Walk half a block to the left and you're at Opera National de Bordeaux. Rue de Sainte Catherine is nearby, as are all of the shopping and eating, from fancy to decently priced. Some might consider the rooms small, but having staying in Japanese business hotels, I'm used to small, though the HBEO's rooms are slightly larger. The room was very quiet, great for getting a good night's rest. There's a Nespresso in the room and you get two complementary pods and a bottle of water. Hotel staff, from the ladies at the front desk to housekeeping, were very friendly and knowledgeable. One of them even recommended a great running path for me which turned out to be a nice way to explore the city. There's no onsite parking, but the Grands Homme parking garage is a three minute walk.

Our room was big with a very comfortable king size bed and the bathroom had nice amenities. The heated towel rack and fabulous rain shower made the bathroom luxurious, as did all of the Villeroy & Boch accessories. Staff was very helpful with restaurants, directions and even booked us on a wine tour. I highly recommend this hotel when in Bordeaux.

The bathtub was really tall. I could barely climb in! The oddest thing was that there was a tiny window on the floor! You'd have to get on your knees to look outside! They have a huge lobby with lots of sofas and chairs. The front desk provided complimentary bottled water to us whenever we asked, which was a nice touch. The room was pleasant enough but there were mosquitoes every night. One day we came back to find the windows had been left open! Toiletries were never replenished but all of this could have even been overlooked had it not been for this checkout experience
