Once on site, we had a few minutes in the Margarita Bar to take a bathroom break, grab water or snack, etc. Then we went to another area to get our gear put on and then headed to the first line. Before getting started one of the guides gave instructions on what not to do with the gear, how to hold on and how to pull yourself in if you don't make it all of the way to the next platform. Next the adventure began. I don't recall the description saying that there were open-slated wooden bridges to cross or slightly steep and possibly slippery hills to climb. I can say that my nerves, glutes and hamstrings got an intense workout. lol. The last line ends back at the Margarita Bar, perfect for if you need a shot after. The guides help you get all of the gear off. The views were great, and I really did enjoy myself. I made it across successfully on all 5 lines. It was more work than I bargained for but I'm glad that I went and would consider doing it again. All of the tour guides assisting us were great and everyone in our tour survived the experience.

The entire tour from the maintenance of the private trails to the coordination of activities was expertly handled. Throughout the day I did things not experienced for decades like jumping off 40ft waterfalls, repelling down rock faces, and body sliding down natural water slides. I brought my young son along for the adventure and here again these guys shined in a big way, Fernando specifically paid extra special attention to his safety but also making sure he had a great time. The expertise in safety and the detailed oriented planning put into this adventure allowed me to do what I came to do - have fun, without fearing injury or harm to my young Son. These caliber of activities (some might call them "extreme") would not usually instill such a feeling of calm and safety in me - or most people in general. Montana Explora is the tour company located in Naguabo. Its location is slightly remote so I recommend looking it up in advance before you head over. You can also call/text the company's phone number, and they will text you their GPS coordinate. If you feel like you're driving to the middle of nowhere, you're heading the right direction. Once you get there, you'll see a small building with a bunch of life jackets/equipment on the outside. Our tour start time was 8:00am. We showed up early so we beat our guides there. They arrived few minutes after we did, and after they got the equipment together, we started around 8:30am. They do provide the equipment so all we had to bring was ourselves. I do recommend wearing canyoneering shoes or good hiking shoes because it is a slippery environment and the likelihood of falling is high in other shoes. Ha. Possibly long pants and long sleeve but not mandatory. Some of the trees have thorns, but they are rare. The company is family-owned and operated so the tour guides appear to care about the company greatly. Actually, our tour guides, named Luis and Gabriel, had a great attitude and seemed to enjoy their job a lot. They were extremely patient, friendly, and helpful. They are in very good shape physically and helped us the entire way, even if that required lowering us or offering a knee for us to step onto. They were very competent,and I felt very safe the whole time. I feel like the amount I paid for this experience was way less than the risk they took to keep us safe. I feel so indebted to them and forever grateful for them. This tour was highly based on our preferences and comfort level. We were able to add or subtract activities as we wanted. I had one of the best times on this all day near 12 hour trip with PR Tours! Our tour guide was…read moreCruz. Overall he was very nice and helpful during the tour. We chose to do the El Yunque/BioBay combo tour. First you're picked up directly from the hotel around 9:30 am. They come straight to the lobby. You will be in a rather small shuttle and depending on how large your group is it may get cramped and stuffy in the shuttle vehicle. Lucky for me we had a great group that was a lot of fun. We really bonded in such a short period of time. First stop is El Yunque national rainforest. On the drive to the rainforest you watch a film that previews some of what you will be seeing in person and gives some historical info. Cruz brought us up to the very highest part of the rainforest so that we could hike mostly downward which is a hell of a lot easier and less strenuous. I recommend water shoes for the hike. You will stop at a waterfall and get a chance to swim around which was definitely the highlight of the day! After you leave El Yunque you stop at a strip mall of authentic Puerto Rican food stands. You eat (own expense) for about an hour and then go to a really nice beach for another hour and a half. After that you will be driven to the marina where you will start your kayaking. At this point the BioBay is run by a separate company. So I can't really include them in this review. All I will say is that the BioBay is not what you think it is if you have ever googled pictures of it. That's definitely not what you will be seeing on this tour. After you return from kayaking your original tour guide drops you back off at your hotel. All in all it's an exhaustive 12 hour day but it is an amazing experience and well worth the money!

We came here for our son's Cub Scout pack meeting. It was very impressive. This is a great place to hike and enjoy nature while still being in the city. Since it's in the city it's convenient. There are several trails, all easy so it's perfect for kids. I believe some of them allow bikes. Bring your binoculars because this is a good place for birdwatching. The forest has a play area for kids. We were lucky that our Scout activity coincided with a Christmas event. There was music, food, and activities for kids. There was also a ranger from the Dept. of Natural Resources with a few animals such as a baby gator, snakes, and a few other critters. Since we visited for a special event, we didn't have to make an appointment. It's my understanding you need to make an appointment before visiting. Best to call ahead to make sure. They call you about 20 minutes prior to pick up in the morning (assuming you are being picked up from your hotel). Jorge and Angel were my tour guides with Jorge being the primary and the driver. We lucked out some pretty significant rain in the morning but we still had the opportunity to snorkel. The first area we snorkeled was negatively affected by the rain and the visibility was horrendous. After swimming beyond the wall, the water was clear and you were able to see various types of colorful fish. We then had to pick up an additional couple before heading to El Yunque. The ride there was about an hour and music was played and conversation was had between the guests and guides. El Yunque was beautiful and Jorge pointed out various plants and sights along the way. The climb to get to where the water slides and cliff jump is was pretty strenuous in my opinion and if you even have slight mobility issues it probably won't work for you. I had the opportunity to go down the slide and jump from the 20 foot cliff into the water. Just as we were hanging out in the water for a few the torrential rain came back. It did not hinder anything except trying to dry off a bit before getting in the van. My main and only real concern was Jorge's driving on the way back from El Yunque. We had an hour drive and it was a severely heavy rainstorm. He was on his phone using both hands, dancing with both hands off of the wheel in the air and jerking the steering wheel left and right along with the music. I was terrified! I think that the majority of this is due to him being only 20 and immature but the risk of an accident in the rain is raised when you are breaking the tire traction by whipping back and forth. The entire tour was great but this drive back really stressed me out, I was tense and my whole mood shifted. I even texted my husband from the van to let him know how careless and negligent Jorge was driving. Safety during the tour was fine EXCEPT for the ride home where all safety went completely out the window. I would not drive with him again. The following day I took an Old San Juan walking tour with Roberto. They tell you to get there 30-45 minutes early to meet your guide. While I was keeping cool and hydrating at a local establishment, I received more than one text and email from the company saying that check in had started and not to miss your tour. I rushed over to the meeting spot and searched for my guide with no success. They do not show up until about 10 minutes before the tour so don't stress getting there that early and surely don't let the automatic text messages make you think you are late...

Overall the springs was nice and felt great! Only reason I'm taking off a star is that Xander was quite a crazy driver and we didn't know we needed cash as we had stopped at a bbq place afterwards.
