Overall I had a positive experience with AMB. I took package 2. The in-class lessons were good - our instructor Ejaz was great. Patient with questions, funny, and overall really looking to help students learn. However, the slides/training material/quizes had lots of typos and mistakes, which distracted quite a bit from the course contents, but overall I did feel like I learned what I needed to. Additionally the way to pay was quite confusing - you pay the first $50 by credit card up-front, but the rest of the course you have to by by e-transfer after the in class portion. Felt a little shady/disorganized, but in the end worked out fine. These are the only reasons I didn't give 5 stars. My in car instructor was Amir, and he was fantastic. Friendly, encouraging, and had a great method of teaching where I felt really confident in all the skills by the end. Rather than focusing each class on a specific skill and repeating them over and over, we practiced all the skills every class, which worked really well for me. That way by the end I hadn't forgotten all the skills from the start. Also he picked me up right downtown and we practiced all over the downtown core. I really apprciated practicing in the busy downtown, as now I feel like I can drive anywhere. I called them again and they gave me 1457 mc cowen rd. When i go there September /28/2026 round 1:30pm nobody in the office . I had a very disappointing experience with AMB Driving School. We booked a G2 exit package that included lessons and a road test, and we clearly provided the test center location (37 Carl Hall Rd) from the beginning. At no point during booking or payment were we informed about any distance limit or additional travel charges. Just 2 days before the test, we were suddenly told that we had to pay extra because the location is "too far," referring to a 22 km limit that is nowhere clearly stated on their website or booking page. This lack of transparency and last-minute surprise fee is extremely unprofessional and stressful, especially when customers rely on these services for important tests. We even offered to meet the instructor closer to reduce the distance, but they refused to accommodate. Overall, very poor communication and hidden costs. I would not recommend this school unless they improve their transparency and customer service. read more

My son has been trying to get his in car driving lessons for the past month now and the instructors either cancel on him or they do not answer his texts to schedule a time to book in class driving class. I booked a 3-hour in car instruction course to prepare me for my G level road test. The instructor, Malik Nasser, was tough but fair and he helped me pass on my first attempt. He really taught me a lot and I doubt I would have passed without the course. There was some confusion with the drive test location so that's why I am giving 4/5 stars but overall it was an awesome experience. read more

First I would like to say my in-class instructor was very nice. But this school is very behind and was not what I was expecting for $700. If you're thinking of taking this class and don't have a G1 license, I do not recommend it. I did inform the front desk and the instructor that I had no license also asked if this course was a good idea seeing how I had not even a G1. They said it was the best way to do things and not waste time on the drivers learner book. The In class lessons mainly teach you about insurance and impaired driving, With very little lessons about actually how to drive, road rules and signs. The little handbook that they give is filled with tests without the questions As the instructor puts the questions on tv screen. So if you get something wrong or even right, you can't go home to study. Also you get the answer given to you before you have the chance to complete the test yourself, so testing your knowledge is not likely. For $700 a course, we should be able to get some type of print out with information on it to take home and study or something. It's also very hard to concentrate as their are sooo many fruit flies and the smell of Garbage is overwhelming. The bathroom has adult dirty diapers in the garbage can that doesn't get cleaned out everyday. In-car lessons... well I was assigned a driver named Rashidi, who was supposed to be very good (idk since I never did actually drive with him) but our in-class instructor told us he would be coming to talk with us in class one day. When he came, he walked in like some rich snob and didn't say anything other than "do we have any questions" he waited about 4 seconds before he walked out of the class room telling the in-class instructor that he didn't teach us good otherwise we would have questions. Then, he was assigned to me and when I text him introduced myself, he asked for my student number and availability in which I gave him and he never replied. I waited a few days and text again and still no reply, text a third time the next day then complained as he was not replying. The school took my complaint seriously and assigned me a new driver ASAP. His name is Debashis. He was excellent in every way. At least I thought. He was Very fast with responses at first and very informative. He came to pick me up but found out I did not have my G1 so we called the school where the person in the phone was very rude and said I should have known I needed a G1 to drive. I said well My in class instructor and the person at the front desk who took my money knew Not only myself but half the class did not have a G1 but still said I would be able to take my in car lessons the minute I finish my in class hours. So my new in car instructor decided to drive me around for about an hour to show me how to use a car since I've never driven a car before. And that time did not come out of my 10 hours of in car driving. He done this with his own free time. I learned more from Debashis (my second in car instructor) than I did from the whole course. So I got my G1 lIcence and arranged to start my in car lesson. We scheduled 2 days at the time. Went for my fist day for 2 hours. The instructor seemed a little disorganized as sometimes telling me right when he meant left, kept reading messages on his phone and even when he was driving the car after my lesson, a lot of other cars kept honking their horn at him. So my second lesson, he continued to change the time the same day of the lesson, came late after the last agreed time and cute my time short from 2 hours to 1 because he didn't want to make his next student wait. iMessage to him the next day with my availability for the next week and all he said was he would Look at his schedule to fit me in. Had a 4 week session class and an in person instructor. The class was nice overall but could definitely be improved. However, my driving instructor, Rashidi, was amazing. He is very patient, encouraging, and knowledgeable and gives great tips in how to improve and pass the G2 test. Terrible instructor alert!!! I was driving behind an AMB instructor vehicle when I noticed the driver was on the phone/eating and swerving onto the wrong side of the road. I caught up with him and told him to get off his phone and to focus on driving. Instructor started to swear at me as he continued to eat his food. Watch out for green corolla everyone. If I could give AMB driving a negative star on this website, I WOULD. The instructor I worked with made offensive comments about they way I learned. Upon demanding a refund for my sessions, I was instructed to email and send my complaints to a domain that doesn't exist. They are not a business with integrity, and I would not trust my life behind the wheel with this company, or would I advise parents to trust the lives of their children in a vehicle to be taught by AMB driving school. I want to file a complaint against Naseer Ahmed Malik from AMB Driving school. I never saw this guy before, because i was assigned with another instructor from AMB driving school as well, but he suddenly disappeared, so Naseer taught me for an hour and a half before the driving test. He was very rude, even tho he was like "you won't pass the exam and you can't do it". He was putting me down even tho i was so good. He was even teaching me the parallel parking wrong and was like "your first instructor taught you wrong", and he thinks he's better then all the instructors even tho he's the worst. He told me to change the lane, i said it's not safe because there is another car very close in next lane, he suddenly got mad at me and yelled at me to change the lane!! He also asked me to stop in the mosque to use the washroom; i was waiting for him for 15 minutes!!!! I did the exam and i passed for the first time and when i told him he was like "no i can't believe, you are lucky because you are beautiful that's why you passed"!!! I know myself very well and i know that i work so hard to pass the test! I don't want him to do the same thing for other students. He even made me cry. This is the the worst experience in my life, and he is the worst instructor in the world. There's also another thing; he didn't even drop me off at my house, he said "there is another student waiting for me" And left me in the drive test centre. read more

Biggest waste of money ever. I did the online classes and the website was VERY low quality. I didn't find the classes informative at all. A lot of videos from just general youtube were used that I could've watched for free. The lesson didn't allow you to fast forward or rewind. The website would sometimes glitch or time out and cause me to lose my spot in the lesson. And honestly, the material was lacking. In car classes! My instructor's car was NASTY. He had pistachio shells laying around the car (thank god I'm not allergic to nuts), spent most of the lessons on his phone texting, was unclear of what he wanted me to do, didn't actually INSTRUCT me on anything (he used a book with diagrams for front, back, and parallel and that was about all the teaching he did), and he was incredibly unprofessional (always late, stopped us by Tim Hortons to get coffee, and never actually helped me when I needed it unless I asked multiple times.) I strongly recommend against using AMB. No one I know has had good experiences with them. Stay safe out there! read more

My instructor was shah moeen. On my last lesson we ended at 12:52 instead of 12:45 and he tried to tell me that I had gone a half hour over and that I needed to pay him $20 for overtime. When I told him it wasn't even 15 minutes past he said I could pay him $15 and that if I didn't he would fail me and refuse to give me my MTO certificate. I refused and walked away, called the school and spoke with zohaib to let them know what happened. Zohaib assured me there would be no problems. Hopefully they keep thier word. read more

ZERO STARS! Absolutely horrendous driving school. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I paid $350 for two in-car lessons and G2 Exit Road Test. I was switched instructors and no one communicated with me the week I was to begin the lessons. The instructor I was given wasted 1.5 hours driving in traffic even though I specifically asked for highway driving, did not know my name nor remembered when our lessons were scheduled. They also text their students in the middle of the night. The day of the road test, I was informed 2 hours before my final scheduled lesson and road test that my instructors car broke down and they were attempting to find a replacement, causing me to be extremely stressed before my test, not to mention cutting into the lessons I paid for. The company offers no refund policy even though I had asked prior to starting my lessons due to their poor communication and total disorganization. We took a package with Package # 2: Certification course which includes 11 Hours Of In-Car Training, 20 Hours Of In-Class sessions, Certification With Ministry of Transportation and use of an Instructor car for local* G2 Road Test for my son. The driving lessons were outsourced to some third-party instructor. The instructor would take classes for 1 and half hour and then get my son to sign up for two-hour sessions. He would also stop around for his personal grocery shopping or picking up food and different places. We had to call the AMB office to complain. It was an absolute waste of money and time for my son Would never recommend AMB Markham Driving school for another student. read more

Inappropriate instructors who make unprofessional jokes to female students. one of them took me to gas station because he needed to use the washroom and refill gas. Could he not have done it before instead of wasting my time? I bought a package of 10 hours and I tried two instructors. the first one showed up half an hour late every time so I fired him. After 5 lessons he was just sitting there quietly and trying to book me in for more sessions right away, instead of being helpful and paying attention to my driving he was distracting me so I can spend more money booking my next lesson. I did not accept that so I fired him. I didn't know the second guy was worst, He also showed up late at the wrong address and he cancelled on me on the spot one time. The instructors both tried to take on the students directly to avoid the cut the school gets Which is very unprofessional. when I called the school they were not willing to cancel and told me they have no other instructors who are willing to provide lessons than the two I was given. I very much liked my in-class instructor Bob. He was very humorous but also taught well. I didn't have a good experience with my first 2 driving instructors but my third instructor, Salina, was awesome :) she was very patient and made sure to explain everything until you understood and she was fun to drive with. I felt comfortable driving with her and she very much helped to build my confidence as a driver and helped me to improve with each lesson. I took the certification course. My in-class instructor was Bob Karmakar. The lessons were mostly about road safety and driving tips. The instructor was mildly humorous. The first in-car instructor appointed to me was Mohammed Saleem. I contacted him as soon as I finished the in-class lessons. However, he only texted me 2 days later saying "he will confirm the schedule in a couple of days". I want to get things done fast, and I don't want this kind of behavior. Then I went through the reviews on Yelp. Vinessa R on 11/17/2017 said that Bob Karmakar was a good in-car instructor. I decided to give it a try. Thanks, Vinessa! After contacting Bob, he agreed to let me switch to him as my in-car instructor. We set up the schedule immediately and had in-car lessons throughout the next month. He's punctual. He taught me every detail about how to drive and what to do on the test. He's calm and kept encouraging me. He's literally an instructor that never gets mad. Thank you, Bob! I passed the road test on the first try. My first in-class lesson was on Jul 2, 2018, and the day I passed road test was Aug 16, 2018. Therefore, the total time to finish the course was 46 days. I have to say I wasn't very happy to find out that my first in-car instructor doesn't seem to care about my lessons. That's what happens when the school gives students random in-car instructors. I did five lessons with Mirza as my instructor in preparation for the G exam and I had a great experience with him. It was easy to schedule the time slots for our lessons and he was always accommodating whenever I needed to reschedule. Mirza is very well informed about the rules of the road and the standards you need to meet for the G test. He is an encouraging, kind, and patient instructor. They grab your money. Sit you down in a room in a stinky building because there is no garbage removal and the moment you arrive there the smell of garbage welcomes you. Once you go there they have a booklet and they have the answers already on the display. So, you're just writing down the answers. Then a guy walks in with Tim's gift card and asks you to leave a positive review in an exchange for Tim's 5 dollars card he asks you to show him the review so he can give you the card (how pathetic is that?). That's when you realize where 5-star reviews come from which is illegal to purchase reviews. They ask you to call back so they can arrange you with an instructor. When you call they tell you that their office won't pick up the phone and you need to walk in to arrange. When you go back they just give you a phone number to you sort it out with the instructor. The instructor after a week gets back to you telling you he can't and you call back again and the story continues. it's been 3 months and I have not had a minute of training and they won't give my money back. read more

Please read if you care about your driving school experience. Terrible and dreadful experience with this driving school. Would not recommend to absolutely anybody including my worst enemy. From the unreliable and inconsistent driving instructors, to the slow and poor customer service, I feel as I was ripped off for the price that was paid. Firstly, I had an instructor who I had problems with scheduling lessons. he would reject and tell me every single time I tried to schedule a lesson 3-7 days prior, to message him the day before I want to schedule a lesson. This led to months of trying to find a date that works for him as he would tell me that he doesn't have an available slot for me when I would message him the day before. Skip to 2 weeks before my G2 test and 2 lessons left, and this instructor informs me he will no longer be able to take me as his student due to going on vacation. This brings me to my poor experience with the customer service, I called the customer service the day after being notified of this and was told that in the next couple of days I would be receiving a text or call from my new driving instructor. Nothing... I call back 3 days later and ask again now with 1 week left to my test and 2 lessons and get told the same thing after expressing my haste and situation to the receptionist. Now with 6 days left to my test, I call back in the morning and express my anger and dissapointment. I was told that "you are in great hands and have nothing to worry about. I will deal with this and assure you I will be calling you back by the end of the day today with an information follow up." No call back... I call back the next day at work and ask explain my situation and ask if Eli will be able to have a word after my work which I was done at 4:00. He tells me Eli will be available and will call me by the end of the day to discuss this information. Once again, nothing... At this point I'm extremely frustrated as I've been trying to get a new driving instructor for almost 2 weeks and have 4 days left to schedule 2 lessons before my test (I work full time so it is not like I'm available all day every day.) the next morning I call back once again after work and demand to speak to him after I'm finished my work and was told Eli will be phoning me at 4:00 to discuss this. I wait till 4:30 and still no call so I call back and get told Eli is on break now and they do not know when he will get back but will call me asap. I demand to have my situation resolved at this moment as I'm fed up with all of this and get hung up on. Eli calls me 30 minutes later and tells me that yesterday they had a power outage and we're not able to contact me for that reason. Though I believe it is not true I move past it and finally resolve my issue which I now have a new instructor and 1 lesson scheduled for the next day and 1 an hour before my test. This brings me to the next issue, during my lessons with this new instructor both lessons the same thing happens, he asks me mid lesson to park in this parking lot (first lesson) and then on the side of the road (second lesson) both times I'm told to wait a couple of minutes and he will be back. I wait 15 minutes both times to see him come back with a basket full of grocery of fruits and vegetables. Buying groceries in the middle of my paid for lesson??? There was no extra time I was given and was dropped off at the exact 2 hours mark despite having a total of 30 minutes wasted waiting for my instructor to buy fruits and vegetables. Then after I had passed my test on my first try on the way home, he starts driving off route somewhere which I have no idea where. We stop at a auto shop and wait for 20 minutes for him to talk to a mechanic and take out a lawn mower that he's having troubles with. Was furious with the amount of time and effort that has been wasted with this trash company. Finally, I call once again to the customer service to discuss my driving school certification for insurance purposes. I get told in 2 weeks maximum I will be receiving An email confirming my certification will be available for pickup from service ontario. I call back today and get told that it has already been certified now being angry I have not received an email as I was promised. He then tells me that "the system" shows an email was already sent to me. I request he tells me the date and time it was sent as I've checked every single folder for the past 2 weeks making sure. As he is unable to tell me the time it was sent he tells me it was sent June 10th now being June 20th. I check and of course no email. I find it funny and hard to believe he can't even tell me the time it was sent if it really was sent to me. I purchased package #3 from AMB Driving School for $665, which included 20 hours of in-class training, 15 hours of in-car lessons, certification with MTO and use of the instructor's vehicle for the G2 road test. Unlike the majority of students, I'm in my early 30s, did not have access to a vehicle and planned to rely solely on the in-car lessons to gain sufficient skills to pass the test. In-Class Training I took the four-day course with Fahim Malik in April 2017. This is the standard course developed by the Ministry of Transportation (i.e. would be the same course material at any certified driving school in Ontario) and overall Fahim was a good instructor who kept the class engaged and offered lots of helpful tips along the way. In-Car Lessons From April-November 2017, I went through 3 instructors with AMB. As noted by others, AMB requires their students to schedule their own lessons directly with their assigned instructors. My first instructor Shah was decent, but was not punctual and very difficult to get a hold of. He would either be late for lessons or sometimes not show up at all. I complained to the school and was assigned to a second instructor, Nasim. Again, very difficult to schedule lessons with. I had one lesson with Nasim, and was a nervous wreck by the end of it. He was impatient, condescending, short-tempered, and expressed extreme frustration that I didn't already know how to drive. AVOID NASIM! I complained to the school again and this time asked for a refund. AMB's management apologized for my experience and offered to assign me to a more experienced instructor instead, which I agreed to. This instructor, Bob Karmakar was the very best! He is easy to communicate with, organized, punctual and professional. His expertise, patience and calm manner helped me get the skills and confidence I needed to pass my G2 road test (on the first try). I really don't think I would have passed with the other instructors, so I would highly recommend Bob! Review I'm giving AMB an overall rating of 3/5. Although the location was convenient, the price was competitive, and I ultimately passed the G2, I think this rating is fair given the negative experience I had with their other instructors, and the fact that it took over 6 months for me to complete their program. However, if this review was solely for Bob Karmakar, my review would be 5/5. He was an excellent in-car instructor and I wish I would have had the chance to take the classroom course with him as well. read more

Purchased Package # 1: Certification course Price: $368 + HST + Certification Fee = $450. You get 20 Hours Of In-class Sessions with Fahim Malik which is a refresher on Ontario rules and regulations. The 10 Hours Of In-Car Training was a complete joke. Fahim Malik will give you random In-car instructor based upon you're availability. My first instructor was extremely rude as he yelled at me for not stopping near my destination when the time was finish, (at least tell me when I'm nearing my 1hr of In-car lesson is done and ill pull over, instead of losing your shit when I don't check the time. This was the first lesson in car lesson lol. (Asked Malik for a new In-car instructor after the first that) Second In-car Instructor Note this guy was a little better as he was an ok human being and wouldn't raise his voice but would tell you "Omg bro what you doing I already taught you this" lol when you're at wrong lol. Furthermore, his In-car lessons were basically making me drive him for his lunch pizza runs and coffees. This whole experience was so bad I had lessons left over but wasn't worth the trouble, so I've just paid the In-car instructor for free. The driving instructors seem to be fumbling to stay on top of all their appointments, so lots and lots of students miss out on their hours before their g2 test. You pay for 10 hours of in car lessons and very rarely to you receive the full 10 hours. They push you to book a test then don't provide the hours you paid for. You get cheated out of your money, the insurance discount, and honesty haven't learned a thing on the road I didn't already know before. LITERALLY $600 DOWN THE DRAIN. 1. Driver got me sick with a very nasty case of the flu (he had it, still did the lesson and i got it 2 days later) 2. on two separate occasions he didn't show up to the lesson. The first time was because he was "out of town," which he waited until about an hour after the original lesson was scheduled to end to inform me (despite multiple texts from me). There is absolutely no excuse for this. The second time i texted him shortly before the lesson to confirm he was coming and he told me he was sick. I can't prove this, but one can't blame me for suspecting he probably hadn't just gotten sick that morning, had he warned me i would have gone into work. In case anyone thinks i'm being unreasonable there was actually a third cancellation but it was due to a snowstorm so I count that one as a responsible decision. 3. Car had significant wear. During the first lesson the left mirror was largely obstructed by dried yellow adhesive, which to the drivers credit he cleaned off after i requested him to for the second lesson, but its ridiculous it was ever there. For my last lesson there was a new large crack in the front which he "fixed" with tape. 4. Despite telling the driver i could only do weekends cause i work weekdays he made no effort to accommodate, he booked one lesson on saturday (which was the first one he didn't show up to) and then told me to pick a weekday. I agreed to it, fine, and perhaps could have gotten weekends had i raised a stink, but its still not nice. Booked 5 lessons, did 4, will never do the fifth one, steer clear read more

This school is a big scam. Beware. Instructor (Malik) kept changing the class time on a whim, and even then was 15-30 minutes late for every single session. You need to constantly call and remind him that you have a class, as it seems he does not seem to keep any kind of schedule. He didn't even didn't show up at all for one of the three classes. Did not offer a refund for the class that was entirely missed. Also at the end of the test, they drive you to the bank and ask you to pay them a bonus. The in class sessions where perfect but listen to me and several other 1 star complaints the instructors DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU.. Everything they taught me in the school the instructors just want to do it there way. Because of the area I live in I was denied the hours I need that meet my busy schedule. I work full time as required to so I can sustain myself in a city and the hours I requested where constantly passed up because it doesn't meet the instructors schedule. I almost got into a car accident because my instructor Zaidi would not stop talking about personal stuff and trying to convince me to do hours he wants to do. They will also try to get you to travel toeet them and make it more convenient on them. When it's YOUR MONEY THEY'RE WASTING. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. The driver assigned to me had me drive the first day to what seemed to be a religious centre and he disappeared inside for 15 minutes (of the 1 hour session). I then went out a further 2 hours with him but gave it up because: he constantly behaved in a distracting manner while I was in the driver seat, e.g. playing the car radio, listening on his smartphone to something that made him laugh very hard, constantly asking me "You don't like me?", and "Do you think I'm a tough guy?" I found all of this highly distracting. For the final 2 hour session, that instructor showed up late without calling and did not respond when I called him. I called AMB and complained about the instructor and said I would not go out with him again. AMB then had another instructor message me but when I replied, I did not hear from him for at least 3 days. I sent a written complaint to AMB via Registered Mail, but Canada Post was unable to deliver the letter, after numerous tries. My daughter took a G2 in-car driving lessons with instructor Zegram, he is un-professional and alway late. During the lesson, he is not focus on teaching people how to drive, he is focus on his cell phone. I will not recommended to anyone and stay away from AMB. read more

As another of my wife's projects she's decided that I need to learn to drive (legally) despite working downtown and being a short 30 min bus & train ride from work While I was skeptical at best of what to expect for the in-class portion of this particular driving school I've pressed ahead Currently I am 2 days into a 4 day course (to be completed next weekend) to complete the 20 hours in-class the Ministry of Transportation requires (they are tough on road laws yet there are so many horrible drivers on the road #justsaying) Considering I have an extremely short attention span and I live in my phone going phone-less for 6 hours a day and learning about road signs doesn't exactly sound like the best use of ones weekend Our instructor Malik has come across as engaging funny and truly a joy to listen to. Coming from some one who has attended hundreds of corporate training sessions he has set the bar really high for what I expect of my in-car experience. In-class there are quizzes tests and several opportunities to interact with other persons in the class. While the venue isn't anything top notch or ascetically pleasing you have to remember the reason you are there - the location doesn't have to be held at the Hilton. Regarding the price the package I have selected covers 10 hours in-car and 20 hours in-class for a total of $399.00 including tax. Should you wish to use their car for the driving test that option is available for an additional $145.00 While I still remain a tad bit skeptical of the industry as a whole I have enjoyed Malik's engaging teaching style and the persons in this particular class greatly. Terrible place. Expensive and my driving instructor never showed up on time once. Constant delays and unprofessional.

I paid in advance for 3 practice lessons and the right to use the car during the test. The 2 lessons went alright but the third lesson never happened. It was supposed to occur near the test using the same circuit to practice before the test. Even though I informed my instructor about the test months ago, I had to call the instructor several times in that last days to make sure that you would be able to hold your part of the deal. After crossing the city to meet him (because someone else was using the car), we rushed to the test barely in time and I failed the test. To my surprise after all that I was told by the instructor that I have to pay you extra 80 dollars to borrow the car for the next exam. Are you serious!!! read more
