Visiting from out of town, I had a great time at the Legion in Beach.
It's a plain place, with your typical, straight-line bar on one side and a larger, open space with fluorescent lighting on the other.
It has a good, small-town feel. Customers were respectful, but engaging as well, and it's always nice to be able to talk to strangers. Tap beer is cheap and they happened to have a good Oktoberfest on tap that night.
The night we went, they had a freewill offering of food for a donation. They didn't have enough staff that day, because of an unexpected departure or illness, and yet the owner still made the extra effort to make us food after they found out that we were vegetarian, and that there wasn't anything available (the buffet or their pizzas). They happened to make us some Monte Cristo sandwiches without the ham and they were very cheesy and delicious. (They didn't have to do that, especially being understaffed! Also "cheesy" as in "lots of yummy cheeses that would make any Cheesehead or dairy fan delighted forever".)
I could've spent a lot more time here, but we had to go onward and upward, as they say. It's a lot of fun and this is the place to be in Beach! read more
