But after going to my usual Friday meeting today, I thought, "What the hell." First step to recovery is admitting that you have a problem right? I've had a personal battle with my weight ever since I can remember. It wasn't an issue when I was a kid, when I was pretty active through playing basketball, tennis, and swimming. And this continued through high school. Once I quit the sports, the extra pounds replaced them. Then there was WW to save more than just a day or a string of days, but my self esteem. The first time I joined WW, I managed to lose about 45 lbs in 2 years. It took a happy medium of eating right and exercise, and it was a slow and gradual process. At the peak of my fitness, I was running races, playing league basketball 3 times a week, lap swimming, lifting weights. I was at the top of my game. How long does it take to lose control of all this goodness? 6 months. It was a 6 month "vacation" that got me into the doors of WW again. So here I am. Granted, I have 15-20 lbs to lose this time around. But WW is there. It helps to know that I'm not alone in this journey and that there are people there to support me and cheer me on every step of the way. Weigh ins are always confidential. Every weight loss milestone reached is celebrated. And the team leader is always available to give personal advice or answer questions. What I love about WW plan is that you can eat whatever you want. They have a points system where every food has a points value based on their calorie, fat, and fiber content. So yes, you can have your In-an-out cheeseburger with fries and a shake, ONLY IF you have the points to spend. They focus on teaching healthy eating habits, how to deal with temptations, how to incorporate exercise in your daily life. Overall it's one of the best weight loss programs out there. BTW, an In-an-out cheeseburger with fries and a shake is worth 37 points. I'm allowed 20 points a day.

The only other person in the office was another veteran waiting to be seen. We both just sat there in silence for about 10 minutes before anyone even walked through the door. No greeting, no check in, nothing. The person who finally took me back, the "clinician," was extremely unprofessional and rude. Their attitude made it very clear they did not care about me, my time, or my situation. It felt rushed and dismissive from start to finish. The office itself was another red flag. It looked more like a Botox and cosmetic facial place than a medical office that should be doing VA evaluations. I did not see any medical credentials posted anywhere, which did nothing to build trust or confidence in the process. As a veteran, this felt disrespectful and wrong. I walked out feeling like the VA should seriously reconsider contracting with this place. I will be telling other veterans to avoid Obi Wellness and Health Services for evaluations.

I contacted the trainer to confirmed and was told he had a family emergency and was unable to keep the scheduled appointment, and he would later contact me once he returned. I was more so disappointment in him not informing me he would not be able to keep the appointment, there's a reminder in the mind body application and he failed to contact me upon his return. I have experienced several personal trainers since I relocated to CA not keeping appointments or not serious about the health and fitness industry.
