an hour is alot. They were great with my 5 year old son. Someone is in the water on a jet ski to make sure they are safely able to respond and bring you in when your time is up. You can stay at the beach on their beach chairs all day. Parking is at a resort with green minty shutters. We explored the resort because they had a nice cafe, heated pool, shaded hottub, and Tiki hut bar. You have a 1x1 mile area where you are allowed to ride, which we thought was more than enough to enjoy the power of your jet ski. Had so much fun that we went there twice. The owner and staff were very friendly and went above and beyond so that we could have the best experience. The equipment was in very good shape and they even offered us a waterproof bag to store our phone while on the water. Highly recommend! read more

Eventually someone from their actual location contacted me VIA TEXT (very unprofessional). Following suit with the other reviews below, these people do not treat customers well, take advantage and bully you. VIA TEXT I asked for a same day jet ski rental reservation which they said was fine, they had many availabilities UNTIL I mentioned I had purchased a groupon...which they then said they couldn't help me unless I returned my Groupon and paid them full price. Amber was really impatient with me and unwilling to be flexible at all. We tried to use a gift card to go sailing, every time we called it was booked or unavailable. We tried probably 5 or 6 times to schedule something but they were just rude and quick to get off the phone. In the end, we lost the money because it expired and she wouldn't extend it. A complete waste. Never would buy from them or support them again. Also, there seems to be some disagreement among them about their equipment - the staff doesn't know what they have or when you can use it. If you go there, plan on headaches. read more

Super fun experience. My kids wouldn't stop raving about how it was the funniest thing they've ever done in their lives. I can't agree more. 30 minutes of ride time goes by so quickly. Life vests are provided. I love how they have cabanas to use while waiting. Free parking across the street. We appreciated the laid back instructors. We did a tandem jet ski for an hour and while I'm glad we decided to do the hour (since my husband got some time to go a little faster by himself for the last 15), 30 minutes would have been sufficient due to the boundaries and waves.The guys were really chill and super helpful. I have lived in FL for over 8 years- south beach and now Ft Laud. This was THE most nice, fun and relaxing place I've jetskiied at period. Not to mention the prices are unbeatable! Can't wait to go back! Plus I had gone in via a groupon deal, And the kind gentleman running it (forget his name -shoot!!) gave me his card and said if ever we wanted to come back he would do some type of similar deal. What I liked the most is that he understood that these prices for 1/2 hour- hour of jetskiiing (at $80++) is absurd and really makes up for it by throwing in extra little things like chairs (NICE wooden ones) and or umbrellas at no cost to sweeten the deal that you can utilize all day! Not to mention he was so friendly and outgoing--Really appreciate all his help, glad I found his spot, and can't wait to go a few more times before I move from FL! I'd highly recommend anyone to go. You cannot work with these folks. They have no business sense. On a dead Monday morning, they refused our groupon because we didn't book 24 hours in advance. They also said they were booked. Literally, not a single jet ski was being used, we were standing in front of them all. I explained that it is our anniversary and we leave at 6am tomorrow. Nope they wouldn't accommodate us. We asked if they would accommodate us if we paid the full fee and they said yes. The kid working there could care less about accommodating a certain situation. So they lost two customers for life and got a bad review all because they wanted to be jerks. Not to mention they were rude and dismissive on the phone and in person. Rented a double kayak for my girlfriend and I for the afternoon. Staff were rude to begin with, it was like we were interrupting their siesta. Well when we got out in the ocean, the seas were rough and we turtled...into about 1000 stinging jelly fish...we both were stung badly. When we did return (1 hour later) and told them about the jelly fish, they said they knew! I asked them why they didnt tell us or warn us...uhhh no answer...sorry...and no offer to refund our money.. This is an "on the beach" water sport rental place, with jet skis, sailboats, kayaks, etc. I actually went to try stand up paddle boarding - and had an absolute blast! It was super reasonable in terms of price, and the owner (I assume) gave me a free quick lesson before I started. That area of the beach is relatively quiet, which makes it a nice place to do watersports. Overall, this was the perfect beach activity place; I will definitely return! read more

Absolute worst place to rent a jet ski. People are rude and couldn't care less about what is going on. Everything is a hassle to them. Be prepared to pay extra plus tax for everything under the sun if you bought a groupon. Be prepared, tax is on the original price, all extra riders, the cabana and the test. They don't allow you to switch drivers because it's a hassle and takes too long. Who cares how long it takes it you have the jet ski for 30 min it's included in that time. They also charge extra for the second rider and then make a big deal about having to swipe the credit card for each person. They charge you for a boating test also, not stated in the groupon. One person had the boating card but not with them and they wouldn't accept a picture of the license. read more

Seemed like decent people until they offered to hold my belongings and stole cash out of my wallet. I would NEVER accuse someone of stealing from me if I was not absolutely positive. I rented 2 water skis from American Watersports. They are right on the beach and have free parking available. The skis were great and went really fast. The prices are the best considering you get free parking and American includes the use of their beach lounges and use of a pool right on the beach if you want to hang out. read more

The staff here were very courteous and welcoming. Visiting from Canada for the week, I've noticed that the atmosphere in most encounters have certainly been different. Most people have been rude (atleast to Canadian standards) and being here for nearly a week, I've certainly started to adjust. On my second last day here, the staff, especially Jon, gave me an exceptional experience and treated me how I'd be accustomed to back at home. The instructions/guide were clear and he ensured that if we ran into any problems that he and his staff were just a call away if we needed any sort of help. Thanks Jon and the rest of the staff at Pompano beach American Watersports for making my first jetski experience a memorable one and for ending my vacation on such a pleasant note. Went here with mixed thoughts as the person I had spoken with to schedule was a bit...terse to say the least. However, on the day of, the staff working, two guys, were great! They were patient and very chill, we did what we had to do to get on the skis and it was a great time. One of the staff assured me being late would be fine and was very pleasant about it. Once we paid we were waiting for a free jet ski, while waiting my husband asked how far we could go out, and the guy responded didn't you hear me say it before to the people before you. He was very rude, we did no hear him say it as we were not around when he was telling other people. He then said fine just wait until it is time for you to ride for me to tell you. At that point we didn't want to spend over a $100 with a company who obviously did not have any customer service. We tried on several occasions to contact them to no avail to make reservations. Finally, drove there as our time in Florida was limited. Claimed they "contacted" me via text - however, the number they contacted me at via text was my "home number" which I was OBVIOUSLY not at home, being on vacation in Florida. Their "defense" - "well that is the number you booked your reservation under." Umm, yes, but there was NO indication that I would be expecting contact via text!!! VERY unprofessional. I go to rent a paddle board today and all though it is clean there is a small swell. The attendant who was extremely nice, social kid told me he didn't know if he could rent one Id have to ask the owner who was currently out paddle boarding. I yell out and grab the owners attention. I say I need a board he says "No, I don't know you man!" Turns around and goes to catch another wave. Now if it was my business I would paddle in and see what my customer wants. Since you didn't want to hear my answer who I am, let me tell you. I live right next to your water sports operation year round. I personally have rented a board from you over 15 times not to mention on several occasions I was not alone. When family visits we have taken the banana boat out on 3 different occasions, rented jet skis over 4 times, and an Ocean Kayak once. That is who I am. Feel free to check the signed waivers. It's not that you wouldn't rent to me but didn't the courtesy to take a short break in your paddleboard session and treat a local customer well. Next time when family visits we'll just walk down to 14th street. I hope you last knee high waves were worth it! read more
