Driving school: not bad, 3.5/5. Took a mark off because a lot of rules and parts of the booklet aren't gone over. In-car classes: 0/5 if you get someone who has a four-letter name. I'm not going to snitch the name here but message me if you want to make sure. ISSUE 1: The actual classes Not only was he late to almost every class, he would never schedule me in until the day before or two days before, AND he didn't follow through on finishing my classes before I left for my co-op placement. The time scheduling was really unprofessional. On top of that, he would always be on the phone or doing his own business during our lessons. And when I made repeated mistakes, he'd be pretty demeaning about it. ISSUE 2: Sketchy "rates" Basically he was purposely unclear about his hourly rates for any extra hours outside of the package. - He'd offer them like they were free because he's "generous" and "helps students", then after some sessions say that they're actually not free. When he told me his rate, I said that was completely different from what he said before and he never told me his rate; he literally replied "well I'm telling you now". You cannot do that as a professional service provider - to hide rates then tell the person after the fact with no apologies. He then got angry very quickly when I said he should have told me before. - He even texted me after that "if I told you my rates you wouldn't have taken my classes" because, as he also texted, I'm "a very cheap person". So... if he knew that and hid his rates, that looks like he got me to take his supposedly free extra hours then force me to pay for them after. Takeaway: it was manipulative to not be clear about rates. ISSUE 3: He got angry and insulting, instead of trying to resolve the issue - When I said being unclear about the rates is not okay and he can't expect me to just pay his "new" rates, he began hurling nasty insults at me and my character in person, yelling at me then asking me to get out of the car. He continued to call me names on text. Takeaway: Even if it was a misunderstanding, he should be trying to resolve that misunderstanding instead of yelling and calling names. This is not only unprofessional and excessive, it's pretty freaking mean. SUMMARY CONCLUSION After this "fallout" the day before my test, he texted he might not take me to the drive test centre (which is part of my paid package) and continued texting me insults and calling me names. I consented to going myself because I honestly never want to deal with him again. I couldn't sleep well the night before and ended up failing the test. Bye and never again. Completed my in class and in car lessons, and passed my G2 test! Without the help of AMB Driving School, I would have never have succeeded on my first attempt. I attended the evening classes with Faheem, which made the lessons interactive and fun to be apart of. I had a slight issue with my initial in car instructor however, when contacting AMB via email the problem was resolved promptly and professionally. My instructor, Muhammad was well versed, helpful, and patient with me. Overall, my experience at AMB was helpful and I would recommend this driving school to anyone that needs more confidence on the road. read more

Instructor Kamala Tiwari didn't show up for my in car lessons 3 times. She had me wait more than an hour and didn't show up 3 times.. so fucking unprofessional! Doesn't value others time! You really can't trust her with your Test date as she might forget/make poor excuses/might not even answer your calls or text messages! If there was an option, i would definitely give zero stars for her! The car was also dirty and her body odor was insane! Very uncomfortable! She gets very touchy (gets physical)! Finished my in-class and in-car lessons, and passed my G2 driving test quite perfectly, as the evaluator stated! I was very confident behind the wheel, thanks to my awesome instructor Anish Sharma (if you can, request for him!) He made me feel comfortable and at ease behind the wheel with a few laughs, while also being very professional. Only took a star off because of some complications in terms of scheduling, but other than that my money was well spent at AMB! read more

So far my experience has been amazing! The in class training by Saqib was informative but also he was able to turn dry material into something fun! There were interactive games and a few jokes here and there. I definitley suggest taking the in class as you learn some super helpful tips! When I was in high school, all my friends told me to take some chintzy $200, 4-day driving school and just get it over with. Then I could get my G2 and my G and everything would be fine.... Unfortunately I chose to take my driving classes at AMB. For four days, I was at this location from 9-3, while I was "taught" by a man who had clearly never dealt with teenagers in his life. We got to listen to him yell and scream incomprehensibly every time someone spoke, even if it was just to get clarification from the person next to them. It was brutal. And that was just half of it. The $200 or $300 included 10 in-car lessons with a "qualified" driving instructor. My instructor was very "qualified". He knew how to drive so well, that he would help me out by applying the brakes for me every time the car was supposed to stop. Unfortunately for me, this meant that I never actually learned how to brake on my own, because the guy would be using the teacher's brake all the goddamn time. When he wasn't using the brakes, he was on his cell phone, much like when you're in a cab and the cab driver is on the phone the whole time. This school is probably the reason I never wanted to learn to drive again. Do NOT go here. read more

I've always been a nervous driver and even had lessons previously with other driving instructors. Hands down Abdul has been the best one yet. All of my anxiety from before was greatly diminished. He gave me tips and tricks that were easy to remember that made some of the more difficult portions of the G2 test seem easier. I would highly recommend any new driver to get lessons with him because he is, quite simply, an amazing teacher. read more

I would not recommend this company. I booked 10 lessons at 1 hour each. During covid they reduced my lessons to five 2hour sessions . This was not in anyone's favour. They broke the agreement, how does covid affect my hours? In two hours it was to much to learn, and i was unable to digest the information the instructor gave me. The day of my G2 test the instructor booked my last driving session right before my test, which was at 8:47am. I informed him I had to be at the driving center half hour prior to the test to register, he came to get me at 730. I arrived at the driving center 10 minutes prior to my test and was rushed to register. As if I wasn't nervous enough, now I'm rushing to begin my driving test. As you can imagine I was unsuccessful and failed my road test. read more

I've had two in car driving instructors given to me, BOTH of them stop reply to my messages, I haven't been given the opportunity to go for my FIRST in car lesson and it's been 6 months since I completed the in school classes this is absolutely horrific. I've paid in full and their driving instructors don't care to actually do their job and take you out for your lessons THAT you've already paid for! I could have gotten my my g2 by now. and the best part is they keep telling me the instructors given to me are their top and best instructors, it's a fucking joke never give these guys a cent unless you want to waste your money and never finish read more

I purchased 10 hours of in-car driving lessons and told them I was in a hurry to complete them before school started. They told me I would start the next day and get a call from the driver. Every day after that I would not get a call, I'd call them at the end of the day and they assured me I would get a call the next day. This went on for 3 days until I got a call. The driver said I had to wait another 2 days before we could start. After two days, he cancelled 30 mins before the lesson and asked to reschedule to later in the day. Fine. When it came time for that lesson, he was late and when I called to see where he was, he said his car was broken down and I needed to wait until "maybe" tomorrow. I called the school and got my refund after that. read more

I just passed my G1 Road Test yesterday and it was all thanks to Abdul (Mir) at AMB Driving. He was a wonderful instructor! Very patient and calm. He was so good about explaining to me what would be on my test that when it came time to take the test there was really no way I was going to fail. I was the most prepared one could be. This is an honest review of my experience with AMB driving school. So far my experience with this company has been poor and I would NOT recommend it to anyone else because, though the theory portion is great, to really learn how to drive a car you have to actually get IN a car. I attended the school on Nugget Avenue for a 4-day course mid-July 2017. The in-class portion was good. However, I have spent the last MONTH texting/calling my driving instructor, the in class supervisor, and the manager trying to book my in-car portion of the course. No luck so far. For this reason, I have given the school a 1* rating. I have contacted (so far): -The driving instructor Nasim (no response) -the in-class instructor Saqib (referred to the manager) -the office ("we'll get back to you" ) -the manager (in progress) Note: If anything changes in these circumstances I will adjust this review based on the in-car experience. It'll likely be similar to the in-class review below. Hopefully, that time comes soon. In-class As I said before, the in-class is great. Instructor: My instructor's name was Saqib. He's very approachable and willing to answer any questions you may have. He provides ample time for breaks so you can stretch your legs and refresh your brain. He also tries to make the class content fun to learn by using jokes, in class games, and real-life scenarios. The class: You sit at a desk in a classroom like setting. The instructor flips through PowerPoint slides. The slides are very easy to understand and are sometimes interactive. At points, there are also videos to better illustrate what you're learning. Also, there are 2 quizzes per day that help ensure your paying attention in class. According to the instructor, no cell phones are allowed at any time (other than break) or you may be asked to leave. We were warned of this on the first day of class and everyone listened. I DO NOT recommend this driving school, for the below specified reasons: 1. They cheat in their advertisement. If you check the webpage, it says that if you register before a specific date, then you will get $100 off. Well, that 'special offer' is there all the time: there is no discount, it is simply a cheap marketing technique and they charge you the full price all the time. 2. For the in-class lessons, the instructor will waste your time by giving you a 1 HOUR break for another 30-40 minutes of class, just to say that he has completed his in-class hours. You don't want to waste your time like that: either teach me something, or let me go! 3. When you pay for the package, the fees for pick-up and drop-off are included in the package. What happened with my instructor (Sandy) was that she made me take subway to get to some 'convenient-for-her' location, costing me about $50, and when I first tried to tell her that the pick-up and drop-off is her responsibility and I paid for it, she said she can do it but then she will not teach me the way she should (BLACKMAIL) and will not be responsible for covering the material. 4. Further, I paid $120 for the so called G2 package, which included the $75 for the pick-up, drop-off and the car to use for the exam, plus $45 for 1 hour of driving at the TEST location as a mock test. What she did instead was she counted the 1 hour of driving class starting from the 'pick-up' (of course the pick-up happened NOT at my place) and I ended up driving for 1 hour to the test location. THIS IS CHEATING! I did not receive what I paid for. 5. To sum up, I will give the information about the instructors: the in-class one kept telling how he was the worst driver and according to my count he has had over 5 major accidents (from his stories of "..this happened to me.."); the in-car instructor was pregnant (I mean 5-7 months), and all she thought about was how to drop-me off somewhere where she picks up the next student. I was in car when another student was driving and she was texting at that time, when a MAJOR accident was about to happen: a car almost hit the car from the side at a high speed. To sum this all up, my experience here should warn you to do a bit more research and find a school that does not cheat, that teaches what it is supposed to teach, and ensures adequate safety for you on the road. read more

I would recommend this school for people who wants to learn very detailed lessons on how to drive. If you get Malik Naseer as your instructor, you sure will have a great time from your first day until you finish your driving lessons and would keep in touch to make sure you pass on your drive test. The way Malik teaches is incredible as in just 1 hour on your first day, you will learn a lot from him already. He may be talkative but you wouldn't notice your fear of driving is being relieved by his jokes and all. Again, I would recommend this school to you guys who are wanting to learn the best way. read more

I took my lessons mostly at the AMB driving school North York locations at Sheppard and Willowdale, but I think they are pretty consistent throughout with same instructors rotating to different areas on different days of the week. I thought that this would be a good driving school as per their website and the fact that apparently they claim to be the official driving school for all of Toronto District School Board, but no, that wasnt true. They are unproffesional and once they take your money, forget customer service. Its even worse when you try to get your final certificate! - At the pick up location for the certificates the person who is supposed to give them out rarely shows up. I know this because I've often seen this because angry students or their parents would come to my in-class lessons to complain. This also happened in my case - I came to pick up my certificate an no one was there. I even called and confirmed with the person before coming and he never showed up or picked up the number he said I can reach him at when I got there. Luckily, I knew the instructor teaching that night and he was nice enough to give me the number of someone he knew who could issue a certificate for me. I had to be very persuasive though. I looked through all their filing cabinets while I waited and I found the forms myself and wrote one up while waiting for the new guy to get there. He signed it and thats all. I'm not even sure if they abide to any privacy laws cus I was able to go through all their files as I waited! Aside from customer service though, I did learn some things about driving. However my driving instructor wasnt very good. He used the break a lot and would grab the wheel to help me out. This gave me a false sense of how good I was and surely I failed my driving test when I was on my own. I was really disatisfied! Especially since they tell you the day of the driving test about additional fees which they never mention before - something like an extra $110 for getting the car and instructor to go to the test with you. More about the fees - they seem to have random other fees that they didnt mention to you initially. Like randomly when I was picking up my certificate they wanted me to pay an additional $20 for it just out of no where as the certificate processing fee or something. I ended up not paying it when someone else processed the certificate which makes me very suspicious about their company policies or the kind of people working there. The only good thing about this school were some (only some) of the in class lesson instructors. I went to a few and I found 1 guy that actually did a really good job. I guess he just really liked teaching. Nevertheless though, all instructors in the in-class lessons skim the teaching time by at least an hour, finishing lessons way earlier and telling you to record on official records that the lesson finished later. I didnt mind leaving early but I felt kind of ripped off like perhaps they could've taught more. We also skipped some of the matterial and some of the instructors were keen to leave right after class. Overall, Id say you should go here if you already know how to drive and all you want is to get a certificate as a discount on your insurance. If you are a new driver though, this might not be such a good place for you :( read more

I've attended this location for the 4 day march schooling. I've dealt with 3 different driving instructors from this location. I did my G1 exit schooling here, and i also did a G2 exit package here that was meant to prepare you for the G2 Exit test. In class are boring just like everywhere else. My first instructor couldn't form a proper sentence. I got him replaced with Bob. Bob was a really good instructor who helped me pass my G1 exit test. My G2 exit test practice was HELL, i got a guy name Rahmat...Please save yourself the money and Instantly call for a replacement. Prior to this little practice package, i've been driving everyday to school and work, so i had a good amount of driving skills. This guy yells at other driver who are training for their G1 exit test....I had to pull over for him to give another young guy(from a different driving school) a lecture about who have the right of way...given the kid face was already nervous. He's one of your typical creepy Indian guy who stares and check out every women as they walk on the sidewalk and make jokes about them. On the day of the test, He's braking for me and turning my steering wheel when i had to back up into the parking spot at the DRIVING CENTER. anyways i passed my G2 Exit test with a 98% and no of it was with the help of him. I got the 2 percent deducted because of what Ramat told me to do and the examiner told me to NOT do it again. anyways as we're driving back to drop me off home. He told me he's got an important thing to go to and just dropped me off at the side of the road to take the bus. I didn't even had cash or bus tokens........DO NOT get him as your driving instructor, especially if you're never driven before or nervous about it. He will truly F**K you over and your money. read more

from my experience AMB/ Abdul (mir) doesn't even deserve 1 star. starting with my in class lessons, i did them at leaside high school and the teacher was okay but at the end of the class i never got my receipt and with several attempts to call and located my teacher i was unlucky. this proved to be very challenging when signing up for my in car lessons. First, i had a lot of trouble just getting a driver because the women on the other end of the phone gave me: 1) a driver in a completely different area than me, 2) the number of a student attending AMB driving school, 3) the correct number but with the wrong area code. After a good frustrating half hour of calling her back repeating that she had given me the wrong number AGAIN i finally was able to get in touch with my soon to be driving instructor, Abdul (mir). i booked my 10 hours and on the night before my first day of driving Abdul texted me saying that he couldn't make it for the lesson the following morning. this unfortunately wasn't the first occurrence of last minute cancellation on his end. i had all my 5 days of driving set up and then on the 3rd day he informed me that he didn't have me scheduled for the days that i was suppose to be scheduled for. right now I'm missing 4 hours of driving and going off to university in 4 days. for the past week i have been trying to get in touch with him and reschedule before i leave but he's never replied. its the most frustrating thing when 4 days before i move he texts me back saying i need to send him my availability dates and that his phone had been broken. i took two days off work and messaged him the days and of course again the night before he tells me that he is booked till the end of the month. so i guess i won't be getting my drivers license any time soon. I originally called seeking a quote on individual manual driving lessons. The first representative I spoke with was able to answer all of my questions and was very helpful. I called back the following week to book and was given new requirements for the booking, which ended up costing more than I was originally quoted. That, in itself, wasn't a huge issue, but the representative I was speaking with was unnecessarily rude during the conversation. I called back two days later to speak with the manager to get clarification on the package I was interested in purchasing (as I now had two different quotes) and the representative put me on "hold" (I could still hear their conversations) and he began mocking me for wanting to speak with a manger... Needless to say, I hung up before ever speaking with the manager and will not be booking with this company. The driver instructors may be great (as per the other reviews), but their front end customer service experience is very poor. read more
