Just stopping by in town, needed a quick meal close to the hotel, what else was I supposed to do…read moreaside from checking Yelp for a quick and painless solution? In this case, it was a VERY good recommendation. It is clearly best especially when comparing with all the bars around it. Those either look shady, sad or have annoying music playing in the background. This one is way more chilled, a really nice decor (has an 'old tavern' style going on) and the food has germanic proportions. The staff is nice but don't take their recommendation for the Kolsch beer, there are better options out there. As for the food, well, I didn't order anything fancy just a regular steak which was decent enough, but the prices were really friendly!

What an unexpected surprise on the other side of the river! If the restaurant hasn't gotten the…read morerecognition already, I'd be surprised if it doesn't get Michelin recommended or Bib Gourmand shortly. What stood out were the flavors. Bold, tangy, and complemented everything well. We got the rhubarb cheese tart as the appetizer and the sweet/tartness of the rhubarb was nicely offset by the cheese. Entrees were the halibut with koodles (kohlrabi in noodle form) and mashed tomatoes. The kohlrabi was the unexpected star. Loved the tangy taste offset by the fish and potatoes. Also had the linguine with octopus. The linguine was pretty std but the lemon burst of flavor was so pleasant! Go here and enjoy a meal! It's a Köln gem!
