I have had an incredible experience singing with the Jacksonville Children's Chorus; this chorus…read morehas helped me to grow not only as a musician, but also as a person. Singing in this chorus has inspired me to pursue music not simply as a casual hobby, but as a lifelong passion. During my years in the chorus I have learned more about music theory and breath control, sung in all parts of my vocal range, gained experience in sightreading and performing a wide variety of choral music, and have seen great improvements in the overall quality of my singing voice. Additionally, I have met some amazing people through the chorus, who come from schools all over Jacksonville to make music together. The children in the chorus are focused and committed, but they also know how to loosen up and have plenty of fun when they aren't rehearsing! Being in this chorus has inspired me to travel abroad more often; we have taken tours to places including Alaska, New York City, Canada, Italy, and Greece. I have had a number of once-in-a-lifetime experiences with the chorus as well, such as performing in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, accompanying the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, and doing concerts with well-known artists such as The Voca People and Amy Grant. Overall, my experience with the Jacksonville Children's Chorus has been an unforgettable one.

I love soccer & have supported the Armada sine they came to Jax…read more The former owner has abandoned the club, they lost their downtown home-field, fired Tony Meola as coach and sold off their better players - so if you're expecting anything like what you've come to enjoy over the past few seasons, you'll be very disappointed. The Baseball Grounds was not a perfect location for soccer, but the seating was comfortable, it was in the Stadium District, and with Intuition Aleworks & Manifest Distilling all within a block - going to a game was looking to be a great night out! Their new location is Hodges Stadium at UNF. An ok place to watch collegiate soccer - very nice even pitch. But being a little on the older side, I need a seatback if I'm going to be sitting in the stands for a couple hours! The seats are also not numbered. So even though I bought tickets with seat numbers, the seats were no where to be found and many in the crowd just sat where they wanted to. The dining options at the Town Center did lessen the pain somewhat. For some reason, whoever is running the team at this point, decided that the game needed cheerleaders (trust me - it may need something, but not cheerleaders). I'm not sure how much time was spent selecting the group, but they probably spent about the same time training them - quality was less than desirable. The team - I only recognized 2 names from the previous season. The team performed modestly at best. I'm sure the location will work out well for the many soccer families that live in proximity to UNF

Professional soccer is a great addition to Jax and this team is really focused on delivering what…read morethe fans want. My doubts of using a baseball field for a soccer pitch were addressed by a pretty nice set up, and after a full season I figured out the optimal seats. The nautical theme was executed well. Not too cheesy. I really want to play in the half-time battles. The affordability of this team and it's games is a real bonus and I am proud to support them as a season ticket member. Go Armada!

I'm not sure why this program doesn't get more coverage in the media because it is by far better than any of the children's programs in town. When I spoke to the director a few weeks ago, he told me they served over 2.5 million children since they started in 1979. They see close to 45,000 students every season. They do all this on a very small budget, with very little stuff. Support them with your attendance AND if you can, financially.

Established in 2007 at the corner of Duval Street and Bryan Street, the Hooligans have celebrated every Jags game with pre and post game tailgates. You will find several hundred fans participating in circle ups every 30 minutes and if you come at the right time, you'll even see Jaxson de Ville circling up with them. There is always plenty of food, beer, cornhole and Jags team spirit. Each tailgate is DJ'd with a great variety of music that gets you pumped for the game, although you're welcome to play your own music as well. Parking fills up quick but it only costs $20 and is less than a 1/4 mile walk to the stadium.
