My son is pretty shy and quiet, but she was somehow able to bring out his personality during the session, and it really shows in the photos. They turned out absolutely amazing, and honestly, it was so hard to narrow them down because there were so many great shots. I've had the pleasure to work with heather twice now. Once in 2015 for a winter sibling photoshoot and most recently in 2021 she was our wedding photographer at Gloryview Farm, and her work was exceptional both times. She spent a lot of time before the wedding talking to us about what photos were most important to capture, and laying out a timeline of events in the wedding to be sure things went smoothly and no important moments were missed. She also took the location of the wedding and options of where best to shoot the photos into account, and maximized our time by knowing the area and having some ideas in mind before arrival. Our wedding package also included a second photographer who was absolutely amazing as well, which helped to capture multiple angles of the ceremony, and guest reactions as well as our vows. She made some gorgeous custom cards with information for our guests to view our photos and schedules for the guests to keep. You can tell how much love and passion goes into her work in how much she does that is above and beyond for her clients. She even communicated with our event coordinator and the venue owner to arrange time at the venue to do posed photos before the ceremony. She also has excellent artistic vision in shoots, coming up with poses and how to utilize the space, dress, props etc, and her ability to direct even the most shy/awkward subjects always impresses me. She was a joy to work with, before, during, and after both photoshoots. From my personal experience, for the work and time she puts in, and the number of quality photos she produces her rates are more than fair. She was timely with finishing edits as well, well within the time frame she has provided us. Heather is fabulous! I was not looking forward to having my headshot picture taken as I am not overly comfortable posing for pictures. However, with Heather's professionalism and ability to put anyone at ease, it made the process a lot of fun and the pictures turned out phenomenal! Her studio is warm and inviting, I felt right at home. It was an efficient process from beginning to end, and I even received an e-mail and a text with a private link to my pictures. We were visiting Wasilla for just a few days when (for business reasons) we unexpectedly and urgently needed a professional portrait. On very short notice Heather setup a photoshoot for us exactly to our specifications and after a quick session we left with the precisely perfect shot we needed, complete with a light touch of Photoshopping (to smooth out skin-tone, and a stray hair or two) and she provided the image in the formats we needed. It was generous of her to accommodate our last minute request and thanks to the music and lighting and feeling in her studio, not to mention her warmth and absolute competence we had a great experience. We are not from Alaska and won't be staying long so it's unlikely we'll return, but if we ever have a chance to recommend a photographer for any important events or portraits to anyone in or near Wasilla we would recommend Ambience without hesitation. read more
