Sailwind Construction: you get what you pay for!…read more Roughly 2 years ago I was looking for a company to remodel my mother's home in NE Pensacola. During the bid process I was told by one of the contractors to be wary of choosing the contractor with the lowest bid. According to his logic, while the cheapest contractor might still do good work, the level of micromanagement required to get quality work out of him/her would negate the savings. Unfortunately I chose not to listen to his advice and hired Sailwind. I quickly developed the opinion that Christi Colabianchi has little understanding of the methods involved in performing actual labor. Sub-contractors even pointed this out to me, and her main sub confided in me that she was overwhelmed. This, coupled with her lack of time on the job site meant there was little quality control, and just as I had been warned, constant micromanagement was required to get a semi-decent product. Beginning with quality of product, for roughly 2 months I had 2 massive holes in my ceiling from the electricians falling through. I brought this up to her and she had no idea they existed.......2 months later! Why? Because she was rarely there. Additionally, some walls weren't square, there were several issues with installed lights not working, cracked tiles in the bathroom, malfunctioning plumbing......the list goes on and on. For one 4' section of unpainted baseboard they used 4 pieced together sections of scrap. In the end she flat out refused to honor her one year warranty and blamed me for the problems. Unfortunately I had already stupidly paid her for the 4th draw, so there was no fixing the mistakes. And then there's the issue with the subs. During a deployment a neighbor called to tell me that one of the contractors working on the house had "New American Nazi" stickers on his van. You can't make up this stuff! On three occasions we were told that the painter would be there on a weekend, and we arranged to board our dogs....surprise surprise, each time they were a no-show. The house would sit idle for weeks, and Christi's answer was always "we're working the permitting process". At one point I even refused payment and started looking for another contractor, but nobody was available to finish it on timeline, so I regretfully rehired her. To prevent others from having a similar experience I recommend that you get everything in writing! Several times during the remodel Christi would make suggestions, but she was so flighty that most of them never came to fruition. When I confronted her she would say that it wasn't in the contract and it was never discussed. For those of you about to go through this process, carry a binder with you and note every change. Have them sign and date it immediately. Also if the contract is over $30K get a lawyer to review it. A lot of these companies use generic contracts with ambiguous language. For instance, the language for my completion date said by XX date it would be "reasonably completed". There's really no way to quantify "reasonably complete", and when the project drags on and on you're SOL.

The price was more then fair, I understand how much labor goes into work like this. I will definitely be calling them back for more work. Thank you ortiz remodeling! Edit* I am definitely not the ortiz daughter lol. I am 42 years old. I wish I was because then maybe I could learn how to do all this work myself! Lol look Debby I don't know you but you really seem to say alot of negative things about them to get attention or idk maybe trying to get free work. I'm not here to argue with a childish elderly lady. ..but hopefully you realize you are in the wrong. The ortiz's are very sweet people abs they have A TON of people to back their work. You are the only one I have seen say anything negative about them. I really feel for you and I hope you are not the type of lady I am thinking you are...I also hope no one else believes your trash talk. Get a life.

Oversprayed paint on our concrete, brick, roof, roof shingles, and solar panels. Our new gate…read morewon't close after one week, fence is completely coming apart after one week, no show April 24, 2025 to come fix fence, gate, and clean up overspray on concrete, brick, and white dog door in back. Altered invoices AFTER paid in full to include $150 to remove one screw and a corner board from carport while having the ladder nearby, would have gladly paid $25 or $50 but not $150 but Leslie did this. Added another line item of paint $220. They still owe us $1150 for the overpayment which we thought was for fencing but was for the discount they gave us due to the job being around $12,000. Even though they advertise on Yelp, Nextdoor, and HOUZZ and other apps that they are a General Contractor, they are not and in Okaloosa County and the state of Florida they are NOT licensed to do siding and failed to put flashing on our new siding so insurance will not take off the "red flag" until it is done correctly. Exterior doors, structural repairs, roofing, new electrical, is not allowed in Okaloosa County. They are a nice couple at first, they want the job and the money but if you tell them something is potentially wrong or even ask questions about your project, they go into defense mode despite the evidence. We even asked Leslie if a permit was required for the fence she said no and that is correct, but a permit is required for the siding they put in and they did not pull the permit. Mr Ortiz cut a pipe in the back by the back master bedroom and bathroom and it flooded the next day for nearly one full week. We did not blame them only asked if they knew where the water might be coming from inside since the pipe in the middle of the house was disturbed. The overspray on our roof shingles and solars panels is something TIMMERMAN ROOFING, who came out to inspect, has never seen in their many years of business. A total disregard for protecting our roof and we had no idea until our neighbors brought it to our attention. Leslie refused us 3x to come clean up the overspray; they charged us for pressure washing $200 and as you can see in the photos they never did the tops of them, they are still filthy but the guys who did it before just used a ladder but Leslie charged us anyway. And they DO NOT GUARANTEE THEIR WORK/labor AS ADVERTISED and are NOT GENERAL CONTRACTORS as shown in their company photos and titled Advertisements. We do not recommend using them at all.

I was then promised a time for a quote, but no one showed up. I had to reach out multiple times just to get a response. Eventually, someone did come to my house. He was polite and gave me a price for part of the job. I asked for a few additional, simple items (like a small paver pad for trash cans) and was told I'd receive a full quote by email. That email never came. Again, I had to follow up multiple times with no results. After being ignored, I gave up and contacted other companies who were responsive and professional. If a job--especially one around a pool--is too difficult or not something you want to take on, it would be far better to just say so instead of stringing customers along. I wasn't begging for a job; I was simply looking for basic communication and reliability. Would not recommend.

Chimene & Charlie Puska of Coastal Cottage Concierge are not reputable people. They cheated me…read more Stay away! I hired Chimene & Charlie Puska of Coastal Cottage Concierge in April 2019 to perform shrub trimming and related landscape maintenance at my home in Rosemary Beach, FL. After showing them the scope of the work to be done, I agreed to their request for a 50% premium in monthly service cost over my prior vendor in order to get a premium service. I paid each monthly invoice promptly through July of 2019 including paying an extra $30 for pine straw. My property manager advised me a week before my arrival on August 1, 2019 that the landscape work of Coastal Cottage Concierge had many deficiencies. I tried to contact Chimene and Charlie to remedy the deficiencies before my arrival. They informed me by email that they were leaving town and were suspending all services to me. I repeatedly tried to reach them by phone, text message, and email to no avail. Upon arrival at my home on August 1st, I found that while some of the shrubs had indeed been trimmed, the majority of the landscaping had not been touched. Weeds were growing throughout the pine straw that simply needed to be pulled. No fresh pine straw was applied despite the fact that I had paid for it. The rear courtyard was severely overgrown and in need of a hard trim. Finally, my irrigation system had two significant leaks which not only caused water geysers, but also prevented water from flowing to the plants that needed watering. This resulted in drought related stress to some of my plants and bushes. So not only did they not provide the premium service that we had agreed on, but they didn't provide the pine straw application that I paid for, and they left me in lurch, forcing me to find a replacement landscape service provider on short notice. I have tried repeatedly to reach them by phone, text message, and email. They owe me a refund and an apology. Stay away from these dishonest and disreputable people. They are not to be trusted. Consumer's Desired Resolution: Chimene and Charlie Puska, through their company Coastal Cottage Concierge, should refund the $30 that I paid for pine straw that was never installed and $200 for not providing the premium service that they had agreed to over the 4 months that I was paying them and then leaving me in a lurch.

We had Pettinato Construction, Inc. gut and remodel our master bathroom. They are THE best…read moreconstruction company we've ever worked with! We appreciated working with a local, family owned company who is committed to serving the Gulf Breeze, Navarre, and Pensacola area (i.e. who didn't disappear to work in Mexico Beach, chasing the clean-up work post Hurricane Michael). We set up the project with them in November and asked that it start the first week in January. The work started on time, the demolition, rough construction, plumbing, tile work, electrical, and finishing carpentry work was done daily, and was finished in exactly TWO weeks! (The custom glass saloon-style doors can't be measured until the tile work is done. They were installed two weeks later, so the whole project took four weeks from beginning to end.) They discovered an unknown active termite problem (a blessing in disguise!) and worked very collaboratively with Bryan Pest Control to kill and remove them without the added work upsetting the timeline. John designed the project with his CAD program to help us imagine the possibilities of the space, Karen was the project estimator and work scheduler/coordinator, and Chris was our on-site coordinator and carpenter. (That guy can do anything and make it look easy!) Tony also effortlessly installed the tile. And the cost for the whole project was very reasonable. We now have a very functional master bath and we are SO pleased with it! It has a pocket door to close off the toilet area with ADA compliant grab bars, a roll-in rain and hand-held shower with grab bars that easily accommodates a wheelchair, a new closet for added storage, new floor tiles, and new quartz countertop and sinks. There were no surprise costs. All of the workers were very proud of the quality work they did and were very professional. We couldn't be happier. We recommend them to others and will definitely use them again for future home improvement projects! The pic here shows the new, updated master bathroom.
