I should be ashamed of myself, since I'm a fan of Amager Bryghus beer but had actually never been to the brewery before today, but that's because this place is only open for public on every Saturday between 10-13 at their office.
Granted, this place is more like a warehouse/office where you buy your beer and go. We came here on a Saturday morning, trying to find our way in which happened to be located on the other side of the building toward Egensvej.
Beer here is definitely cheaper than those sold in commercial shops. So, why not going directly to the source when you're a fan of their beer as well? It takes a little bit of biking toward that place called "langt ude på Amager" (even I, the self-proclaimed Amagerkaner, said that) but it's totally worth it, if you buy beer in large quantity. They also sell beer by the boxes (as I saw a guy dragging a baby car seat (with actual baby in it) with one hand and holding a box of beer with the other hand - I know you need it, man!).
The selection is somewhat limited (by limited I meant like 20 different ones) that is on display by the cashier. Please note that Amager Bryghus makes a lot of different types of beer, so some bottles are already phased out from the brewery, but can still be found on bottle shops like Ølbutikken, Kihosk, Mikkeller & Friends and Amager's own Fish & Beer.
I ended up buying four bottles of their dark variants and I think Anders A bought like 5 (we're on shopping spree, obviously!) and we had one cold one to drink at the spot, outside (since there's no actual place to sit down and drink here).
You can pay with DANKORT only, so they don't receive normal visa or even foreign cards.
Please be aware this place is a not a bar, but a warehouse that sells beer for private purchase ONLY ON SATURDAY but I am still giving it five stars because service is friendly and patient (somehow, apart from men dragging baby seats, there are also wives with shopping list from their husbands, and then there are beer nerds like us) and beer is definitely cheaper here compared those sold commercially.
So, if you're a fan of Amager Bryghus beer and don't mind to bike a little further out in Amager, this is definitely a place to go, just remember to turn on the alarm on Saturday morning! read more
