I visited Dr. Adams for help with MS symptoms and overall health. Unfortunately, I did not feel listened to or supported. I shared that I had not gone to the doctor for years because of past abuse by a physician, she told me I needed to be recorded and then pressed record on her phone. I confided this personal information to explain the gap in my care history and explained I prefer referrals to only female physicians. Instead of feeling any better, I left feeling dismissed, shamed, and treated as though I were the problem, rather than receiving the compassionate, patient-centered care I was hoping for. I chose Dr. Adams because she was recommended to me as an internal medicine doctor, which generally means providing comprehensive primary care for adults -- managing chronic conditions like MS and also coordinating preventive screenings like mammograms, colon cancer screening, and menopause/perimenopause care. Patients looking for a true internal medicine provider should know that this was not the experience I received. read more
