Thank you for our baby girl!!…read more Dr. Chang was amazing. She is extremely intelligent and talented in her field. We appreciated her honesty from the beginning letting us know all the potential outcomes based upon my health history given to her. She is very factual and to the point, we loved this about her. The office and staff are small, the girls at the front desk were young...it gave more of a family business vibe (although I do not believe they are family) but we didn't mind this at all. The few low reviews seem to be based upon the FD staff....we never had any issues. They were prompt and very friendly. I have primary amenorrhea, I was told I may not be able to have my own children as my PCP was unable to locate my ovarian follicles. Dr. Chang was able to locate them! were just very small. She gave me meds to grow them and more meds to stimulate ovulation. We were then given the go ahead to have timed intercourse. We got very lucky and became pregnant after the first round of treatment. I've been waiting to leave this review for 9 months now. We are so thankful for our healthy baby girl. I would highly recommend using Dr. Chang! We look forward to seeing her when we're ready for our second. Thank you!

Dr. Chang is incredibly kind, knowledgeable and truly wants to help you succeed. She is genuinely a good human being and an excellent doctor. She took time to understand our situation, stayed with us through several ups and downs of the journey, and when it was time for us to finally be able to have another cycle, she helped us succeed in the very first attempt with her. She was so meticulous and thoughtful about putting her best foot forward with the protocol she put me on. She works with her patients, listens to them and never ever dismisses them or their concerns. It was an absolute pleasure working with her. I can't recommend her enough!

There aren't enough words to describe what an amazing person Dr. Renee is. I feel like I could tell her anything (and I usually do, lol). She's extremely knowledgeable about body structure and systems, and her approach to acupuncture is unique and very cool! She explains her thought process and approach to care, particularly from a Chinese medicine perspective, in such a way that I truly feel like we're partners in my health and wellness journey. I've learned so much about how my body works, and each visit is followed up with customized recommendations (example: foods that are particularly nourishing in areas I might be deficient, based on her observations of my pulse, etc.) The office at Blossom Clinic is small but cozy and inviting, with soft lighting, air filters, aromatherapy, etc. They use high-quality products (for example, I had cupping done today with organic Jojoba oil). They're located next to Whole Foods (on the left, and up the stairs, kind of hard to find--for me anyway), but very convenient for picking up some groceries before or after my visits. They do not accept insurance but do provide detailed bills that I can submit for reimbursement from my health plan. I have not met with any of the other practitioners, so I can't comment on them. Overall, an extremely pleasant and personalized experience that I highly recommend! Their practice seems to be mostly focused on fertility-related care, but they are also here for women at all stages of life.

It was WILD, beautiful and amazing.

Dr.Hesla is calm and professional, he did not judge about my age nor my poor reservation (I was almost 38 when I started my IVF trial and failed twice previously with another local hospital). If you are an older female 35+, don't come here. The doctors don't seem to know what they are doing. My wife and I worked with Dr. Bankowski and saw him maybe 3 times out of the year. And our treatment coordinator, Illeana was not thorough nor responsive to text. 4 egg retrievals (1 cancelled), 2 transfers. Got two euploids - both failed. Down about $50k with nothing to show for it. It's true that this is an IVF mill. Maybe they were good when they first started, but now it's just a money factory. The egg retrievals and transfers are done by whoever is scheduled to work, not the doc you are assigned to. Egg retrieval stim med protocols pretty much never change even if your wife isn't responding well to it. And even if they decide to cancel the egg retrieval, they will charge you 20%! So not only do you lose $4-5k in IVF stim meds, they'll also take $3k for doing nothing too! And the billing department... it is as bad as everyone says in the reviews. They will have random charges. If you put money down for a procedure, but health insurance hasn't yet paid a bill from previous cycles - they will just deduct it from the deposit. You'll walk in and they'll ask for another $15k. The financial coordinator supervisor basically said they can do whatever they want because they are a specialty clinic. They're funny because I worked for Aspen Dental. Aspen dental basically was sued for these types of practices. ORMs turn likely will be coming soon.

They have improper billing practices. - sent NO INVOICE before charging two $115 transaction on our credit card. - only notified us one day before, still with NO INVOICE. Just an email saying they'll do it. - refused to work with my insurance even though i'm fully cover and was covered under other appointments I had with them. Stating they called them to figure it out but with no valid proof but word of mouth. It was really strange they didn't let me know ahead of time. The service date was in March and it's AUG they just let me know and charged my card that my insurance wasn't working for only this date of service. I could have just called my insurance myself to get it figured out but i didn't get a chance to do that. STILL no invoice. My insurance clearly stated I only owned $20 on my EOB (Explanation of Benefits) and when they got reprocessed then my EBO said I own nothing. Yet even thought I already paid my copay and my EOB confirmed that copay... I got charge $230 ($115 twice) with, like I said, NO INVOICE. Want to emphasize that. They stated they resubmitted my claims but only sent me screenshots without my name attached so i'm not sure if those were for my claims. They also sent me documentation of for claim forms but the date was literally the date I ask for the forms... which was also strange. Asked for a copy of the forms with the correct dates but was not given them. My insurance company called them and asked for the proof of their resubmission to make sure they were on time to confirm its my insurance was at fault but they have not wanted to try and help by just sending them. It's a pretty simple task. Even I reach out to try and have them just share the proof to the insurance but for some reason they won't and they won't reassured me or confirmed that they have or are willing to do so. Just because insurance(s) have protocols even if it's their fault doesn't mean you should just throw it onto the patient without letting them know. Let's say they are right and that the insurance didnt process correctly. Then their contract with my insurance would still cover it still if they just sent proof and they can just reprocess it as normal. It shouldn't be out of my pocket. I'm still working with them together get this figured out. If not, i'll probably be filing a complaint with the Oregon Medical Board. I think this practice is fine in terms of actually medicine but they need serious help and understand of what is right for billing, balance billing, insurance, patient reach out etc.

A couple negatives of OHSU though is that they make you get a bunch of unnecessary blood tests done that other fertility clinics do not require. They make you pay for a consult appointment every year you are their patient. They lied and told me it would be covered by my insurance, then it wasn't, so I had to pay. The consult was a pointless waste of money, in which they just ask me where I am in my fertility journey and what my plans are now. They also make me do a pap smear (which no other local fertility clinic requires) and a(n expensive) psychological evaluation (basically asking you about your plans on open/closed donor and how/when you intend to tell your child about their other parent--why do I need to spend hundreds just to be asked these questions which are none of your business?). The doctor assigned to me (Amato) was impersonal, barely remembered anything about me, and never offered any sympathetic words or encouragement during the struggle to conceive. Tips on successful conception/implantation? Right foods to eat? Right things to avoid? What could be causing the infertility? The doctor knows less than a Google search. I felt like I knew more than she did, and that wasn't helpful. Also, when OHSU washes the ICI donor sperm for an IUI procedure, they kill about 23 million (92%) of them. So try to use IUI vials which come already washed by the sperm bank. If you are looking for a physician who will listen to you, advocate for you, and take your pain seriously, I strongly recommend Dr. Pendergrass. I felt respected and heard throughout all my interactions with her. I had been living with bad period pain and was diagnosed with fibroids by a different doctor who referred me to her, but I figured that excruciating monthly pain was just the price of having a uterus and I should just live with it. During our first consultation Dr. Pendergrass encouraged me to not downplay the pain I was in and gave me facts and information that helped me decide to go forward with the hysterectomy, which was an option I hadn't even considered before talking to her. When I had concerns up until the morning of surgery, she took the time to discuss and answer my questions fully. The surgery went extremely smoothly, and the post-op pain at its worst was less than half of what I had previously experienced every month. Dr. Pendergrass responded very quickly to all of my questions through the patient app both before and after surgery. She is honest, funny, she listened to me, and and she introduced me to treatment options I didn't know were available to me. My life is so much better and wish I would have seen her years ago!

I went through a lot of hoops for the first couple months, medical clearances, meetings, (no biggie) and then the psych evaluation. It's a bit vulnerable to tell someone your life story and then take a personality quiz afterwards. The psych evaluation doctor, Mark Dillon, told me I was "too positive" in the first quiz and so I had to take another, so I listened to that feedback and did another in hopes that I pass it, obviously answering honestly still. I was then called a around 5 days later by Ebee, the person who has been leading me on the journey, and she told me I had "too many inconsistencies" between what we talked about vs. the quizzes, basically deeming me not emotionally fit. There was no higher up person I could talk to about this and of course they have to follow the protocol (set by some higher up standards, yes I understand). It just really sucks going through the process and being told "we don't think it has anything to do with you as a person." But obviously it does if you have to deny the person on that. I hope they eventually adapt the process to actually appropriately evaluate someone in the future. I was really ready to do this and obviously knew I could, I hope the process is better for women that ARE psychologically fit and excited to do this in the future. They must only select around 5% (based on what someone else mentioned) of people who actually apply because of this flawed process. I don't think that's something to be proud about, I think they are missing out on some amazing women that could be helping. I'll be looking for other places to be a surrogate now. ALSO BEWARE: they had me sign up for a secondary insurance to make sure everything would be covered, with the intention that they would be paying me for it as long as I needed while being a surrogate. THANK GOODNESS I was denied surrogacy within the 10 day free trial period still, and thank goodness I remembered to ask them if they would be canceling this on their end (they don't), I was able to get it canceled through the insurance company. Otherwise I would have been liable for paying $650+ a month for insurance I didn't even need. Just a note for newbies that don't think about this stuff! This took it down from 2 stars to one star for me.

NWSC cost us 14 months of our lives. They misrepresented material facts, withheld key costs, and…read morethen abruptly cut and ran when we refused to blindly hand over tens of thousands of dollars. We signed a contract with Northwest Surrogacy Center (NWSC) in February 2022. We paid in full and were told to expect a match in a reasonable timeframe. 14 months later, we had received exactly one profile--a surrogate based in California, despite being told at the outset that we would likely not be matched in California due to high base compensation and reduced availability. The real problems began once the profile was sent. On a call with NWSC's case manager, Amber DeDionisio, she explicitly admitted that the surrogate had not been fully screened. NWSC did not know whether she planned to relocate mid-journey (which would compromise insurance eligibility) and had not confirmed whether her partner's employer-provided insurance--on which she was relying--would remain active throughout the pregnancy. NWSC knowingly advanced a match with a surrogate whose suitability had not been vetted according to their own stated processes. Then came the ambush. NWSC informed us that we would be required to place $22,500 into escrow to cover a potential insurance lien--a lien they had never mentioned at any point in the prior 14 months. It was never documented in onboarding materials, never disclosed in our contract, and never discussed during calls. We were told this was "non-negotiable," despite the fact that the lien had not yet been triggered, the insurance terms were still unclear, and the funds would be locked up for years. We pushed back and offered two reasonable alternatives: * Work with the surrogate to proactively switch to an ACA plan, or * Use binding contract language to assign us full liability for any lien-related costs--without locking up the funds unnecessarily. NWSC flatly refused. There was no negotiation, no willingness to explore alternatives, and no flexibility. Instead, Sam Chally (the Director of Client Development--and son of the founders) abruptly terminated our relationship via email. After 14 months of waiting, we were discarded because we asked for transparency. What happened next is telling: NWSC refunded us in full immediately. No argument, no back-and-forth, no defense of their behavior. Just a quick, full reversal. In our view, this was an implicit admission that they knew they had mishandled the situation--and possibly opened themselves up to legal exposure. Since posting our experience, we've heard from other intended parents who report similar treatment: contracts pulled without warning, no clear rationale, and no accountability. This isn't a one-off mistake--it's a pattern of unprofessional conduct. We've since completed a successful surrogacy journey with a different agency. That agency provided clear upfront costs, used an independent third-party escrow service (not an internal one), and helped us secure a California surrogate with ACA policy which had no lien language whatsoever via ART Risk Solutions. So much for NWSC's claim that their escrow demands were standard or unavoidable--they weren't. Here's what you should know before giving NWSC a dollar: * They control their own escrow. This is a massive conflict of interest. Every surrogacy lawyer and industry veteran we've spoken with flagged this as an immediate red flag. Most legitimate agencies use licensed, independent escrow providers. NWSC does not. * They withhold critical cost information. Their published fee schedule is incomplete. The $22,500 lien escrow was never disclosed until it was too late. * They violate their own protocols. The surrogate we were matched with had not been fully screened. This was admitted on a phone call by NWSC's own staff. Matching intended parents with an unscreened surrogate is reckless. * They retaliate when challenged. When we declined to send them tens of thousands of dollars under murky terms, they terminated us. No negotiation, no resolution--just a refund and a door slammed shut. * They are a family-run business with zero external accountability. Sam Chally, who canceled us, is part of the founding family. This agency operates as a closed loop: no independent oversight, no professional checks, no willingness to take responsibility. NWSC is not a partner. They are not transparent. And in our experience, they are not acting in good faith. They cost us over a year of time, trust, and hope--things we can't get back. If you're an intended parent considering NWSC, please learn from our experience. This process is too important--and too expensive--to gamble on the wrong agency. There are better, more ethical, and more professional options out there. Avoid NWSC. Completely. As for Carla's response: Notice that she offers no factual rebuttal to any of the specific issues raised. We encourage you to compare her reply to the facts we're outlined.
