It was built in the 1920s, and the character still oozes from the building. They've made some renovations, but have kept it mostly original which I appreciate. The actual chairs are still everywhere expect for the orchestra seating, and they are sooo comfy. Trivia question: The seats have a wire rack underneath, what was it used for back in the day? Shout out to one of the ushers for this fun question. (I won't spoil the answer). Now, because it is historic, there are some things it doesn't have. One being no screens like at most concert venues. This wasn't too big a deal since the hall is not huge, but something to point out. Also can't bring food or drink inside the space to protect its historic value, which didn't bother me to be honest. This hall is also nice because due to the size, there really isn't a bad seat in the house. The side balconies aren't head on with the stage but it didn't seem to be an issue. I sat in the loge and for being furthest away, I had a clear view. They also had a cash bar in the foyer with drinks and snacks. I liked this venue because it was a quaint space, and it felt like I was going to a live theater, rather than a huge concert. It's classy and makes for a fun night out. I would love to come back and see the Lexington Symphony play here.

We visited an event here (not the theater part) where they had a Music America exhibit downstairs, and servers and music up in the main lobby. Very loud space and could use some more seating for the event, but was a fun gathering for ISDA hosted by LSEG. Cool venue, contains both the Wang and Shubert Theatres. An extraordinary gift in 1983 from Dr. An Wang, founder of Wang Laboratories, ushered in the era of The Wang Center for the Performing Arts and lead to a total of around $10mm in donations to help restore the theater in the 1980s.

Security and staff are quick to process and get you in. May want to pregame as drinks are a bit spendy here. Restrooms set off from the floor with dedicated entrance and exit to make the traffic flow good. Good smaller venue to get up close and personal for a show.

Way to take zero accountability for anything you do to make people unhappy, way to provide atrocious service and then run away from it. Zero improvements... is embarrassing. You're not even trying to do better. Here's my story. My husband had bought tickets back in like May for Slayyyter here. We were really excited about going. We get there, wait an hour in line. Finally get in and we're standing so close to the stage. I'm all excited. And then I start to overheat and feel dizzy. I tell my husband I think I'm gonna be sick and excuse myself to run to the bathroom. I'm running, literally holding my puke in throwing up in my mouth- I finally find the bathroom and as I'm throwing up I hear people outside talking and talking to my husband. Someone's like "yeah a little bit got on the floor, she has to go, yeah" and someone asking if I was drinking. I finish up in the stall and when I come out there is an "EMT" lady and a "security" lady. Both incredibly rude as soon as they saw me. The EMT lady just goes, "been drinking tonight, huh?" I showed her the X on both my hands that meant I wasn't drinking and couldn't buy alcohol in the venue. I told her I've been sober over 2 years and just overheated and I was okay. She goes "go ahead and wash your hands so we can go outside and talk" as if I'm about to get in trouble. I'm like "talk about what? I just overheated" she's like "yeah well venues have policies" and walked out. I'm like ??? Okay? So we go out and there's like 4 different people there telling us that vomiting is a biohazard so we have to leave. They don't listen to anything we have to say, don't offer us a refund, don't ask to check on me, give me water, nothing. They were treating me like I was a stupid belligerent drunk when I was stone cold sober and literally fine to go back in the crowd. Those tickets were like $500. I was literally crying as they shoved us out the side door and didn't even offer any kindness. Absolute insanity. Got ready, drove 2 hours to Boston, waited an hour in line and finally was 3rd row ready to see the show and this had to happen. I sent an email to see if I can get a refund or something because I don't know how they can just treat people that way. Didn't even offer water or anything else either. So incredibly rude. And just out $500 for what? I'm still so upset. It's like man, if you hate people so much and you're a rude, nasty person with no compassion, why be a fkin EMT? Again. Clearly yall don't even care but I'm posting this for the awareness of others. I'm not going to be silent about this one. I'm 32 and been to so many concerts in my life. Saw Lady Gaga 6 times. Twice in the big city of Chicago. Never had an experience this horrendous. You truly should be embarrassed. I've driven by Gore Place a hundred times and I recently got a chance to finally walk the grounds!…read moreIt's located right on the Waltham/Watertown line but it has tons more land than what you can see off the bat from the street view. It's a popular venue for weddings and other functions, but you're allowed to walk around the grounds from dusk to dawn. My friend has been running here and stopping by to visit sheep and other farm animals so she showed me and our 3 other friends that area. It was so cool! This is the kind of place where you don't feel like you're in Waltham anymore. We saw lots of sheep, some chickens, and a rooster. Apparently there's tours you can go on and a gift shop you can browse in but we only went to the farm animals. :)

The Commonwealth Shakespeare Company does a production of a Shakespeare play on Boston Common every…read moresummer. It generally goes two weeks, playing every night at 8 PM except for Mondays. Pull up a section of lawn ... but get there early, because the best spots are taken an hour in advance or so. Oh, yeah, it's free. The staging and design's usually eclectic, and it'll drive you buggy if you're a purist who demands that Shakespeare be performed on painted period backdrops and in musty old black broadcloth and ivory lace. Taming of the Shrew had costuming and design as if they were all paisans in the North End circa 1890. As You Like It was set around 1935, with the bad guy even wearing a black pseudo-Fascisti uniform. Hamlet had a bleak, Brutalist set where the escape scene had searchlights flashing over the stage and the sound of prison sirens and choppers in the background. The Comedy of Errors was Miami Beach circa 1930, with bossa nova aesthetics and music. This isn't your high school drama production. And what it is is AMAZING. They make Shakespeare live, they make it fun and spectacular, and you might find yourself hitting multiple nights in the same year. This is my 100th review on Yelp, and I wanted to make sure it'd be a five-star I could legitimately give ... and I've only given ten 5-stars. Hit this up next summer. Just take my word for it.

While the seating itself isn't all that special, the acoustics are quality. If you expect something significantly higher than community theater here, you may be disappointed. While the performances were fine, they're not really all that polished and feel rather barebones (two actors playing one role in a production was rather strange). If you want a more grander theater experience but without going into Boston, consider Reagle in Waltham. (For all you Yelp police out there, yes, I paid $ here for tickets so I can review)

Dinner was available for pick up at the concession stand beginning at 6pm, while the show was scheduled for 7:30pm that evening. Traffic delayed me, so I arrived closer to 6:30pm. There was a game going on at the playground the next block over, so there were a lot of cars parked on the street, but parking was still not an issue. Dinner came in a brown paper tote and came nicely packaged and of a good portion size, so I even had some leftover. They had a vegetarian alternative (Nag's Head Roasted Yam, Grilled Zucchini and Squash, Caramelized Onions on Wild Rice (V)), but I opted for the meat - Starter: Hush Puppies with Maple Butter Entree: Pulled Pork Platter with Coleslaw and Collard Greens Dessert: Chocolate Flourless Brownie (GF) Catered by Nosh restaurant and the Concord Market. I was pleased with my meal. Sure the collared greens were a bit plain, but I was just glad to get a decent portion of vegetables with my meat and they were not overcooked.
