What makes Bosque different is the community. The small class sizes mean my child isn't just a number -- every teacher truly knows them, checks in regularly, and encourages them to take healthy risks. At Academy, we felt the culture was much more high-pressure and competitive, and at Sandia Prep the environment was good but not quite as personal as Bosque. The academics at Bosque are rigorous, but not overwhelming. My child is challenged, supported, and actually enjoys learning. The senior thesis and independent projects prepare students for college in ways that go beyond test scores. At Academy there are more AP courses, but the trade-off seemed to be higher stress and less balance. Another unique strength is how Bosque uses its location in the bosque (river forest) for science, service learning, and hands-on projects. That connection to nature, plus strong arts programs, has given my children experiences they wouldn't have had elsewhere. Social-emotional support is woven into the culture, which was important to us. We wanted a school where our child would be seen, known, and valued -- and Bosque really delivers.

That was written when I was much younger,…read moreand I have a much different and a better view of this whole situation now so I will write a better review. I went to that school from preschool (they called it k-4 when I was in it) all the way up until 8th grade. There were many different principals while I was there but my experience with one of them, Mrs. Cordova, was the most memorable and was my main reason for such a hateful review. She would often take advantage of the fact that I was not only stupid as a preteen, but that I was always the one being walked all over. She had been my 2nd grade teacher, and not long after became the principal. She tried to get me to be a mediator for a group of girls in my class that caused the most issues and were the main bullies in the school at the time. She also never suggested solutions or helped in any way when it came to academic problems. At the time, the math teacher was one of her close friends and she would, in fact, "play the devils advocate" whenever anyone said any sort of issue they had with the math teacher, including with her own son. Different children have different needs and some are more sensitive than others. It was not helpful or kind of her to always try and pin the blame on me for not understanding what the teacher was teaching. They would suggest tutoring but a middle schooler and a high schooler being put together for tutoring doesn't work well OFTEN. High schoolers can and DO get distracted easily, especially in an environment where they are not allowed to get distracted or talk much with their friends until lunchtime which was when tutoring was. This school was not helpful unless you were one of the really academically strong kids, and that was my issue. It also was not a very okay environment to be gay in, especially when it was covid and it felt like the world was ending. It was not a good experience for me overall, but I would like to apologize about the hateful and disrespectful review. It doesn't reflect the person that I am now. Please just be mindful of your children and remember, every sin is seen the same in God's eyes and we don't chastise or intimidate our children and relatives for eating bacon like we have gay people for being gay. Truly love each other and do not judge, we do not have the right to only God can. The two really hateful reviews are from people who don't know Jesus and sent their kids to the school simply so that they could use their children as a crutch to write bad reviews, and the only review they have written is about the school they opened up an account just to write a bad review That being said, my son has straight, A's knows more about the Bible than I do knows a lot about math a lot about history a lot about science is great in PE and that's not mentioning how big he is. He's the biggest kid there by far in his grade there are a few things just like any other school that worry me a little Bit And it doesn't mean the schools bad it just means some of the teachers need to get their act together. I really hope some of them don't play favorites but I'm sure that many of the people that write these horrible reviews about this wonderful school have that favorite game they play to I'm sure they played every day at work. They play it on the road they played at home. They play it with their friends. This place is a wonderful school to send your child a little expensive but it's far less expensive than the other schools that are charging 12 and $13,000 For your child ago I paid $6800 a year and yes it's a little bit harder because I had to take a massive pay cut to move from Seattle to New Mexico but my son is happy very happy. I hope that people make it an assessment for themselves, rather than listening to the horrible reviews that were written from normal people that don't get employed by the school there's literally only four reviews. Including this one don't work here I'm a plumber. Everybody knows me is the big red bearded man. I'm more friendly than I ever have been because my family is happy. My sons education is paramount. This is an accredited school. He's gonna go far despite what some of the haters say. Have a nice day everybody great place to send your child. And trump is great. Kumon makes him more of an independent learner, and lets him work at whatever level he is at. If he's lost or confused, there is help, he can go back, he can change direction of what he is studying with Kumon and then return to his problem area when he is ready. We have been there about 1.5 years. Susan Howell is the owner of the franchise and is not only a wonderful person, but is very hands on with what is going on. Most of the people working there are very good. We haven't had a problem except when my son was adjusting to the program - which took a few months. We have done both Math and Language Arts, and are currently only enrolled in Math due to time constraints. Susan is always willing to work with a family in whatever way will help the child, which is her main concern. When we arrive, the kids are usually focused, quiet, but generally happy. I don't see melt-downs or sad faces. I think that the crew is optimistic and positive in their interactions with the children, and it shows in their attitudes. Don't get me wrong - teaching discipline with young children is sort of an upward climb. But the folks at Mrs. Howell's Kumon treat discipline and good work with nothing but praise. I have not observed any problem or any hard sales of anything. I would say that the biggest problem we have encountered is with my son's giftedness, in that too much repetition is not really the best for most gifted children. However, Mrs. Howell is ready to accommodate to individualize the program for the child, and in our case, we are fortunate to benefit from her experiences as the mother of gifted children. Thank goodness we have a positive, educational choice with some truly professional people in Albuquerque!

My daughter has been attending Kumon for Math enrichment for over three years now. It has been a…read moreGodsend. The math program that APS adopted was not sufficient in developing numerical fluency, and Kumon has supplemented this need beautifully. My daughter is gifted in cognition and critical thinking, but her math calculation achievement test scores were average. I am so glad that my mother (a veteran teacher) suggested we start Kumon to scaffold her learning. She has managed to do well on curricular / district / state testing; and most importantly, she has confidence when solving math problems. On a personal note, Susan and her team are so very kind and patient with my family. Over the past three years, they have allowed us to go on hiatus while taking a long family trip, as well as cater how many pages we do a week depending how busy / hectic our lives are. Susan is extremely responsive to all my questions and emails. I am always saying how grateful we are to her! This evening my daughter had to stay late finishing up a test, and they couldn't have been kinder to us. I am so glad Albuquerque has this beneficial resource in our community.

My kid attended Holy Ghost from Pre-K - 8th grade and during 8th grade graduation which was suppose to be a good day turned into a complete nightmare! We advised Dr. Copland (principal) that my kid had made honors for the whole year of 8th grade and was not recognized appropriately during awards ceremony. She insisted that our kid did not make honors 3rd quarter we showed her proof we held a hard copy certificate/grades for each quarter of 8th grade, including 3rd quarter. After all the money we have put into this school (mind you never asked for financial aide) the least we could have expected from the principal was an apology. During the graduation after the awards ceremony, the principal avoided us and would not approach us after being advised by her, herself to bring in proof of the 3rd quarter honors. We have had continuous issues throughout the years; however, this was one that was most impacting as it took away from a special day.

The campus is great, and we were always allowed to eat outside if I want to do. the only problem I had with the school is there was a GSA gay straight alliance. club and other kids were forced to partake in activities even if we didn't want to and we're part of the club, like everyone was forced to a minute of silence for LGBTQ plus oppression among other forced activities. academics and people at the school were great, but I did have some problems with school activities.
