I have met multiple higher belts at other gyms that have left Genesis because their jiujitsu was getting WORSE. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE. The 5 star reviews are all fake. DO NOT TRAIN HERE!!! Especially if you are new to jiujitsu. 1. The techniques being taught here are completely incorrect. You will be learning very bad jiujitsu. 2. This place is incredibly cliqy. Wendell the owner loves to claim "family" setting but he has his favorites and loves to micro manage. Not a good place to enjoy yourself while learning jiujitsu. 3. Don't listen to the people who train there. They are either too new to know any better. OR they are one of Wendell's little pawns that follow his every word and believe everything he says. 4. There are no higher belts. Think about it. They have been open a long time and ALOT of higher belts have came and left. Myself included. Because we have been training long enough and have trained at enough places to spot the red flags. 5. Wendell has lower belts teaching techniques that are just as bad if not worse than how Wendell teaches. You are paying full price for bad technique and blue belt teachers who don't know what they are doing.

I stayed training all throughout my years in school. There's no way I can put into words how grateful I am to have had this experience. The family dynamic that Master Bruhn creates really makes it feel like you're at home when taking class. Tae Kwon Do is a really great practice of discipline of the body and mind. And Master Bruhn also incorporates self defense training into the curriculum, which has definitely given me peace of mind knowing I have the skills to protect myself. 10/10 would recommend this place to anyone!
