But that doesn't scan quite as well does it? Maybe it's the friendliness of the Danish people but you get treated well, without the false feeling that you get in America. This natural friendliness leaves me open to an attractive lady offering me drinks. Don't worry my wife was by my side. So she wasn't attractive enough to cause marriage issues. Until my wife stumbles across this review... Some of the concoctions on sale are made by themselves, some are made by others & rebottled by them. Or some are just drinks that are seemingly rare in this part of the world, but are common to many of us. Either way they sell great grogg with a friendly nature. The aquavit they had was a rare transparent & incredibly smooth blend. That as soon as the first drop hit my tongue I knew I was going to but it. Same goes for the home distilled local liquor that my tried, but whose name evades me at this moment... (it must be the booze) Anyways it was a great place to find & a happy end to a failed search of a seemingly none existent flea market that was supposed to be in the area.

He was very educated on his whiskeys, and added to our wonderful experience. Unfortunately, Danish whiskeys are still too young to enjoy, so we sipped on a few imported Scottish and Spanish ones. Fun environment/experience in an indoor market space.

Their selection surprised me; they have everything from sake to cachaça and even moonshine. Most of what they offer is whiskey and it ranges from affordable to the REALLY good and old stuff that you only break out if you need to impress an important person. There are lots of tastings offered at a good price, too bad I can't make it to the mezcal tasting coming up! The guys working here were really nice and even ran down to the basement for me several times to check if a product was in stock. They also didn't look down at us for asking for a cheaper option and suggested some good bottles. Very good, unpretentious service and a great selection. You can even get a little tiny hotel-fridge-sized bottle for some spirits, which is excellent if you've never tried it before and would like to test it before splurging on a whole bottle. The prices can obviously be a little high but for the most part it is reasonable compared to buying duty free. You might be able to get a popular brand cheaper at the supermarket when it's on sale but for the more interesting stuff, definitely come by Juul's.

Wow, this place was excellent!…read more It is located across from the church and has a Belgian flag out front. The owner is super nice to talk to and very knowledgable about the beers, the food and the area. It is definitely very Belgian and there are many Belgian beers in bottles you can have with food or to buy. The food here was delicious! We only had a snack but it was amazing! We shared the large charcuterie plate between four people. There were three different types of meat, all very fresh and delicious. It also came with bread, cheese, small pickles and the most delicious pate I've ever tried. This place is well worth a stop!

I cautiously followed my coworker down the steps into this basement gem and it was lifechanging (maybe a little exaggeration.) Eric specializes in charcuterie and wine. He also must have a side business of converting lapsed vegetarians/sometime vegans into full on carnivores. The combination of his quaint shop with classical music, "try this" samples, great deals on exceptional wine, and probably the best (if not most memorable) sandwich I've ever had, made Thirion one of the high points of my week in Copenhagen. Sheer simplicity with great ingredients-crusty bread, Dijon mustard, arugula, salami, and a cornichon pickle, washed down with some red wine made for quite a memorable afternoon. Make that 2...Liked it so much I made another trip the next day for a repeat performance. Eric is just a nice guy with great knowledge and products who you want to see do well. Highly recommend Thirion.

Mostly the store was filled with alcohol beverages, secondly biscuits & cookies, third was pesto. The fresh produce, cheese and sausage was only at the two counters on the back. No sommelier on the wine counter either. The fresh produce like greens, some of it were no longer fresh. They did serve some kind of buffet or restaurant (much like the one in Ikea). Honestly, I was unimpressed because it was nothing compare to the Italian wholesale supermarket in Hamburg. I gave it three stars because I did like their choices of gelato (ice cream). Sizes ranging from a cup to a whopping 5 litres box. Overall, they need to have more specialty stuff, especially sausages and cheese.
