I've always used Amber cars and found the efficient and the prices reasonable. however today was the first time I was faced with the automated system which I found very difficult to negotiate. Please bring back the human controller before you lose my customer. read more

Very disappointing that after being a loyal customer for years, this morning's pick up from Heathrow was very fraught. I have to say that driver took great pains to be kind because of the service I had from the operator. I made this booking on the 14th April and have the text to prove that I stated a pick up at 0800. the operator told me I had booked for 0705 and that my flight was later - it was, by 5 minutes. En route, the car was pulled of my job and suddenly I was tracking a different driver who was then even later. I used this car service from the Watford hospital today. If I had checked their reviews before I would never have gone with this unprofessional driver. The driver who came to pick me up was watching videos while he was driving. I said to him I'm not happy with what you are doing. Then he stopped watching and start to listen to loud music from his language. Is this the type of service they offer???? Also he said I drove you home with Allah's blessing. He named great prophets for wrong things. He need to be more educated about his job. When I said that I'm going to complain to your company, he said do whatever you want.Does that mean that their company is not taking complaints seriously??? So sad about the owner who worked hard to build a company like this and these ignorant people are ruining his business. Complete rip off and VERY rude!!!!! I got a taxi from Watford hospital last night with this company to my home in Hemel Hempstead. We phoned up and asked for a quote and they told us £25. Unfortunately we only had £20 so we made a deal with the operator that we would give the driver the £20 and we would pay the extra £5 on card in the morning (as that is when the money cleared in our account) The operator was fine with this and even took our numbers to call back and confirm with us when the taxi arrived. We gave the driver our £20 as soon as we got in the car and even confirmed with him that we would pay the extra in the morning. He said yes that's what he had been told. There was no mention by either driver or operator that we would have to pay more than £5 in the morning. So you can imagine our surprise when we called up this morning to pay the £5 that she was told we would in fact have to pay £11. £6 extra to what we were told and had confirmed several times. We were expecting a 10% surcharge as most taxi companies have this when you pay by card. But we didn't expect it to double! We explained to the operator that we were told by the operator last night that we would only have to pay £5. She then said that their minimum on card is £10 plus a 10% surcharge (had we been told this last night we wouldn't have bothered and just got a local Hemel taxi to pick us up as they were charging around £31 and were fine with us paying the rest on the card. We went with Amber Cars because we believed they were the cheaper option. Boy were we wrong!) We said we were not happy about pay the extra £6 and that we could have just left it and not paid (showing that we are trust worthy etc) to which the operator bluntly replied 'we would have called the police on you. Next time you book a taxi make sure you have the right amount of money' to which we replied that it was an emergency of having to take our baby to the hospital and that we only had £20 between us and the operator last night did not mention anything about minimum payments or surcharges. If we had known we would have only given the driver £15 and paid the extra £10 this morning plus the surcharge. To which she said 'don't book a taxi if you don't have the money' and put the phone down. She didn't even listen to our reasoning behind what had happened and that we were following the agreement and advice of their nighttime operator. It is not really the money that has annoyed about this company. It is the sheer rudeness and lack of communication between them and customers. The fact we had confirmed the amount we would have to pay and were then met with an extra £6 and the rude attitude of one of their employees. I wouldn't recommend this company. When I phoned for a cab, the guy on the phone was rude and lacked manners. The people who take the calls need to learn customer service skills and manners. Cab driver was lovely though and arrived quickly. His card machine didn't work though so had to borrow cash when I got to my destination. I might use this company again but they won't be my first choice. read more

I made a mistake to choose them for local pick up and driver was more than 25 min late. After couple of enquiries to the office which gave wrong information all the time and was not aware of why cab is delayed. When I persistently asked for reason of delay, he immediately asked me if I would like to cancel the cab. I instantly cancelled the cab because it was a nasty experience dealing with this mini cab company who have no sense of customer service. Called different cab company and they sent the cab within 5 min. Never ever with this rude, nasty company again. read more
