Merica.....This mural is the work of Scott Lobaiso, a Staten Island artist who painted it in 2014. Fun fact, Lobaisco has painted an American Flag Mural in each of the 50 states, none of which are the same. This one is located on the side of the VFW post in Minneapolis, MN. The mural was painted to honor a local Marine who lost both legs in combat.
Lobabio paints all of his flags in a waving 3D effect and this one is no different. He believes that the American flag is the most beautiful, powerful, and recognized thing in the world. This one really pops and comes to life. It grabs your attention from the street. It is in really good shape, especially considering that it is over 12 years old. I like this mural and Lobaisco's mission. His passion and patriotism are admirable.
The flag is amazing and very detailed. Definitely worth a peek if you are in the area. Anyway, as with most murals that I have visited and reviewed in the past, this is probably not a very long stop. I was there for less than 5 minutes. So, you may want to consider adding stops at other attractions in the area, or making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip. read more
