The staff here are very attentive and hark back to the Oddbins I used to shop at in the early 90's. These guys are seriously into their wine and love to talk about it. There is always a bustle about the place as they run a large wholesale operation so people whizz about with trolleys loaded with boxes, but will always find time to help you with your wine buys if they can. If you want good wine and decent advice this is the plce to go in leeds. The selection is really excellent and the advice to go with it is always available with special offers always on.

It does a bit more than this actually, but it is, at the end of the day, an off-license in a quiet residential area and with that kind of business, there is little scope for anything exciting. It's not a particularly cultured or refined offie, but it does plenty of the usual poisons, and is relatively cheap - I used it when I was at a party in the area and because of it's location, that's probably the only thing you'll use it for.

Last time I passed there were signs outside proclaiming that members of the Chapel Allerton tennis club get a 25% discount and that they had the best range of champagne available in 'Chapel A'. I have never bought champagne but I have picked up some good deals here on fancier wines than the supermarket range and ales.

Beer Ritz (laaavely play on words isn't it) is an absolute haven for beer lovers. With what seems like millions of varieties from all corners of the globe, beer taps on the counter and hugely knowledgeable and friendly staff, it is the stuff dreams are made of. A trip here makes your evening in with the boys all the more cultured (and lethal on some occasions) and is definitely worth it.

I don't suppose I was expecting anything outstanding, it is after all only a shop that sells alcohol, but when you're an inquisitive sort you like to go in and have a nose of everything! Inside there were some friendly staff who were ready to help me if I needed. (I don't think I needed help really...) They had a few nice offers on some of their selections, which was definitely not the wide ranging classy choice that Chez Vin might have on offer, but certainly good enough for the less discerning drinker. All in all it had a much nicer vibe than, say, Bargain Booze (which can smack a little of desperation), but was not quite of the calibre of Chez Vin. As a nice inbetweener I'm sure you'll be satisfied with the mix of deals and decent drinks!

It's quite a small shop but nonetheless I've never seen it particularly heaving, so if you are nipping through and need to post a parcel I can imagine this being a rather modest and simple task - certainly nothing like the hell of using the town post office, that's for sure! They sell all kinds of cheap booze deals, which is great for anyone living locally too. As well as that there are all the snacks, crisps, confectionary, stationary and other related newsy items that you could hope for. My favourite part is their uber, and I mean uber, awesome little sweet bags for £1. You get *loads* of delicious penny sweets in a huge bag for just a quid! Penny-sweet-tastic. The shop on the whole is reasonably friendly, certainly the chap at the counter was nice enough if nothing else. All in all, pretty handy to know about!

Well this little beauty priovides the two. It's also useful for loads of stuff, getting rid of your letters and stocking up on some alcohol soaking snacks. I love my posh emporiums, I really do. From time to time though Bargain Booze fits the bill and this one especially. Maybe it's because it is en route to several of my friends houses or maybe it's because I actually am a tramp. It does actually sell sweets, so it kind of makes sense. The shop itself is essentially a large newsagent which sells tobacco products, sweets, biscuits, juice, fizzy drinks, newspapers etc but it also sells quite a large amount of stationary products. Biros, pencils, note pads, envelopes and the like are all available at wallet friendly prices. Plus, they do sell some really random ornaments, just in case you are visiting your granny and you want to pick up something for her mantle piece and also good old discounted Christmas decorations if you are one of those people who can't refuse a discount when they see one and plan for Christmas extremely early.
