Heinevetter brings something different.
You can sit here…read moreand actually be able to reflect on where you are, take a breath in a environment without music (nothing wrong with that)and too much noise, except the trams rolling by outside. You can have your excellent 'Filterkaffee' and homemade apple cake, see the locals buy their bread and in a way feel transported to a more simple and (maybe) easygoing time. Heinevetter's kind of GDR-chick ambience gets to you after a while. Just take it in, this hardly exists any more.
Not very much happens in late summer-afternoons when the sun mercilessly beats the asphalt on Petersburger Straße but you can just sit here in the shadow sipping a soda, have another coffee and just watch the street and people coming and going enjoying the place 'as it is'.
Boring to some, but for souls who like it quite and soulful at the same time this is heaven in a big busy town like Berlin.
Heinevetter's very 'nothingness' is one of the main reason I always come back here when in town.
To just sit down, have your tea or coffee, change a few words with the helpful and service minded staff and just give yourself a break - for real!
Come before noon to ensure you can get your hands on the homemade cookies!
