I played ZogSports volleyball for two seasons and thought the games were generally well organized…read more I enjoyed having a weekly game to look forward to, and it was a good amount of exercise and socializing. My team even got friendly enough to hit up a bar on occasion after a game and most of my original team even came to my birthday party. In the second season that I played, the organizers were starting to have some issues with facilities and also one game during which the referee didn't show. However they were otherwise quite professional. The locations tend to have convenient parking and the hours for games are reasonable. I was hoping to switch to their newly formed Sunday leagues but the most recent season of that got cancelled due to low enrollment. At this point I am looking into switching to a different sport or a local league by a different organization, but I'm glad I got my start here!

This review is purely for Zog's volleyball league. This league is extremely beginner-level. Lots of…read morework teams and new players. Occasionally you will have a couple of people who come into this league knowing how to play volleyball but are there anyways for an ego boost. If you are new to volleyball, read here. Yes, this league may be a good starting point as it's very beginner-level play, it's good for work teams and meeting new people. But you won't want to be here for long. There are the occasional try-hards that will come into the league to feel good about themselves by hitting hard and running plays on a net that's lower than women's height. Another downside is that some of these players think they can play but in fact they are very dangerous and make it very unsafe. Landing under the net and causing ankle sprains when you block is very common here. So play smart, watch out for others. If you have some volleyball experience and understand the game, read here. This league is very poorly run. You have one ref that does not understand the rules of volleyball. No calls are made, clear doubles where the ball is spiraling, crazy players who jump and land under the net, and players touching the net and lifts. You call your own lines, so in and out calls are all on you and the other team. The ref literally is there to just blow the whistle for serve and then flip the score. They dont even have anyone setting up the nets for you as well, so you need to set it up yourself. The net is literally lower than womens height. So if you're here playing with some new friends who are learning to play, have some integrity to play to the level of others and be safe. I played in this league before it became Zog (Dynamic sports) id say it has changed but not for the better. Same stuff as it was 5-6 years ago. If you are looking for some better play there are other leagues out there. Campbell Community center used to have a good one they may or may not still be running. Then there's IVL if you're looking for competitive play. Zog by far is the most expensive league and the total amount of games you play in the season is less than all these other leagues I mentioned. So if you're factoring bang for your buck. Zog is definitely not that.

Well organized and run by volunteers who really love the game of baseball and more importantly love teaching kids to love baseball. This league has everything from complete beginners to elite competition. They will start you with the basics at age 6, a just for fun league where your kids can learn the basics in a non-competitive league, and finish you off, years down the road, in a league that could take you to the Little League World series. The coaches are all volunteer, they love coaching and helping kids learn to love the sport, and parents are encouraged to take part in "coaching" in the lower leagues. The fees are cheap ($125 for the season which includes uniform), the fields are awesome with the bulk of the games being played somewhere on the Presidio (amazing views), and your kids learn teamwork, sports skills, and get exercise. Everybody wins!

SFLL is nothing short of amazing especially when you consider it's an all-volunteer organization…read more They manage to set up dozens of teams for boys and girls of all abilities from ages 6-14, provide subsidies for low-income kids, and field games for every team throughout San Francisco every dry weekend and for weekday practices during their spring and fall leagues, despite a limited number of fields and short staffing and less-than-ideal field maintenance by Rec & Parks. The price for what you get is an incredible bargain. Special events include the spring opening day parade through the Marina where each team has its own "float," followed by an all-League picnic on Marina Green, and a special Little League Day with the Giants at AT&T Park. Umpires do their best to be fair, and I have yet to run into a parent who was not positive and encouraging toward every kid on both teams. Not every coach is going to be the most awesome your kid has ever experienced, but you have to respect and feel grateful to these people for being so giving of their time, energy and organizational skills.

My disclaimer to people would be that this league is more recreational than competitive. There are some very fit people out there to enjoy themselves but if you want to be intense this probably isn't the league for you. The organization is good and the founder Leslie Harris is really nice. I'd recommend this for anyone in the city looking to play a sport and meet people.

Sports4Good is a great organization - Leslie is super duper. And I just really love basketball. Have I mentioned that? Let me say it again - I love basketball. And with that - I have to go. Amazing staff--very kind and helpful, they're personable and help me when I need a specific court or want to book something or need my rackets restrung. They know my name and are very thoughtful--always with a smile. Shoutout to club manager Jake Stafford and tennis racket stringer Gary Bender. I love them and the front desk staff and cleaning crew--everyone is very friendly, helpful, understanding, and accommodating. Multiple times, I have booked courts and had to cancel (or mixed up my court times) and they've helped remedy the situation. Facilities are very nice--I love the pool, hot tub, locker rooms, and courts. The lights are good for night playing and there's some nice seating by the pickleball courts. The views are so good--I love seeing high rises and the Bay and Salesforce Tower looming behind over the club. I love the app for booking courts (and also book classes at Bay Club SF which is further down along the Embarcadero.) Gateway also has a few classes (like a weekly yoga on the grass.) Location is very convenient near downtown and the financial district. It's served by multiple Muni lines and BART and Muni Metro, and there's street parking and a small lot too! My one nit--I miss when there was more workout equipment and more socials and classes! I wish more people went to drop-in pickleball.
