Our trip to Heidelberg, a charming city on the banks of the river Neckar, offered us a captivating experience that lasted for about 6 hours. With a population of around 160,000, this oldest university city welcomes people from all walks of life. It seamlessly blends old and new, appealing to families, students, creatives, businesspeople, and scholars. One of the standout attractions is the magnificent Heidelberg Castle, a striking example of Renaissance architecture set atop Königstuhl Hill. The city's historic charm extends to its baroque buildings, such as Altstadt (Old Town), the Carl Theodor Old Bridge (Alte Brucke), Konigstuhl Funicular (Bergbahn), King's Throne (Konigstuhl), Thingstatte, the Zoo, Carl Bosch Museum, Church of the Holy Spirit, and Philosopher's Way (Philosophenweg), and many other notable highlights. For us, the most significant visit was to the historical house where Sir Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, a renowned Muslim philosopher, poet, scholar, and politician, resided during his studies in Germany. He is considered as 'ideological founder of Pakistan'. Our visit gave us a chance to witness the breathtaking "Sonne überm Bodensee" (Sun above Lake Constance). read more
