I wanted to learn how to play the pull-tabs while I was there. When I go to my home town Bingo Hall, everyone plays the pull tabs and I see a lot of winners. Instead of winning cash, I just won "a chance" to be placed in a drawing to win $100. So I win the drawing, but is handed a handful of "more" pull-tabs. About $25 worth I believe. So 97% of them went to trash. So after spending $40 on pull tabs, I win another drawing! Yeah!!! But what did I get? FUNNY MONEY! $100 worth of their own made FUNNY MONEY! Sure I can use it to buy what? MORE pull-tabs for more chances to win a drawing so I can win more FUNNY MONEY! I was PISSED! I would never have spent $40 if I would have known that they were gonna rip me off with FUNNY MONEY! It's funny alright.....they laugh all the way to the bank! I know I'm going to file a complaint with the gaming commission! And the younger woman working there were rude as hell!

Advance sign-up and check-in were easy, and the various communications were clear and detailed, so we knew what to expect and what to bring. The staff were friendly and professional, providing detailed instructions and encouragement. The route is fun and varied, with sights including swamps, farms, a golf course, woods, water and wildlife. The pedaling is an easy spin at low resistance. Although it was an extremely hot day for our ride (96 degrees with a feels-like temperature of 105), the trees along the way and the breeze we generated kept us reasonably comfortable. We'll definitely do it again!

While the ride to Atlanta for the New Earth Festival, the Fall train ride to Attic, and even the new Read and Ride are more budget friendly costing you under $20 with taxes and fees + The train in now credit card only, so if you want to purchase snacks from the snack car, keep that in mind.

I'm not sure if the catering is set up by the venue or the host, but it was very nice. You can rent the building that includes several bedrooms. Based on the tour, it seemed the home still has most of it's original features. There is quite a bit of parking available and you don't find a TV in every room so it's perfect to stay a bit off the grid. They did a great breakfast and made it a personal interest that we were happy there. They were easy to talk to and made us feel very comfortable and welcome. In between going to events we got to relax and have some good conversations with them about things to do in Indianapolis. They are the jem of this place. The house is very historical. We love the architecture and the character it carries. It felt like living back in time before tv's and cell phones took our time from us. Very clean. I slept like a rock in the comfortable bed. I am thankful these places still exist and the atmosphere that brings family together. I can't wait to stay there again next year.

The hostess was extremely friendly and she appeared to be very knowledgeable about the plans and how to take care of them. Not only did we get to make our own planter, but we also got to check out a new brewery or 'new to us' as We both had never been to Round Town brewery. The tender there was very courteous and offered samples and even suggested a really good mixture of their beers. For the actual event, it's pretty low-key and casual. You walk in and make sure you find whoever is hosting it so you can check in. Then you find the class that you want and sit there. Whomever is leading the event will walk you through every step of the way and answer any questions you have. The only thing that I felt was a little bit misleading about this event was that you pay for admission and then you also have to pay for a supplies fee on top of that. I feel like it would just be so much easier if you just clumped it all into one free.

I like the variety of their pictures as well as the location of their events. They travel to various restaurants to use as venues. Two of my visits have been to the Hard Rock Cafe downtown Indianapolis and one to the Spaghetti Factory since that is fairly close to my home. The restaurant staff tends to be very friendly and you get your choice of the entire menu and bar. So lots of variety, a big plus... but you also need to tip, a little downside... well I do tend to spend way too much on food and drink always... Generally the event is set up in a smaller private room, this way we can paint and follow the instructor without the usual restaurant/bar noises, which is a good thing. The instructors/artists tend to be funny or at least try... there are just so many jokes you can make and so if you go more often, you'll hear the same jokes again. They also try to entertain you with silly games while you wait for your paint to dry, because we all know, just watching the paint dry is not a highly rated activity. So far they have always been helpful if you need more paint, towels, help with the picture, repeat instructions cause you were running your mouth and not paying attention... And let's just mention that you really truly do NOT need any talent in order to paint a picture once the artists break it down for you into little easy to follow steps. And generally there are some discount codes flying around, I found a Groupon for my session and you can win a free event sometimes, and generally they give you a discount code to use for your next event.. that's how they keep you coming back ... a fun experience, a cool picture to brag with and a discount code...

I have a really mixed relationship with Broad Ripple Village, located six miles north of downtown…read moreIndy and the longest established of Indy's seven cultural districts. The area was established by Jacob Coil (which is where the recently established Coil Apartments got their name) in 1836 - Coil actually did name it Broad Ripple because "the ripple in the river at this point was the largest and widest in the country." Legend had it only one man, Isaac Simpson, could throw a stone across it. The area has nearly 17,000 residents and is known for its diverse population. It played host to White City Amusement Park in 1906 and The Vogue opened in 1938. The Broad Ripple Village Association was founded in 1969 to promote life in the area. Of course, many who've lived here for years will testify that the area's "village" vibe has lessened over the years as ramshackle buildings are replaced by high-rise apartments and indie shops are replaced by corporate chains. Crime is higher these days (though overstated in my opinion). The bar scene has always been pretty heavy in the area and the introduction of parking meters continues to be an unpopular decision. I find accessibility to be hit-and-miss in the area, though it has improved with recent construction efforts as curb cuts get better, accessible parking improves, and at least some stores have made an effort to improve access. Some of the older buildings continue to be difficult in terms of access including one-step spots right on the strip and those places in some of the older residential settings. Broad Ripple continues to be a great area for dining, the still under development Riverwalk, a handful of great coffeehouses, nightlife, and a general artsy vibe. The Broad Ripple Art Fair continues to be popular, the Vogue is still a great spot for indie acts, the farmer's market is great, and Broad Ripple Park (and family center) remains popular (Personal Note: It's also where I was baptized!). In terms of parking, there are quite a few businesses with lots, the parking garage at 62nd and College, parking meters, and the Red Line goes directly to 62nd and College. Despite lamenting some of the commercialization of the area, I still have a soft spot for Broad Ripple and spend quite a bit of time here. To catch everything available, check out the Broad Ripple Village Association website as there's an awful lot to do including the Monon Trail and the Indianapolis Art Center.

It is an artsy kind of place that is filled with public art. You will find some awesome murals here. You will also find some nice shops, art galleries, boutiques and restaurants here as well. Some cool restaurants include 317 Burger, Union Jack Pub, Rise n Roll bakery, Sun King Brewery, Broad Ripple Brewpub, the Egyptian Cafe and Hookah Bar, Hoagies and Hops, and Brickhouse Dueling Piano Bar, just to name a few. And some cool and notable shops to check out include Indy CD and Vinyl, Monon Plant Company, Uptown Pup, Prairie General, Indy Urban Flea, and the Indianapolis Art Center. It is also home to the 62 Acre Broad Ripple Park. Most of the area is covered with metered street parking with a few commercial lots also available. It is a relatively clean area that has a high class feel. It is very close to Butler University and is a popular spot for many students. This is a beautiful place that holds a large portion of the Monon Trail and runs some of the White River Canal. They host a farmers market every Saturday, year round, in the Glendale Town Center. This is definitely a place to check out and spend some time at if you are visiting. It is a cool place for locals to come to as well. I thoroughly enjoyed checking out the shops and wonderful murals in the area. This area is full of life and packed with history and culture.
