Took 5 pairs of shorts (A&F, Banana Republic) to be hemmed and finished as the "raveled" bottoms were unraveling! The came out SO awesome and so professional that I was amazed! Instead of just rolling up the hem and sewing them, she trimmed off the excess and then hemmed them. No fat, bulging, thick hem that way. Straight as an arrow, all the way around. One pair was SO short they were literally in my daughters 'private area'. Somehow she made them look decent. Not "stripper pole". Amazing. They all look better than new! (God I hate that ratty frayed hem look. Reminds me of what I wore in the 60's! LOL) Just dropped off a pair of J. Crew khaki shorts. And she will stitch them so that the hem thread shows on top, just like the original pair. I am also dropping off 4 long tank tops made of t-shirt material for her to cut off 3 inches at the bottom and hem. (I just spoke with the owner and am bringing them today, Tuesday. She will have them ready for pick up Friday so my daughter can take them to Florida)! Can I get an Amen! I personally thought her price reasonable for my items given the trimming, invisible thread work, her cutting off then adding back material to the super short pair and then hemming them so you couldn't see the added material, Just amazing. I bought a sport coat online, and although it looked very good, it was just a little roomy in the chest/waist. I wanted it taken in a tiny bit for a more tailored, slim look. Jane brought me in to the fitting room, pinning and adjusting the coat until it looked just right. She mentioned that because the coat did not have a vent in the back, it would cost less than a vented coat. Knowing that a vent would make the coat look even better and be more comfortable, I asked her if she could sew a vent where there was none. She looked it over and said yes. The new vent looks like it came with the coat. I'll admit, I came in with a weird request; I love steam punk conventions and recently bought a 1830's replica dress online. Of course as online purchases go it didn't really fit, so I took it to Alterations because a friend of mine recommended the seamstress. The dress looks perfect now. When I went in I was asked to try the dress on, and then we went over the things I liked and what I would like to change about it. I didn't really have a time for the dress to be finished so I wasn't rushed, but I still got it back very quickly after I dropped it off.
