This is…read morea City of Henderson Recreational Center tucked in the Green Valley community between the Pittman Wash Trail and Silver Springs Park. The amenities that it provides include outdoor swimming pools, tennis, events & activities, a dancing room, and more. It also provides the needs of my recreation, which is hiking. The Silver Springs Recreational Center grounds is connected to the Pittman Wash Trail. It is at my favorite location along the Trail where a picturesque landscape of mature trees provide a canopy of shade throughout the year. At this scenic spot, the Silver Springs Recreational Center grounds extend across Pittman Wash to the amphitheater and Pittman Wash Overlook. Here, hikers are able to ascend down a trail onto hiking trails that follow the meandering wash. Oftentimes on my Pittman Wash Trail, I have turned onto the short walking path between the swimming pools and tennis courts then crossed Silver Springs Parkway into Silver Springs Park across the street. In reality I have been here more than six times. Walking through Silver Springs Park, which I would count as a recreation center amenity has extended my time in the Henderson Great Outdoors. From my visits to the Silver Springs Recreational Center, I discovered that the restrooms are the cleanest restrooms along the Pittman Wash Trail. I am impressed by the high standards of cleanliness in the restroom and throughout the facility. If only Yelp Tips was still around I would of posted this. Recently, after hiking along the Pittman Wash, I found out that they have vending machines. This was very beneficial when I developed a deep thirst on the hike. The $3 bottle of Coke was a lifesaver. The reality is that there is a long distance from the beginning of the Pittman Wash Trail in Arroyo Grande Park to Pecos Road without proximity to cold beverages. Again, I will say "If only Yelp Tips was still around." Before voting on this review, let me bring up "voting." I have early voted here twice during the past two President Elections. My observation is that the Election aspect was managed well, where finding a parking spot could be a challenge. The parking lot here is relatively small to accommodate Election voting and events. I have seen it fill up to the point where people park across the street in the Silver Springs Park parking lot. On the aspect of voting, I will close off this review by casting a vote of Four Stars for the Silver Springs Recreational Center.

It's an easy spot to get in and out of for your best enjoyment. Parking is a breeze and for us locals it's free with your drivers license. Looking for something fun, new, exciting, and interesting this winter. Let's gather together and go ice skating . The fee rental is insane with a great value of $32 for skating and it includes your skate rental. You should book definitely online especially with the holiday season coming. We we able to get a "chance" booking for the family . If you want to rent a cabana for you and yours they offer those too. It's a great little getaway from the desert of Vegas with ice. Now that you have ice skated you are ready for something warm and special to drink. Off to the bar . They offer a menu for hot cocoa with all the best of joys. Then for those that need some hot chocolate add some Baileys for basic fun. They make some signature drinks that need to be tried too. The simple sodas are great too. Everyone is here we have more laps to do on the ice. We need to get back out and play. Come and meet us . Don't forget to stand by the fire pit if you get chilled. Chances are you have enough warmth to make a smile and sparkle. Let's shine.

It was uncomfortable for both players and spectators, and in those conditions, there is a real concern about heat-related illnesses. What made the experience even worse was the way the owner, Angela (long straight light blonde or white hair), treated us. I've never encountered a business owner who spoke to customers and children so disrespectfully. Our kids and our friends' kids were at the gym. They were being kids, and while I understand that children should follow the rules, I didn't appreciate the way Angela addressed them. She told them, "If you don't stop, you'll be out in the street." Later, when one of the kids accidentally turned off the lights, she yelled that if it happened again, there would never be kids allowed in the gym again. It wasn't the correction that bothered me--it was the tone and the way she spoke to them. Afterward, I went to the front desk to speak with a manager. I asked Angela if she was the manager, and she responded with an attitude, saying, "No, I'm the owner." She then told me I was banned from the gym, that I was never allowed back, and ordered me to leave. I was surprised by how quickly the situation escalated and felt it was handled in a very unprofessional manner. When I asked for her name, she refused to provide it, so I had to ask an employee, who confirmed that Angela was the owner. I believe this situation could have been handled much more respectfully. If there were concerns about the children's behavior, she could have calmly spoken with the parents instead of yelling at the kids and immediately banning customers. Professional communication goes a long way. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this gym. The lack of air conditioning was disappointing, but the owner's attitude and customer service were the biggest reasons I won't be returning.

They do have a snack bar because I saw it near the restrooms. Not sure, but people were carrying around nachos, popcorn, and sodas. I'm sure they were getting them there. I did notice there is an upstairs area that people were dancing and partying. I could see them through the windows that look out over the rink. From what we gathered is that there is an area upstairs to host parties. It looked like tonight they had a line dancing birthday party. :) The ring is setup on the left side of the roller rink and they had plenty of chairs setup on three sides of the ring. Props, ring, stage etc were setup by the organization and the chairs were the rinks supply. Take note that in the light chill of the Vegas winter and the heat of the Vegas summer...this huge rink is not climate controlled. They do have a HUGE warehouse ceiling fan and my friend said they use that during the summer sometimes.

The gym is very up to date and spacious. There is a separate fitness room where classes are held. The facility also has a full size basketball court and two racquetball courts. You can rent equipment for free from the front desk. On the other side of the facility is a large pool table room and several craft and meeting rooms. The facility does have a large pool, lap pool, and hot tubs. Lifeguards are on duty. You cannot bring alcohol in.

Goalie coaches are rare out here and Chris and his crew of coaches are dependable and communicate well in scheduling. The facility is great and well maintained too. We enjoy our weekly visits. My daughter is a 10u forward and has enjoyed player skills & shooting drills from both Coach John and Coach Zack. Their attention to detail and technique are so helpful in guiding her confidence in accuracy and power. She tends to be rather quiet and shy during lessons, and they both have found their own ways to encourage her and build her skill. I appreciate that though the classes are in a group setting, they speak to each kid quietly when correcting positioning, never bringing a bunch of attention to a student. They celebrate when the kids can follow through and you can see the kids light up! The hour long sessions are packed with useful drills and my daughter always gets off the ice feeling it and excited to try new things at her games.
