When they say sea front room... they're not lying! The Ambassador is right on the Promenade and if the tide is in, there really is not much between you and the sea! I use this hotel to book our group. They are have been very accommodating and the location is fantastic!
Depending on the room you get can really form your opinion. Some of the rooms are a bit small and of course if you don't get a sea front room, it could be a bit of a let down. I had a junior suite room and it was really quite nice. Huge bay window with a couch and t.v. there. Twin beds, coffee and tea making facilities (they provide very nice biscuits, but only for the first night), nice soaps and shampoos (some bath salts as well), and this one had a whirlpool bathtub. It wasn't quite what I thought it would be, however I decided I would try it out... besides the fact it was so loud, it did the trick and it was a lovely bath.
Breakfast service is a bit on the slow side, which isn't a big deal if you have the time, but if you are on a schedule like we are and they insist on the group eating all at the same time... it is a bit problematic. They are a bit inconsistent about the coach driver having his breakfast slightly earlier than the group because he has to go and get the coach and make sure it is ready... sometimes it is no problem, but sometimes they are a bit rude about it.
However, the desk staff are always very friendly and helpful and the bar area is nice, plenty of seating. I do think the hotel could use a bit of a refurbishment, if they can manage that, I think they would be ready for a fifth star! read more
