His…read morealzheimer's had progressed quickly and my grandmother was unable to take care of him any longer at home. He had been admitted to Garden City Hospital and we had only 3 days to find him a facility for the hospital to be the ones to admit/transport him. Luckily Four Seasons was SO easy to work with. First off, you don't need an appointment to take a tour. You can just walk in and they'll show you around. The first thing you notice is that the place is clean. My aunt had looked at a few other facilities and when you walk in you're hit by a stench. This place does not have it. It's clean, and cozy. It was decorated for Christmas and felt fairly festive. It does have an element of a hospital to it (wings, nurses stations, etc) but that's actually really reassuring, knowing there's some medical care to be had. My grandpa is at the stage of Alzheimer's where he wanders at night but also doesn't really have the strength to do it. This puts him in danger of falling (the reason he went into the hospital). Luckily they have alarms on both the bed and his wheelchair so if he tries to get up on his own the alarm sounds and they come to check on him. Each room has two beds but currently he's the only one in his room. He has a a comfy bed, some small furniture pieces, and his own personal flat screen TV. You can decorate the room however you'd like and we brought some little things in for Christmas. They also have a communal dining room where all the patients are taken to eat and interact if they'd like. Unfortunately most people here aren't really mobile or in the best health so there isn't a lot of communicating around but I think it helps to just be around other people in general. The food is fairly decent too. I've only been there during one meal but it looked pretty good. Not gourmet but it was tomato soup, a grilled cheese, carrots and a fruit cobbler for dessert. The grilled cheese actually looked so good I went ahead and made one for myself dinner when I got home! The nurses and staff here are SO nice. While my grandpa had been in the hospital he looked pretty rough. When I came to see him after he'd been checked in he looked better than I'd seen him in months. They gave him a nice new haircut, shaved his scruffy beard, and he just looked healthier. Also, my grandpa doesn't speak English well but they've navigated this wonderfully. They've made a list of key phrases in Polish (too cold, too hot, thirsty, hungry, etc) and ask him if he needs anything via that. They also have rehab services so they've been working on strengthening his muscles, The other nice thing is that they actually allow pets to visit at this facility. Before he fell ill my grandpa LOVED interacting with our dogs. He's a huge dog lover. Unfortunately those dogs are a little too big and unruly to come visit but I had just gotten a puppy over Christmas so I decided to bring him with me to visit. My grandpa was delighted and held the dog in his lap for the entire visit. It was really heartwarming and raised his spirits considerably. We never really wanted to have to move my grandfather to a facility. It's hard and there is a lot of guilt involved. However, he had progressed past what we could do ourselves and it needed to be done. Luckily we were able to find him this fantastic facility which makes the transition a little easier. Makes us feel secure knowing that he's being taken care of.

Her progress from the day she admitted to Westland Nursing and Rehabilitation center to today is astonishing, I am beyond grateful for everything the staff has done for her. They did not just care for her they took the time to get to know her and make her feel comfortable. They knew her by name and every time I was in to visit several staff members would stop in her room to check in on her and say hello even if they weren't working the floor. She loved Kim the unit manager on her floor she said she always found a way to make everyone smile and brighten their day. The care you receive feels personal and that was really important to me and my family. We are beyond happy with our mothers stay at Westland and because of the excellent care she received we are able to take her home; that's a feeling I cannot even put into words. Your admission meeting is an entire week after your stay begins. NOTE: only a short term stay facility. It never used to be. Try repeatedly to push the patient out the door even though the patient is no where near ready to leave. Your surgeon or PCP have no opinion on their patients care. They should be the decision makers. Instead the office staff blames early release on the insurance reviews which are completed by people in another state who only rely on the notes from staff. So unprofessional, & cold! Only Marywood's physician who is elderly himself makes the decision on when they are ready to go. This is NOT how our senior community should be treated.

I had a decent experience here. I was admitted to the psychiatric unit in December and found the…read morestaff to be professional and efficient. I was seen by multiple doctors on my first day and had an incredibly large (almost too large - it was impossible to remember names) care team. Not a single person was unpleasant or difficult to work with. Truly an excellent team all around. The facilities, on the other hand, were a bit lacking. Sure, I'm not expecting a 5 star hotel, but the bathroom in my room was a little grimy and they definitely could have made the common areas more enjoyable (eg more communal seating around a TV, some games or books out for entertainment, etc). There was truly nothing to do during down time besides lay in bed and stare at the ceiling. It's a shame because they even have a little free library downstairs in the main wing of the building where they could take/trade books if needed. Of the (unfortunately many) psychiatric wards I've been in, this was by far the worst in terms of opportunities to entertain yourself in between groups. The groups, however, I found were nicely varied. For example, we had pet therapy one day, an exercise group another, a relaxation group, and so forth. It definitely cut out some of the monotony I've experienced elsewhere when every group is some BS about coping skills or CBT/DTB. One major plus I found was that the food was good, exceptional by hospital standards, and you could order your own meals from a fairly expansive menu. Overall a pleasant enough experience, relatively speaking. They should be impressed with their employees in particular.

You can tell by speaking to them they're not interested in helping you you seem more like a nuisance calling then an actual patient. She has access to tons of service she didn't get at home, like speech therapy, and so many more social opportunities that weren't possible when she was homebound- she plays bingo, gets her nails done, and even goes on outings like on the Diamond Jack riverboat! It's wonderful to see how much better her quality of life has gotten since moving here- I wish she had been able to come here years ago!

The service level at this facility is awful. My 85 year old mother was put in a room that seemed to…read moredouble as a storage room for old, scratched up furniture. Every day we went to the place there was no one to check who you are. You self checked in. There were times we didn't see a single person while walking through the place. Calling this place went to an automated system that routed to two nursing stations. One never answered with a message that said they would call back in 48 hours unless it was the weekend, then it would be Monday. Their social worker quit on June 10th of 2022, and they have not replaced her as of June 20th, but the phone system still sends you to her voicemail where she says she quit. Medications took up to 72 hours for them to get, including Pepto Bismal for my Mom. She went 3 days with nausea and diarrhea before they got her help even though they told us it would be done that day. Residents have no food choices. If you don't like or can't eat what they're serving you go hungry. Dinner one night was a cold turkey sandwich with cranberry juice. After 4 days we arranged for a new rehabilitation center and requested the paperwork to transfer her. No one seemed to know what to do. We were told multiple times that they were working on it, but the truth came out that they didn't know how to fill out the form online for the referral to the new facility. It took from Wednesday until Saturday at 2:00 in the morning until she was finally moved. 4 days later I received a phone call from this place asking to fill out paperwork for her. I asked if this person knew she was no longer there. She seemed surprised but said "Oh yes, we just need the paperwork for her file". If you care about your loved one, don't send them to this place.
